Ah, the Citadel. A wondrous marvel of engineering created by a civilization long past, or so everyone figured anyways. It was the center for the Governing bodies of the different species known as the "Citadel Races". Humans, Turian, Asari, and Salarian were the main ones holding positions within the Council, but many other races lived on, or at the very least visited the Citadel. It was the hub for anything you could imagine from trade, to industry, to sports and entertainment.

But then of course, the Reapers came. For whatever reason, they didn't invade the Citadel. The first Reaper to show up, Harbinger, had made a direct attack on the Citadel sure and failed, but since then, even when planets all over the Galaxy were falling to the Reaper invasion, the Citadel was untouched. Not a Reaper in sight. This made it the obvious choice as a bastion for all the refugees that managed to escape the war, and it was getting packed. But on the inside, on the streets of the cities of its massive arms, everything seemed peaceful. Some murmurs here and there about the war, people being worried, but it was like a place away from the war itself. Peaceful was a good word for it.

Near a docking station, a large barracks of sorts had been prepared for a new crew that was going to be heading out to gather support for the war effort. An Alliance crew that would be getting the other species of the Galaxy to send aid to Earth, for a direct attack against the Reapers. If they could take back Earth, they felt sure that they could win the war. And apparently, the Alliance was working on something special, an ancient weapon that could potentially be the secret to destroying the Reapers once and for all.

But none of that mattered to the people who were actually CHOSEN for this crew... with the mistakes that had been made. The positions that had been filled by people that, well, 'unqualified' seemed like an understatement for most of them.

One of them, probably more out of her league than anyone else, was Linalla T'sado. A week ago she was a doctor working overtime in the hospital to treat the refugees that were coming in from all over. Today? Today she was a Military Officer given the title of Commander for Goddess knows what reason, and Captain of her very own ship. And just out the window, she could see it sitting in the Station, ready and waiting for its crew. It was a beautiful ship. It was a Frigate, built in the same shape as the SSV Normandy, the famous ship of Commander Shepard himself. You didn't need to be Military, or even Human for that matter to know who Shepard was. But this ship... this wasn't the Normandy. No this ship looked like the Normandy, but it lacked all the special bells and whistles. It wasn't experimental... it was just a Frigate.

The SSV Minotaur. At least it sure had a pretty name...

EXCEPT THAT IT'S AN ALLIANCE SHIP, AND SHE'S AN ASARI, AND A DOCTOR NOT A MILITARY COMMANDER, AND WHAT THE F-

As stated before this is downtime for the RP. Just posting as you wish, doing whatever until the whole gang is set up and ready to go. Literally ICly waiting for the other characters to show up, while we OOCly wait for the other characters to show up.

Transferring from a Turian colony to the Citadel was a trip filled with baffling directions, depressed refugees, curious sights and sounds, a variety of odd encounters and watchful C-Sec, but the conclusion to this whole trek couldn't even match up to the feelings that Nalryn felt before.

Mass confusion was all that was left of her feelings, with furrowed brows and looking down at her datapad again while the hustle and bustle of the barracks filled the atmosphere. Her eyes curiously scanned the datapad's information again while strangers walked past her, some in a hurry and others relaxed, the noise of which drowned out by her focus and thought, concentrating on the information. The confusion kept rising up in her to the point of wanting to ask anyone the simple question of;

Why in the spirits is she the cook?

Even the frigate's unique SSV Normandy-like shape didn't stand out to her, the impact of such a elegantly built vessel being removed as she kept looking at the datapad. Her eyes would've remained locked to the orange glow of her device if not for a unfortunate shoulder bump into another crew member, whom which she turned on her heels in a quick act of reflex, getting ready to bark at them much like how a drill sergeant would shout at incompetent recruits- but they simply kept walking. Her confusion now was replaced by a gradual rise of anger and frustration, to which to she quickly submitted to, taking off her bag, unzipping it, shoving in the datapad and then zipping it back up so swiftly and filled with anger that the zipper itself could've been pulled off.

Well, if someone had made a severe mistake in placing her on the roster as some sort of food-managing meal-making coward, she would fix that faster then the thrust of FTL travel itself! Nalryn thought to herself while hastily stomping off with much purpose and rage, hoping to find SOMEONE who could explain this entire mishap, all while the anger stayed with such conviction it was as if she was about to emit steam out of sheer rage. Who would have to deal with her next? Whoever had the misfortune of falling into her line of sight.

Lin was probably the person who stood out the most. At least some of the crewmembers had proper training. They wouldn't get far if they didn't so much as have a helmsman who didn't know his head from his... well you get the idea. Many of the logistics personnel, the Helmsman, and even a few soldiers were actually properly trained for the positions they had been placed in. Not everything was a mess. Just... just most of it. Like the big parts.

She was sitting there on a sofa, as people walked by. It was like a dream, not necessarily a good one but not a nightmare. It just, didn't feel real. All these people moving about... SHE was their Commander? Each and every person in this barracks answered to HER?! A DOCTOR?! Well that wasn't entirely heard of, in many militaries around the Galaxy a Medic of any kind had the final say in just about anything when it came to the wounded they were treating. Not even a General could often overrule the decision of a Medic who said their patients were unfit for duty. But that was a little different from a Doctor giving actual, real orders to soldiers.

Most people didn't seem to question the fact that much of the crew wasn't Human, and that their Commander was an Asari. Perhaps they all took it as a sort of 'all hands on deck' situation and figured, this was just the way it was going to be in the face of a threat like the Reaper. A more diverse crew would be better at convincing others for aid, rather than a crew of just Humans saying "Come save our planet instead of your own". That was the theory anyways, whether it was actually planned out that way was, doubtful to say the least.

Lin looked up and saw the Turian who looked rather displeased with the situation... yeah, she had been seeing that look all day. After all... it was only MOST of the people that didn't question this whole thing.

All the while, Lin just had this blank, emotionless expression, as if she had given up all hope. Not just in the situation, but with life, with reality, with everything.

Detective Rampage didn't at all mind the fact that he was assigned to become a researcher since he pretty much mastered science anyway. If there was one thing he had to know about science, the one thing he was absolutely sure about without a shadow of a doubt was the fact that science... is... for... NERDS! He was no nerd so obviously science couldn't affect him. Just by coming to this conclusion Detective was sure he knew everything there was to know about science.

Detective hadn't put much thought in where he was going or what this mission was supposed to be, all he knew was that it felt right to do it. His gut instinct was telling him that only good things could come out of this trip and that every little thing in the galaxy had aligned to make this the perfect mission. He took a long drag on his cigarette, blowing a large puff of smoke before loudly opening the automatic door then he spoke with a gravely authoritative voice "Detective Rampage has finally arrived! I'm here to shoot zombies and beat reaper ass!". The crew members in the bridge looked in alarm at the suddenly shouting detective before calming down and resuming to their work. One of them lazily points with one hand to the side "Commander's in the lounge"

Detective threatened the crew member with a finger "You better be telling me the truth, otherwise... I'm coming for you boy." he said to the random guy just trying to help. He roughly stomped towards the direction pointed out to him, looking mean and full of purpose as he opened another door

"Detective Rampage here to serve stone cold justice!"
A crew member taking stock flinched "... This is the medbay."
"Uhhh... Do you know where the lounge is?"
"Just down the hall, it's even labeled. You can't miss it."

Detective nodded in thanks before walking to the door he assumed was the lounge. He saw a door which he was sure was going to lead to the lounge this time but he needed to be sure so he gingerly opened the door. Inside he could see people playing cards and laying on the virtual reality machine. "Is this the lounge?" he said quietly. One of the crew nodded in confirmation. Detective went out of the room, closed the door then immediately burst back in "PRIVATE DETECTIVE MAX RAMPAGE REPORTING FOR DUTY! I'm here to smoke red sand and kick space monster ass... and I'm all outta red sand."

He had been engrossed in his own data pad the entire ride over but it fell from his loosened grip when they came up on the ship. He was completely dumbfounded to be taken to a ship of this caliber. He had heard enough about Alliance ships to know that his one was in its’ own league and he’d be on it!! If it hadn’t been for the fact that he had been yanked out of his everyday life and given the military assignment of Medic, perhaps he could fully enjoy it. Instead he scooped up his data pad, stowed it in his rucksack/parts bag, and headed on board the ship; both of his eyes the size of dinner plates.

As he made his way through the various lifts and hallways he found himself in the company of many people. The problem was that he was so engrossed in the level of craftsmanship and technology around him that he stumbled straight into someone. The person might as well have been a brick wall for all the effect Talon had in moving them and he fell to the ground on top of his bag. When he looked up there was an extremely perturbed Turian looming above him. His time apprenticing with Turians allowing him some insight as to the level of disdain she was feeling. He was fairly certain he was about to get the breaks beaten off of him and his only offering was an awkward smile up to her.

”Sorry, Miss…”

He didn’t even raise his hands to protect himself. He was so emotionally exhausted he was just going to accept his ass when she handed it to him and go on freaking out about the ship and his apparent position within it.

….Perfect start, Talon…

Lin let loose a long, deep sigh as she looked around at everyone moving from place to place, packing their things, checking out equipment. A part of her felt like this was some sort of fancy trip she was going on. Maybe they would see some nice places. You know, a vacation. It hadn't fully sunk in that these people around her were preparing for war, that they were soldiers and... uh, other people. It was like they weren't actually about to set off on some suicidal mission.

And that was when someone burst through the door into the lounge screaming their introductions. Oh, as if she didn't have enough of a headache already... She reached up and rubbed her temples, and pulled herself up. "Yes, yes, hello Detective... Max Rampage." Surely that name wasn't real. It sounded like some kind of movie character or something.

Wait, a detective? Why was there a detective on the ship...

"Uhm, Detective. If I may ask, what is your assigned duty aboard the Minotaur?"

Detective eyed the Asari and looked around the room, noticing her signs he decided to talk to her. He started striding up to the Asari with a rugged smile, his stance filled with swagger "You can just call me by my first name sweetheart..." Detective paused dramatically, lighting up a cigarette before taking a long drawn out drag. A large puff of smoke escaped his mouth in a drawn out sigh of pleasure "...that hits the spot. I don't know what the hell this 'Minotaur' thing you're talking about is, but apparently, I'm supposed to be a researcher on some ship. I job I'd be damn great in if I might add." Detective didn't want to go on a tangent about his scientific discoveries that might confuse the poor obviously ignorant girl and changed the topic "If you want, later we can get to know about each other more over drinks... But right now I really need to talk to the commander toots"

Detective didn't expect to get hit on him so quickly but he couldn't blame her since his charms were practically irresistible. More than once he'd gotten into trouble because of his overwhelming charisma but he'd be a damned liar if he said he regretted it either. He needed to give her a raincheck though since he still needed to meet the new commander. Maverick as he was, Detective still wanted to meet his new CO face to face, man to man. The whole reason he was here was to save the galaxy and he'd be damned if he was held back by a spineless yellow-bellied coward.

Lin just, stared at the man. This... this guy was for real. Like, for real real. Not in the, he's a for real detective way. There was no way a detective couldn't figure out she was the Commander. Sure, there weren't any super obvious things that said she was. But she was wearing the uniform of an Alliance Commander, but perhaps he didn't know what the uniforms meant...

Goddess knows she didn't know what the uniforms meant...

But all that aside, this guy seemed to be legitimately... well, the exact kind of person he came off as in a first impression.

"About that... that would be me. Commander Linalla T'sado, both Commander and Captain of the SSV Minotaur, that's the ship you are to be serving on. At last I presume as much, considering you're in this particular Barracks. Everyone else here was assigned to the Minotaur so, if you were sent here, that'll be your ship, and I will be your Commander."

She had to say though, he seemed to be taking this whole situation rather well. "You don't seem to be too nervous about this whole thing. Not that I'm saying you should be afraid or anything. It's just... you don't seem to have any issue with the fact that you, a detective, was assigned to a Military ship as a Researcher."

"Everyone else here was assigned to the Minotaur so, if you were sent here, that'll be your ship, and I will be your Commander."

Learning about this new fact made detective axiously chew on his cigaret. Part of him was thinking it was weird that she was commanding a ship, another was wondering about how low alliance's standards had fallen, the largest part was wondering if somehow the desk jockeys made a gigantic mistake in her assignment but he shook those thoughts away. If the alliance thought women could serve a ship, then it shouldn't have been too out there that a woman a commander.

"You don't seem to be too nervous about this whole thing. Not that I'm saying you should be afraid or anything. It's just... you don't seem to have any issue with the fact that you, a detective, was assigned to a Military ship as a Researcher."

Detective finished listening to her talk then smothered his cigaret into a nearby table "I don't know why I'd be afraid toots. Sure the reaper's got zombies and cyborgs but I've got my old friend carnefex and seven years of kung fu on my side..." He affectionally patted his sidearm "... It doesn't matter where they send me and to do what, I've got a system that fixes every problem out there." violence solves everything.

Detective siddled his way close to her, reeking of old whiskey and stale cigarets, before speaking in a hushed gravely tone "So now that I've met the captain, how about we get that drink sweatheart". He knew it was in the bag already but he still layed the charm on thick, making sure she enjoyed the full Detective Rampage experience.

Lin reached up and rubbed her brow. Oh dear... so, mental note, don't send anything actually valuable to the Research Lab. Just keep it in storage until they returned somewhere with staff that actually knew what they were doing and wouldn't potentially literally shoot it to see what happens, or solve anything about it. "Drink? What drink?" She sighed to herself and shook her head. "Are you by any chance insane, or is this just actually what you are like at all times?"

She rubbed the back of her neck and looked around. "I'm not about to be drinking anything, we are leaving the Citadel within the hour. I expect everyone to be ready for whatever comes next. Even if most of us have no idea why we are here, where we are going, or what exactly it is that comes next."

Loud shouting could be heard in the barracks with Nalryn yelling at someone who had replied with honesty, that someone stating that the ship was to leave within the hour and that there was no way to file papers for transfer at the moment even if they could, much to his misfortune Nalryn decided that he was factually incorrect with full confidence (and anger) shouting back that "This is a screwed up joke" and that she "Will never cooperate with any System's Alliance personnel, even if the Reapers invaded at this very moment." which sounded racially motivated, given she was shouting at a human.

A calm and experienced individual who wore a military uniform and by the looks of it, had experienced quite some time in the military assured her that all will be figured out within the following hours, and that her emotional outburst was unneeded and childish, that she should calm down, and then him and the yelled-at fellow both walked away, likely off to professional and important business. Meanwhile, Nalryn loudly groaned and- in both a cartoonish but violent manner -slammed her head into a nearby metal wall. A 'thunk' could be heard as her face plates impacted the wall, before her head receded from the place of impact and covered in shadow, which was slowly removed from the lights above.

She seemed unharmed! And calmer, eyes closed and soon pausing in her movement, standing up straight and loudly breathing in, before slowly breathing out. She did this a couple of times before opening her eyes again, hunched over and arms hanging low, seeming both exhausted and defeated. "Why do I even bother..." She sighed, walking until her legs brought her to a window showing the SSV Minotaur and staring at it with enough sadness to make a Elcor frown! Nothing could change her fate in the slightest, which made her even sadder.

The call suddenly went out. All in one chaotic moment, the intercom sounded off with:

"SSV Minotaur, begin boarding now. Departure in Ten Minutes."

Lin sighed to herself as it seemed that yeah, this was happening... With a deep breath, she stood up straight and watched as all the more, trained members of the crew immediately stood and marched out onto the boarding platform and into the ship. Soon enough, she followed, and whether people were happy about this or not, they were all pushed to get on board as quickly as possible, no wasting time asking questions. The time for that was over, this was happening, it was time to leave. They had a war to win... not necessarily their war but, well...

Lin walked aboard the ship, her ship, and looked around. Most of the crewmembers were settling into their stations, doing systems checks, plotting courses, updating everything and everyone on the situations around the Galaxy. Lin? She just wanted to know what the hell they were supposed to do. Then a thought popped into her head, as she asked around to find the Comms Specialist. It was doubtful she had too much to do right now, so she figured, why not have her put out a message.

As everyone was boarded onto the ship and the doors closed up, the internal intercom of the ship sounded off with a simple message.

"All crewmembers who feel out of place or that their position may not be suitable to their skills, report to the briefing room immediately."
