@TheLazarus Personally, I don't have discord, so I wouldn't use it, but I know a lot of people probably would.

I'm going to give @Karillin and @tobiax a chance to reply for the mercs, if they have anything to write in, before I post again.

Also, in an unrelated matter, what do you guys think of a discord chat?

Thank you.

And personally, I find an active OOC much more healthy and less distracting to the RP than discord chats.

I’m neither for nor against discord. I find it easier for quicker personal communications but for group discussions, especially focused on the RP, I think the OOC works just as well, plus the OOC gives anyone who is reading our RP for entertainment (which a surprising number of people, myself included, do,) valued context that they would otherwise miss if our discussions were kept only to ourselves within a discord.

Thanks for the opinions! It seems the vast majority aren't for it, which is perfectly fine! I myself prefer the OOC chat more as well.

As I said with the knights, whenever you guys are ready to move on, just let me know! It's a few weeks journey for the knights, and about a week or so for the mercs too. Whenever you guys are done interacting, we can get to the quests!

I’ve been swamped with work so don’t think you have to wait for me. I can post a reaction to the orc when I finally have time long with catching up with the story.

Well I’m pretty much done. I feel like I’ve given a pretty good show of Kace’s character and how he’ll interact with people and what his skills are, so I’m ready to move on when everyone else is.

Yeah, I think I'm ready for the time skip on the knights' storyline too. Not sure I have anything more to add with Elric before we get into the actual quest.

@TheLazarus Getting to the quest is one thing, but you know how they say "it's the journey"? Well, what may seem like minutia may encourage some rather entertaining or interesting roleplay moments.

@tobiax While I can understand and may even agree with that sentiment, there's also the need to tell a story in here, and if we spend too much time on the in-between moments, the lack of action could end up killing the RP before the actual story can even get started. It's a balancing act, to be sure, and I think that's why @TheLazarus is waiting for each group to give the go-ahead before moving them forward. Everyone gets their interactions in, and we hopefully keep a good pace in the advancement of the plot as well.

@SedjwickThis exactly. As I said a bit earlier, this is the prologue part for both groups, so it’s really just introducing everyone to the story and how the main plot will revolve around both groups. After that, I fully intent to delve more deeper into our interactions to the level @tobiax is referring to. It’s true, it’s often the small moments that provide the best interactions. So I think a healthy dose of both is crucial. That being said, there is absolutely no pressure to move on until everyone is ready!

It looks like the knights are, minus any dissent from @Doc Doctor (Archangel89 is one day away from being removed from the RP for inactivity In over a month and Inuyasha hasn’t been active for a few weeks), but we’ll proceed as normal with the Mercs until everyone is ready.

In case it wasn't obvious from my post, @Archangel89 has been removed from the RP due to inactivity in over a month. Like I said, I generally am cool with life coming first, as long as you give me some heads up you can't post for a while for whatever reason. I generally have a policy that players who leave can return if they PM me about it, and we figure something out. Unless he posts in the next few days, @Inuyasha will also get booted, meaning that we probably need to get a few new knights soon, since both were knights. I like to keep my RPs constantly open, so recruiting a few new players shouldn't be a problem!

Also as a heads up, men don't usually travel much to Miracia, beyond Falkans. A lot of the landscape and people may be foreign to the knights. So @Sedjwick's character would probably know most about this place, depending on how much the others have traveled around. I expect Catskull may have been around places, given the type of individual he is, while I'm guessing Kace would have stayed mostly north in Mindirion and Miraheim.

@TheLazarus Kace may have overnighted in some of the port-towns of Miracia like he did in Falke on some of the trade voyages he took with his father when he was young but yeah he's definitely not very familiar with the country and the culture. Also, if push comes to shove, would you be opposed to us making a second character to bolster the ranks of the Knights? Only if no one else joins within the next few weeks.

@Leo Khan Yeah, absolutely! I was actually considering offering that to anyone who would want to have a character on both sides if no one else joins. I would limit the characters to one per side, however.
