The Wind Riders beckon

You made the cut. You passed all the tests you were given and finally took your place among the Wind Riders, the band of heroes that trillions of people look up to. You've even got a shiny badge to prove it. Now all that's left is to prove you can pull your weight as a member. Unfortunately for you, this is a time of peace. The Collective and the Empire haven't been at each other's throats lately, no Mythless extremists have been active, and even individual pirate attacks are at an all time low. There's almost no glory to be had, in fact. Now you're being sent out on patrol in the ass end of nowhere, partnered up with some other rookies. If only something exciting would happen...

Guessing there's not much of a technology level limitation for our characters?

Neat. Also, a specific magical power I have a question about: Is the expansion/contraction of space allowed?

Anything that specifically goes counter to physics takes an incredible level of power, but yes it is possible. If you construct the spell to work with physics instead of against it somehow (wormholes, gravity, etc...) it costs far less power, but instead messing with laws on that level is far more complicated. Basically magic works like this: Anything you don't understand when casting gets filled in with raw power, so the better you understand what you're trying to do, the easier it is to cast.

It doesn't go directly against physics, but more in a... Roundabout way. It might be possible IRL, for example, but if it is, we haven't found what we need to do it with yet (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_mass, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive). I won't be upset if you decide to go against it still, since it's logical to. That power isn't essential to my planned character, just something I find immensely cool.

I'm not outright denying anything right off the bat. I'm only going to say no if somebody submits a character sheet and it's like "My character can fire death lasers that destroy everything with no limit." or if it's something I just can't fit into the RP.

Name: Patrick Harding
Race: Human
Appearance: Patrick Harding is a ~6'0" Caucasian male, with long platinum blond hair. Long. It reaches to a few inches above the small of his back. He generally keeps it back in a tight ponytail. When he's feeling lazy, he generally takes it down, although he almost always puts it back up a few minutes later out of annoyance. He's lightly scarred, especially on his hands and forearms, though he generally doesn't speak of why. He stays well-shaven whenever he's able to, keeping his face clean of stubble and stray hairs, as well as his arms, torso, and legs. He has a scar he often looks at, on his dominant left hand, in the shape of a lowercase 'i', a scar strip forming the stem and a small dot of the tissue forming the dot of the letter. God knows how the man hasn't sustained horrifying nervous damage.
Age: 36 Terran years.

History: Patrick Harding was born on one of the hive worlds of the Collective, forced into the cruel reality of the Hive - if you made someone upset, you got shot. His parents and friends made that mistake often, and didn't always survive. To escape that terror, he fled to the safety of the art of technology. He created small gadgets here and there, but they saved him on numerous occasions. Several times his technology took a bullet or a knife that should have taken his life. He rose from the bottom, though, refusing to succumb to the violence wholly. He became known to noncorrupt planetary law enforcement agencies, who took him in and protected him, in return for some of his technology. An upgraded suit of armour here, or a shock-maul with increased voltage - over time, he massively upgraded the police force's capabilities. The hive remained a terrible place, obviously, but order was forged out of that chaos. He eventually caught wind of the Wind Riders, an incredible organization, and eventually came to regard them as a sort of light in the darkness of the world he lived in. He trained, studied, built, and repeated for a considerable amount of time, then attempted to join the organization. He was rejected. He took it less as an order to go away, and more as an order to try again. He tried again the next time the opportunity rolled around, and succeeded.
Personality: Patrick is a bit of an agnostic, not one to deny or follow a certain religious belief or anything similar. He's generally easy-going and cracks jokes, though he's very capable of putting that joking side away and becoming as serious as death. He tries to be easy to get along with, though most of the time he ends up making a fool of himself. Regardless of his playing around, though, he follows the law to the letter and refuses to break it, going some lengths to convince others to follow it as well. He will not, however, physically restrain someone unless he strongly believes that measures should be taken to prevent them from carrying out whatever action they wish to go through with.

Core Belief: Patrick believes that, despite life's violent nature, it's something that should generally be cherished and not erased. Of course, that doesn't stop him from killing if he decides it's necessary in that situation.

Equipment:
Patrick has a large suit of power armor, as well as a high-powered Gauss assault rifle to go with it - think SC2 Marines. He also carries basic hygiene products such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush, and an advanced medical kit. He also carries ammunition for his rifle and a small supply of explosive weaponry, specifically fragmentation and incendiary grenades.
Ship:
Patrick's ship is something of an anomalous thing, barely being able to be called a ship. It's a small ship with a five-man crew quarter, with twin turbolaser turrets on the sides, as well as maneuvering thrusters. It has main thrusters, but they are not as powerful as one would expect. Additionally, it amplifies his magic so it can be used on a far larger scale, light-year-long distances traversed in mere moments.
Magic:
Patrick only has one power, but it is still quite amazing. He has the ability to expand and contract spacetime around him - his main application of this is apparent lightspeed travel, though it also has other uses.

Is this sheet good?

Just a couple things:

Your core believe isn't about religion, it's about what your character stands for or maintains as a code. Should have made that clearer.

secondly, and this isn't a denial, but if Patrick has magic that allows him to basically teleport, and doubtless more besides, why is it his tinkering with gadgets that got him out of trouble?

Also, this is brainships: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ship_Who_Sang

I'll fix the Core Beliefs.

Two main reasons: As you stated before, what a character doesn't understand fully about what they're doing is powered by pure, raw magical energy - a presumably finite resource. Patrick can't use it 24/7 to get him out of trouble, and thus has relegated it to either emergency use or travel. The other reason is that Patrick loves technology and innovation. Something he really wants to create, or at least see, is a successful suit of magitech armor.

Name: Tanya Gorbechik
Race: Human
Appearance:

Age: 17

History:
Born as a daughter of a minor noble in a backward planet of the Golden Empire, she could have lived a comfortable life far away from any conflict and violence.

Alas, such a life was simply not for her.

She had always been fascinated by the Wind Riders ever since she was little. And she eventually decided that she would join them once she grew up, an oath she ended up keeping.

Even if it meant running away from her home, moving into a different planet entirely just to have the chance of taking their test. She became a stowaway on a cargo ship, using what credits she had under her name to rent the smallest and cheapest apartment in said planet for her new home.

Naturally, it was a far cry from her comfortable home. Not to mention the fact that she had to take a part time job as a mechanic, to support herself.

Not to mention the fact that she needed to have her own spaceship before she would even be allowed to take the entrance test.

And predictably, a spaceship wasn't cheap in the slightest, even the smallest and cheapest one. She couldn't just walk in to the nearest spaceport and buy one. Not with her own credits anyway.

Of course, she had no intention to beg to her parents for it. Especially since she knew very well they would never approve of it, and would just end up sending their servants to this planet to fetch her.

And so her option was only one. To somehow construct her own spaceship, using parts she could get at little to no cost.

Thankfully, she had quite the knowledge on repairing and salvaging abandoned spaceships. At first, it was just textbook knowledge, obtained by her reading all the spaceship-related books that she could get her hands on back when she was still the daughter of a noble. But then, thanks to the guidance and hospitality of the other mechanics of the shop she worked part-time on, that knowledge turned into a practical one. It didn't take long until she was just as good as any of them, and she was able to identify the parts she could use out of the electronics garbage dump located just right behind the shop.

Yes, she picked the shop exactly for that purpose, after she learned no one really cared if anyone would to steal anything from said garbage dump. It was all trash anyways, things the original owners no longer needed.

It was rough, but after six months of hard work, along with some help from the other mechanics who were symphatetic to her goal, she made it nonetheless. Her very own spaceship.

It was really small and tiny. And it could fly. And travel through space as well. No warp capabilities yet though. No one would be dump enough to just throw a really expensive warp device to a garbage dump, even a broken one. They would all be refurbished to be re-sold later.

But it was good enough for her to take the test. And so she did.

And miraculously, she made it in right at her first try.

It turned out that she had quite the talent in her blood for controlling tiny, single person spaceships. Perfect for how the Wind Riders rolled.

And now, after she graduated, she was ready to get into action immediately, as a new heroic member of the Wind Riders.

Only to find out that she had been assigned to a dull patrol mission out of nowhere.

Her disappointment was simply immeasurable.

At the very least, with her new job, she could purchase proper spaceship parts. Her ship was now much better than before, and it could actually warp, which was obviously required for her job (she asked for a front payment to her first job for that very reason, which, thankfully, her superior approved).

Personality:
She is a reserved and quiet person, preferring to keep to herself than mingling with others. She rarely ever smiled, only displaying that look of boredom that was constantly plastered on her face (it only got worse after she was assigned her patrol mission). She had an analytical mind, preferring to assess the situation before jumping into action. She was quite the stubborn person, never wanting to compromise her own personal goals.

Core Belief:
She looked up to the Wind Rider as heroes. She had a strong belief of punishing evildoers and promoting good. She believed in a universal tenet of morality that everyone, no matter where they were from, should follow.

Naturally, said morality came from what her parents taught her over the years.

Equipment:
Her preferred choice for weaponry was a simple laser handgun and a laser knife. As for her armor, she wore a miniature energy shield generator under her clothes, giving her protection while allowing ease of movement at the same time.

Ship:
Her ship was terribly small, as it was literally just a one cockpit vehicle. And it was terribly cramped, with the control stick located right between her legs. The panels, screens, and, buttons were located above her, easily reachable by her hands. Indeed, she drove the ship while somewhat in a lying down position.

All that was necessary to make the most compact one-man ship possible.

On the outside, the ship was painted dark red, and it was equipped with laser guns to the sides, missiles from below, and even a main laser cannon coming out from the pointed front. It was also equipped with the state-of-the-art stealth capability, and its maneuveribility was simply superior to any other ships out there.

Unfortunately, defense-wise, the shield generator was terribly weak. It would go offline in just one or two minor hits. Clearly, you were not supposed to get hit in the first place.

Magic:
She was capable of using some stealth magic, mainly invisibility and muffle sound. She could combine it with her ship's stealth capability, allowing her ship to not show up in any conventional radar while being actually invisible and absolutely silent in the real world.

Make it so that his ship is an amplifier that lets him use his energy draining magic on a larger scale, and I have no complaints. Otherwise if he has enough energy to jump an entire ship what is certainly lightyears at a time, teleporting himself indefinitely would be no issue. You're pretty much good.

@Hammerman

I see no major issues with the character, you're good. Out of curiosity, where and when did she get her ship?
