The most capable bioweapon in our world... fears pain from data collection? Lyre blinked dully. "As I said," she replied, "additional scans. They're for your own good." The scientist dropped most of her tools on the ground, leaving in her arms only a very large stethoscope. If Tyssa would let her, she would take her heart rate and observe breathing.

I thought this wouldn't be a problem. Why is this thing so mentally unstable? A couple extra steroid compounds here and there shouldn't cause this much trouble. She had engineered countless reactions in this bioweapon. It should have been perfect. From what Lyre had already seen of its physical capabilities, it really looked good—superhuman strength and agility, high intelligence, and a docile nature when idle. The problems Lyre saw were technically just details she hadn't bothered to predict.

So she pushed away the unsettling feeling in her stomach. Meeting the specimen's gaze, Lyre stated, "Now stand still."

Tyssa flinched at the sound of the tools dropping to the ground, she steeled herself and gave a small nod at her words.
She straightened herself up and breathed in slowly. Her tail swayed quietly as she watched the human female in front of her.

I will protect this one with my life. Tyssa thought to herself, She is my Creator. She is the reason I am alive.
Her ears flexed slightly, picking up of the sounds around her, she tried to focus outside of the room, although she was unable to hear much.

Lyre went about her work, pressing the stethoscope along Tyssa's back and chest, performing standard reflex tests, and the like. Temperature measurements would prove to be the most invasive—Lyre had to insert probes deep into Tyssa's mouth, practically down the specimen's throat. If Tyssa did not put up a struggle, the check-up would go smoothly. If Tyssa did fight against any of the data collection, Lyre would have to use more force.

As Lyre was picking up the remainder of her tools, she heard the sliding of metal against metal.

Shit. Lyre spun her head around to the entrance, body tense and eyes widened. The door the door the door—

The first thing she saw was a gaping mouth. "Lyre," came the surprised greeting. The director tilted his head. "You didn't tell me Test A had already hatched."

Tyssa stayed still as Lyre did the tests on her body, shivering a little at the cold stethoscope on her back and chest. She tried to hold back on breaking anything or hitting Lyre when the reflex tests happened.

She blinked at the Probes that were to go down her throat, she knew where they were going. Her ears flattened and she almost refused to open her maw, she slowly opened her maw to it's full length- rows of jaggered sharp teeth glistened in the florescent light. Her long tongue was tucked away in her lower jaw.

Her ears flicked as Lyre spun, looking towards the door as it opened. As the director stepped in and spoke to her creator; her instincts went haywire.
She stepped forward and fanned her wings out and flexed them around Lyre to protect her.
The experiment didn't speak, a low protective rumble echoed from her throat, watching the male with glistening eyes.

”Easy there, girl. I’m not gonna do anything to you. Or your mom.”

Lyre remained standing in the dark, leathery cave. Though she couldn’t see the director, she heard no indication of movement from him. So he’s still standing by the door. And he sounds pretty calm for someone standing in the presence of an upset bioweapon.

More calm than Lyre was in a similar situation.

”No. But when I told you I had everything under control, I meant it.” Her arms itched to squeeze the pillow lying just outside of Tyssa's protective embrace. She felt its absence like a sick person just ran out of medication. Her fingers traveled to her shirt instead, just rubbing the fabric on her fingertips. ”Leave this up to me, Director,” Lyre said in her same cool tone.

Tyssa's tail swayed into the area where Lyre was, it gently coiled around her, barely even touching her.
Tyssa's heartbeat was elevated, and her breathing was slow; She was worried, not for herself, but for Lyre. It was if Tyssa could read Lyre's mood, her tail moved to where her hands touched her shirt, trying to wriggle into her grip for her to hold instead.

"I don't doubt you in the slightest Lyre." The Director started with a small smile, watching Tyssa quietly. "She's everything we needed! You outdid yourself!" He watched as Tyssa seemed to move her wings so that Lyre had a view of the Director now, but her wings still draped around Lyre's body.
A gentle rumble echoed through Tyssa's body as the Director moved forward after a moment of silence.

"She'll make an excellent agent for us... They won't see her coming..."

Tyssa's wing moved to reveal Lyre's green eyes. They were tinged with slight exasperation. "The specimen looks strong, but it will not withstand your tests. You'll kill it, and we will have to start the process all over from scratch." She frowned behind Tyssa's wing and her gaze was one of disapproval. "Are you really happy to destroy what you have just invested billions into? I'd advise against it."

The Director listened to Lyre's words, he has paused in walking towards Tyssa. "Ah." He started, "Of course. How long do you think until she would be ready for at least training?"

Tyssa relaxed her wings slowly around Lyre, not fully dropping them just yet but lowering them to reveal Lyre's full face.
She kept her tail by her hands, and stayed standing protectively near her.

"One month," answered Lyre. Knowing the director, he might attempt to push it to an earlier date. Declaring one month's time provided some extra padding of time, as well as adapting to any other emergencies that could arise.

The Director gave a small nod to her words, moving his left hand up to his chin as he thought to himself. "That seems like a lot of time." He said with a bit of a scowl. "But that is fine. Alert me if it's earlier or later. And make sure to send me updates."

He moved towards Tyssa again before she snarled at him, which caused him to step back.
"Of course." He said to the towering beast, watching her eyes stare down to his, her teeth bared. The director took this as a sign to leave; stepping towards the doot with a glance ar Lyre and Tyssa before walking out the door and down the hallway.
