So the idea I had for this was a lone foot soldier faces off with a sniper in an urban combat arena similar to how Berlin was during World War II, the scenario playing out during Russia's invasion of Berlin and the Germans' effort to push them back. During the battle for Berlin, a German soldier is separated from his squad and left by their own in the bombed out ruins of what was once Berlin. Unfortunately though, they are not exactly alone, for a Russian sniper, efficient and deadly, has their rifle trained upon the Kraut and is ready for the kill. They will have to use every bit of their training if they are to survive and make it back to their squadmates. Can they defeat this dead-eye or will they die trying.

RULES

-OCs only. Nein you can't play ze Fuhrer! Stop asking before I call ze Gestapo! <.<

-Since this is set in World War II, that means period weapons and tech only. Sorry Modern Warfare boys, but you ain't calling no UAVs here.

-Both the Sniper and the Soldier have limited supply of ammunition and equipment, and each will start with a set amount. Once they have exhausted all resources, it may either result to possible melee combat or surrender. Depends ^^;

-While I don't ask for frequent posts, I do expect maybe a post every two days or so, and I expect at least a full paragraph. If I see one liners....ooh....you don't wanna know >.>

-And the most important rule of all. HAVE FUN!! b^0^d But not too much fun because ze Gestapo are watching <.<

Soooo...I think that covers rules. Oh and I'll admit, first time doing Arena RP, so bear with me if I screw something up. I believe I'm bound to at some point lol XD

Ohhhh! You don't know how much I'm interested!

Okay, a few questions first,

* Is the German Soldier Wehrmacht, or Waffen-SS? I think this might play a key part in the soldiers actions in the story
* What regiment would he be? Infantry? Artillery? Reserves? He could just be a simple Medic with little to no battlefield training
* What year is it? Does he believe in what he's fighting for, or does he pretty much know that germany is f*cked?
* Weapons? An average Landser would have the 98K Karbiner, would a Gweher Sniper type be too much for him to have against the Ivan?

Besides that, I'm certainly interested.

*looks up from manga*

Huzzah! Someone's shown interest! :D

And I am certainly glad you are interested as you can tell ^_^. As for your questions.

*Either is fine with me, Wehrmacht or Waffen-SS
*Infantry is what I would consider the soldier being part of, and I do like the idea of a medic with little combat training. It would definitely prove interesting to see how they fare against the sniper
*1945 would be the exact year, since this is the Soviet Invasion of Berlin, around the time the Ivans are taking on the Krauts and making their way to the Reichstag. As for your character being patriotic about their country or pretty much assuming the worst. I leave that to you. ^_^
* Weapon-wise, yes I would say the Gewehr-43 could be used, but it would have irons instead of a scope. Also if the soldier is inexperienced at most, I don't think they could execute a perfect headshot under pressure. The Kar-98 I see no trouble with at all, the same could be said for SMGs like the MP-40 or the Sturmgewehr. However choosing an SMG, it would still be only a primary weapon, as I'm thinking of restricting secondary weapons to just pistols to make it more challenging.

Any more questions? ^_^ Feel free to ask. I want this to be as fun for you as it may be for me.

Nice to know there's some flexibility to the character! You must have seen the film "Enemy at the Gates", right? This story is pretty much the reverse of the film.

I'm just not sure how this roleplay would actually play out. I mean, neither of us speak to each other, and it's difficult to tell what the other character would be doing without an unfair advantage. It just seems really Iffy to me.....

Furthermore, the Iron sights to a Karbiner or any other type of weapon would be pointless against a sniper. I really don't know what you were expecting when you made the Thread. Please explain your entire thoughts about this...

I haven't seen Enemy at the Gates, but I've heard about it. And to be frank, all I had in mind was a foot soldier facing off with a sniper, or rather trying to survive. That is not to say that the sniper is going to be super-efficient and can pin a fly to a wall from miles away. They will have their faults as much as the soldier. I'll admit, it does sound iffy to me too, and I should probably put more thought behind it than I did beforehand.

If you manage to iron out the iffy-ness, let me know how you get on.

Omg I'd so do this with you, but it seems you already found somebody. I have huge interest in WW II and am yet to try out arena RP. From my understanding it's less story-driven and focuses mainly on combat scenarios.

That's basically the understanding I get about Arena RP is it is more combat than story driven, but there's a dispute at the moment if mine is plausible. And I don't technically have anyone yet, so I'll be sure to keep you posted if anything happens. Thank you very much for your interest though. ^_^ I'm a bit of a history nerd myself really, and WWII Europe appeals to me alot.

Okay, awesome! Just message me and let me know. And btw, watch Enemy At The Gates. It's historically inaccurate and everybody speaks in a British accent, but overall it's a good movie.

Hmm, still not too familiar with the sections of the site yet, a battle scenario doesn't sound too bad.

I'll post a character sheet later on when I get around to it.

I may watch it when I have some time today. ^_^ But when it comes to WWII, Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan are more my thing, same can be said for Miracle at St. Anna

I have a bit of an obsession with Russian and Soviet history so naturally the Eastern Front is of great interest to me. Also, surprisingly I have not seen Saving Private Ryan. I've heard many great things about it though so will watch it eventually. My history teacher I had in high school said the opening scenes are incredibly historically accurate too.
