BIO
The second oldest child of the Vossalt clan, Janessa grew up in a big family, having one younger bother and sister, and an older brother. Since childhood, Janessa was always closest to Darius, her older sibling. The family was living within the Spire due to Janessa's father's position. Willem Vossalt was the lead agent for the security detail of the Head Representative from the human race. He loved his job, and since the majority of his work was classified, Willem would make up wild stories to tell Janessa and Darius once he got home. This would get the kids excited and they would occasionally mention that they wanted to be like their father when they grew up. Out of the two, Janessa was the most passionate about a career in the service. She went on to further her education like her two other younger siblings, but instead of getting heavily involved in academics, she pursued a field of study much closer to her father's line of work.
Eventually, Janessa made it into the service. She wasn't in her father's unit, but instead chose to work for her brother and do reconnaissance work. Darius was only two ranks above her, but as time went on, Janessa quickly passed him in rank. This created some tension between the siblings, and some resentment directed at Janessa. But the two worked together, and so they knew that they had to be civil with one another, especially while on duty. Around that time, Willem was on the verge of retiring. Janessa went to meet him in his office, but stopped just shy of the entrance as she overheard her father conversing with the Head Representative. She was shocked to learn that they had some sinister plan involving murder. Of whom, exactly, she didn't know, but when she heard footsteps approaching from down the hall, she ran the other way.
Soon after that, Janessa requested to meet with the Head Representative. Once they were alone and she had locked the door, she confronted him about what she'd overheard. Maybe she was misunderstood, and had mistaken meaningless chatter for their intentions to hurt someone. But the moment her father started pounding on the door, she knew it all had to be true. The Head Representative had secretly summoned for help, and Janessa had no choice but to withdraw her service pistol and aim it at the official. She would take him in herself if she had to, with or without help. She first asked the man to surrender on his own, but her words were interrupted when a body crashed in through the window from behind the desk. She noticed it was Darius who had made such entrance, confidently landing on his feet before withdrawing his own pistol. She then only focused on him, seeing how his finger moving to deactivate the safety. It was terribly tense in the room, and Janessa wasn't even aware that the door behind her was about to be breached until it was too late.
The explosion behind her sent her reeling forward, and her finger slipped as a result, making her have an accidental discharge. The bullet pierced the left shoulder of the Head Representative, and before she had time to react, Janessa had half of the security detail restraining her before she was hauled off the premises.
After the incident, Janessa was questioned for hours on end, and at some point threatened with torture. Even though she stuck to her story, which was the truth, she did not get through to her interrogators. Rather, she was charged with attempted murder and sent to rot in a prison cell, until recently when she was given the option to join an Expedition Force.

PERSONALITY
Quiet, usually keeps to herself. Even though Janessa is friendly whenever she has to be around a group of people, it takes a longer amount of time than usual for her to warm up to someone. She wasn't always like this, but ever since she was incarcerated, her personality has changed to an extent. Janessa has a strong sense of right and wrong, and she'll be rather vocal to defend her point of view on any given topic. She's not anti-social, but she's used to working alone, and would rather be tucked away in a quiet corner watching a movie than spending the evening at a dance club.
WEAPON(S)
Nothing too fancy. Her standard issue pistol and a switchblade. Additional weapon(s) and/or gadgets may be attained during any given operation.
FAMILY/RELATIONSHIP
Janessa isn't married nor is she romantically involved with anyone. Aside from her immediate family and her close friend, she doesn't know anyone well enough to form a bond with them.
