Name: Lucien Varon
Age: 42 (Appears mid 20's)
Birthday: Born March 16th, 1893
Nationality: French
Languages Known:: French, German, English, Irish (Speak only)
Height: 6'1
Position: Meneur
Race: Nephilim
Abilities: -Stronger/faster/higher regenerative abilities than the average human
-Divine Healing: The user can heal others by using divine energy/power.
-Invulnerability: He's invulnerable to any damage caused by human-made objects or weapons, but can be wounded by supernatural means.
-He has a Relic from his angelic father that allows him to create barriers, and use his divine powers to exorcise/seal away evil beings.
Background: Lucien's beginning was not particularly a happy one. He was the result of a union between human and celestial, an angel, of all things. How it came to be, or what the story behind it was, the boy never got to learn. From the moment he was born, Lucien's mother knew that the boy was special. She knew exactly what her lover had been, and she knew that her son could bring about miracles to the world. Instead of keeping this to herself however, she had shared the news with her neighbors and friends. Whether it was a grab for attention, or whether she genuinely wanted people to know of the wonders her son could bring, Lucien never learned the reason behind it, though anyone he would have asked would have gone for the former. His mother had not taken too kindly to those who called her a liar. Insults were thrown about, and she was accused of simply trying to make up excuses for the fact she had given birth to a bastard child. Her outbursts eventually caught the attention of the authorities, as neighbors had begun to gossip that the woman was beginning to go mad. Thinking she would prove to be a danger to her child, they locked her up in a sanitarium, and dropped off the child at a nearby church, where the priests there were expected to take him in.

At first the head priest and the people thought him to be a simple, ordinary child. No one believed the mad woman's tales after all. That was, until the priest received a revelation. Lucien's father appeared before him in a moment of prayer, and attempt to prove the boy's heritage genuine. He told them he could not be allowed to be there for his child, because the union he had partaken in was forbidden. Being near him would only put the boy in danger. The priests had been in complete, utter awe at the sight of this benevolent being. The angel warned them of what could happen if the other humans discovered what he was. He tasked the priest with protecting his child until he was old enough to look out for himself. He gave the priest a relic, a gift to his son, that would help keep him safe from evil. With the promise secured, the angel scattered into the wind, leaving only a single, white feather behind.

The boy grew up in the safety of the church, hidden away. As he grew older, the more clear it was that the angel they had seen was indeed his father. Lucien gave off an aura of pure innocence, and as he further developed, beautiful white wings began to grow out of his back. This put the priests in a panic, worried that he would be found out, they told him to hide them, to never show them to anyone. The boy seemed incapable of being harmed by simple things like a scrapped knee. In fact nothing seemed to be able to make him bleed, and as they discovered one day, when Lucien had seen an injured animal in the church courtyard, the boy also had an ability to heal other people. The priest understood just how much danger he could be in if someone with foul intentions caught wind of this child. Even as he grew into his teens, and to age of young adult, they still worried, as he had grown sheltered and was naive of the cruelties of the world, no matter how much they warned him, he always wanted to see the best in people. They thought maybe they could keep him safe forever but.. when the warnings of war came, the priests knew they had to act. They could not let Lucien be dragged into the humans' war. Hoping to keep him safe, they sent Lucien off on a boat to America, where they believed he could be kept safe from the plagues of war.

+Name = Illyana Brewer
+Race = Human
+Age = 20 years
+Brithday = May 31st, 1915
+Height/Weight = 5'3/107 lbs
+Nationality = American
+Languages Known = English
+Appearance = Short red hair, dyed brown // green eyes // cloche hat // simple traveling clothes

Third Eye Reference
Additional Facial Reference
+Position = Diseur de Bonne Aventure (Madame Illynova)// Gypsy // 2nd in Command
+Abilities = Clairvoyance // Mind Reading // Telekinesis
Distinguishing Features/Marks = Horizontal third eye in the middle of her forehead (purple Iris)

+Background = Illyana was born in to an entirely normal family as a twin, only minutes before her nearly identical sister, Issabella. Both her parents and the doctor, all being completely ordinary, were shocked to see that not only had the mother given birth to healthy twin girls, but that the eldest had a third eye set into the middle of her forehead. She was born sleeping, all three eyes closed, and completely at peace, while her sister screamed for the first hour of her life. The parents were then given a choice: keep their child or "dispose" of her, as the doctor recommended. Against the wishes of her husband, the twins' mother decided to keep both of the girls. They believed their child's abnormality to be entirely physical, and therefore reasoned that it would be easy to hide.

Despite this decision, Illyana grew up shunned by not only her peers but also her family. She came to understand her powers and the third eye she possessed rather quickly, and was conditioned into believing that it was a deformity that was entirely unwelcome by "normal people". She never left her room without a hat or scarf to cover her forehead, and was never allowed to seek medical attention for the frequent and intense headaches and vivid dreams that plagued her throughout her childhood. Her only friend and confidant was her twin sister, Issabella. The two shared a close bond and were never out of each other's presence unless absolutely necessary. Issabella's ability to communicate telepathically, which they discovered when the pair was around six, was never revealed to their parents for fear that they would both suffer the markings of "freak" and "abnormal". Izzy and Illy were inseparable, until Illy's gift and her frequent headaches became too much for her to bear and she was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night, unable to be comforted by normal medicines.

Upon her arrival, the doctors, seeing her deformity, refused to treat her and sent the family home. Soon after, rumors began to spread of the girl with the eye in the middle of her forehead. People began to gather around the house, pestering and spying, which was the last thing the parents wanted. Illy was about 12 years old, and in there eyes more than old enough to "leave the nest". Other children had begun working in factories and farms at this age or younger, so they attempted to find work for her.

No would take a girl that young and physically frail, she was not suited for manual labor. Her parents almost considered abandoning her in a nearby town to fend for herself. Before mother and father could settle on what to do, a travelling carnival took up residence nearby. Knowing that only other freaks would take her in, they drove her out to the circus on its last night in town and sold her to its ringmaster.

Illy spent less than a week among the riffraff that populated this place. They were coarse and callous and all around horrible, and Illy had had visions of what awaited her if she stayed. On the fourth night of travel, she sneaked away and hid, and luckily the Carnival never found her. She was always two steps ahead.

Throughout this time, she was always in contact with her sister, but neither of the girls were able to pinpoint the location that she had escaped. Illy, unable to find her way back, began travelling by foot in the opposite direction the Carnival.

On the third day, exhausted, hungry, and dehydrated and on the verge of collapse, the founding members of Cirque D'étoiles found her. Sensing no danger, and grateful for the healing powers of Lucien, the ringleader of the group, she agreed to join them. During her first night with the new troupe, she lost all contact with her sister.

The first stop they made was Illy's home town, but her family had moved. So she traveled to the next town, and the next, unable to locate her first family. To this day, as she travels with her companions, recruiting other members and putting on glorious shows, she searches for her lost twin.

+Name = Cora
+Race = Siren // Mermaid
+Age = 60 years (Appears early 20s)
+Brithday = February 14th, 1875
+Height/Weight = 5'8/112 lbs
+Nationality = Atlantic Ocean
+Languages Known = Aquan // English
+Appearance = (Human form) Long straight brown hair // Pale skin // Blue Eyes // Slender // Beautiful // Light Clothes

Mermaid Reference
+Position = La Sirène
+Abilities = Amphibious // Hypnotism
Distinguishing Features/Marks = Three horizontal marks on the sides of her neck (human form) // Inability to walk // Beautiful singing voice

+Background = Cora had lived a carefree live under the ocean with her sisters for nearly sixty years before she ever saw land. Mermaids are an all female race of water-dwelling creatures. They exist in harmony with the environment, and have small nomadic settlements called "pods" that act as family units. Mermaids have no need for males as they are able to reproduce asexually. They live a very long time before they return to the sea in the form of foam, mist, rain, or bubbles.

Cora was young compared to some of the other sisters and matrons in her pod. She was curious and inquisitive, often asking questions to which some of the older matrons had no answers. She would frequently swim away from her pod on her own adventures, and get dangerously close to the surface.

On one such occasion, Cora saw a sea turtle trapped in a fisher's net. She knew of these things, and detested them. She swam to the net to free the turtle, and both were brought to the surface. It was the first time she had exited the ocean in all of her life, and she was overwhelmed by all that surrounded her. The human man who had trapped her refused to let her go back to her sisters and instead took her as his "wife". She could not speak his language, was weak and slowly dehydrating from the lack of moisture against her skin, and was unable to fight him. Even her voice did not work to convince him unless she was under water.

She learned to speak quickly from listening to the men. She learned the ways of the land, she learned pain she had never felt and the domination of her body by a human. He knew she was unable to fight back, and took all of the liberties he would with her. On the fourth day, she knew she was drying as she dried out, and prayed that the salt would take her, but the man grew wise to this and wetted her body to invigorate her once more. She hated him, but was powerless against him.

The man took her to his home on the land, far away from the ocean, and kept her locked in the toilet room. He brought her to the bed to have his way, then left her in a porcelain tub full of water when he had grown tired of her body.

On the twelfth day, she killed him. A piece of the porcelain tub had come loose and slashed her when he was drawing her from the bath. Over the next several hours, she worked away at the porcelain with her hands until the piece came away jagged and sharp. The next time the man came for her, she pierced his flesh with the piece of stone and watched him bleed to death. The man did not return to the earth, she left him to rot.

She dragged herself from the tub, out of the house, and across a dirt and grass field. She dragged herself through tall wooden things called trees for more time than she could count, until collapsed from exhaustion.

She came to in waves, first alone, then with someone, then with others, then being carried, then laying again on something cool. She learned later that the troupe of Cirque D'étoiles had saved her and nursed her back to health. One of their young woman, Illyana, knew to give her water, and they took care of her until her strength returned.

She was wary of them at first, knowing humans to be horrible, callous, and cruel, but eventually this suspicion faded as she began to trust them. They built her a tank for travelling, as they made their way toward the sea to return her to her sisters. But time on the road was lonely and boring, and all she could do was watch from her window while the humans came to the Carnival of Stars. She wanted to be a part of the fun, and begged to be allowed an act to help with money and get the troupe to the coast faster. The rest agreed, and La Sirène of Cirque D'étoiles was born.

Name: Aurel Valerius
Age: 25
Birthday: Born 1910, date unknown, given birthday October 3rd
Nationality: German
Languages Known: German, English
Height: 5'10
Position: Charmeur de serpent
Race: Half-Naga
Abilities:
-Extremely good sense of smell, can see very well in the dark
-Quick reflexes
-He can talk/communicate with snakes, it's very easy for him to get along with them
-Venomous Fangs: Possesses fangs that are coated with or secrete natural venom, which can extend to the victim when said victim is bitten by the fangs. The venom can have a variety of effects, ranging from sedation, paralysis, mutation and instant death.
Background:
As far as the boy's first memory went, he was no one. He had no idea where he came from, or if he even had a family. His earliest memory came from an orphanage he used to be in, located in Germany. Apparently some people had found him in the woods, not even old enough to even walk, and dropped him off in the nearest place they could find. Growing up the other kids were always scared of him, saying he was strange-looking. They weren't wrong. The boy had bright green, almost snakelike eyes. There very small patches of what appeared to be scales that had begun to reveal themselves on his skin over time. The strangest thing about him however, was the fact he had a small, forked tongue, unlike any other human would have. The older he became, the more defining and obvious these features became. It only drove him further into isolation. The staff of the orphanage were always irritated by how uncooperative he was, never wanting to leave his room and hardly ever eating. He was very sickly due to lack of nutrients. It reached the point where they grew tired of having to care for him. They thought if they kept him around, the child would die under their care and they would be blamed for it.

On the day the boy turned six, the orphanage decided to get rid of him. They drove him off to the middle of nowhere, to the Black Forest, located in southwest Germany, bordering France. They told themselves this boy was clearly a freak, inhuman. It was somewhere like this that the boy had been found, it was only right that they returned him where he belonged. The boy had not even bothered to fight them, he simply did not have the strength. Still, that did not stop the fear that shook him being out in the forest all alone. Distraught, cold, hungry, and utterly alone, the boy weakly walked through the forest, just wanting to find someplace warm to sleep, but he was completely lost. At long last, he found himself a tree with a large, hollow trunk, and slept there for the night. When he awoke, he found that he was not alone, but in the presence of a smaller reptilian creature, with scales that mimicked his own.

"You're in my home." It hissed, startling him slightly as he had not expected it to speak. He felt he should be startled at this new presence but he wasn't. There was.. a comfort in it, but it did not stop him from being apologetic. "I-I'm sorry.. I just wanted somewhere warm to sleep.. I-I'll go.." He muttered, crawling out of the trunk. The snake tilted it's head.

"You.. can undersstand me? Human child?" The boy nodded in return. "You are not an ordinary human.. it sseems. You are a lot like uss." It responded, revealing a similar forked tongue to his own. The boy was momentarily confused but.. he understood it. They shared a lot of similar features. He felt he had more in common with this snake than anyone else he had met back at the orphanage. In that moment the snake made a decision. He decided to take the child in, teach him what he needed to know to survive. He was taught more in his time out in the forest than he had ever learned in that dreaded place. Out here he met a variety of different snakes, all who had became quick friends with him. He no longer felt alone. He felt like he had friends, a family, who actually cared and looked out for him, and as he grew older, he also tried to do the same for them, protecting them from other predators that they couldn't fight off on their own. It was throughout one of their travels that he caught wind of a bunch of noise. The snakes didn't like it, but it made him curious. He made his way to the forest's edge, through the bushes he saw things he had never laid his eyes on. Big, colorful cars, bigger than he had ever seen before. There were a lot of people gathered around outside, they seemed to be stopped for the moment. The snakes warned him to keep away, but the boy was simply too curious, after all these people looked strange. They were dressed in colorful outfits that stood out in compared to what he had seen other humans wear. It was when he had finally decided to take heed to the snakes' warnings that he was spotted. A tall man dressed in black approached him curious of finding a small ten year old boy out here all by himself, with no one but the snakes he had with him.

He expressed his interest in him, feigned worry, told him that if he came with them, he could be among people who were strange just like him, that he was sure people would love to see him 'perform,' and if he came along with him, he'd have a place to calm home. The man's smile appeared kind, but the snakes warned him to turn back, but the boy could not help himself. The offer was too tempting. As long as the snakes could come with him, he agreed to the man's offer. Everything was fine, at first. He simply had to appear in front of a large crowd with his snakes, and he was praised, eventually having been given the 'name' of Snake. It was frightening, to be in front of so many people, having not been accustomed to such company in so long but.. he managed. His time of peace however, did not last. The ringmaster told him that what he was doing was not enough, that he needed to stay in a place where people could see him all the time, to appreciate his features. It was what was in the best interest of the circus, he said. Something only he could do. Snake accepted, a decision he quickly came to regret. The place he was put into was a black cage, with just enough room for him. The ringmaster warned him to not allow the snakes to bite anyone, or there would be trouble. He didn't understand why they would, but the reason soon became clear as the first day of the attraction passed. People crowded around him, poked at him with sticks. Kids tugged at his hair, demanding to see his snake-like tongue, or asking to see more of the scales on his skin.

The single snake that had accompanied him sought help. At night, other snakes would come and bring him food, and attempt to keep him warm. The ringmaster had noticed the increasing amount of snakes in the cage at night, and demanded to know if he could speak with them, and whether they would listen. He wanted him to tell the snakes to do tricks to entertain the audience, because it would bring in more money. It was when Snake had refused that the harsh punishments began. Saying no got him whipped, and if the snakes tried to help him it only got worse. Finally he was forced to agree, and out of worry, the snakes complied, doing as the ringmaster wanted. They began to stay with him in his cage, afraid of what would happen if they left him alone. Sometimes birds would fly down and attempt to carry off his snakes, but he would protect them with his body, doing what he could to scare the birds off so they wouldn't take his family away.

There were some good days, and there were bad days, when Snake would simply give up. Hope that someone would come and get him out of this place. Those days were the worst, and his state of depression would ruin the moods of the performances the ringmaster forced him into. Whipping was no longer an option, scarring him further would only continue to lower his value. Instead, the ringmaster forced him to drink alcohol, a way to mellow him out. For a boy just barely twelve years of age, it didn't take very much to do just that. The so called performances he could give in his drunken state were much more captivating to some, with his long, flowing golden hair and his completely flushed expression, a specific set of people found themselves desiring him. One in particular, attempted to buy him for a hefty sum of money, wanting to spend a pleasurable time with him. The ringmaster hadn't hesitated in accepting that offer, but in the night he attempted to take him away, the snakes went on a frenzy, biting and lashing out as he attempted to take him out of the cage. He was forced to give up, incredibly displeased at having to return the money he had been paid. Snake began to fear what would happen to him if he stayed here any longer. He continued to cooperate, trying his hardest to keep a clear mind with the alcohol he continued to receive, hoping that one day someone would notice his misery, and come to save him.
Distinguishing Features: He has scales distributed among his body, which reflect a greenish shimmer in the sun. / Whip lashes across his back that were inflicted upon him in his previous circus, some other minor scars from getting pecked at by larger birds.

Name: Ivory Evangeline Alistair
Age: 22
Birthday: Born May 4th, 1913
Nationality: American, has very slight english accent
Languages Known: English
Height: 5'8

When she drinks blood, she gains more of the vampiric abilities, such as greater speed, strength, and faster regeneration.
-Knife Manipulation: She can create, shape and manipulate knives, shaping and combining them as needed, and moving them with telekinesis.
Background:
Before there was Ivory, there was Claire Angelina Alistair, a beautiful English woman who had many potential suitors, being from a decently well off family. She had long, jet black hair, and piercing blue eyes, and a body most would have called 'perfect.' Of all of the men she could have chosen however, she had allowed herself to be deceived by the worst of them. He was an incredibly handsome man, charming, charismatic, it was hard to resist him, as if she was under his spell, wrapped around his little finger. In a sense, she really was, because this man was no ordinary human, he was a vampire. A vampire who wanted this gorgeous, unattainable woman. She was deceived, and once the vampire had gotten what he wanted, he disappeared without a trace, but not before leaving Claire a little gift. A little baby girl, and that baby was Ivory.

Having this child had essentially ruined Claire's life. Her parents disowned her, calling her a cheap whore who threw away her chances at a bright future. They left her just enough to get by, and threw her out. Left with no choice, she was forced to keep her daughter, the risk of an abortion having been much too great. Ivory had been hated from the moment she was born. For a moment she thought maybe she could drop her off at some orphanage, but she was born different. She held pure, white hair, and when she had been born, she cried like any other baby would, but when she opened her eyes, they were crimson, the color of blood. Claire was horrified, knowing this child was not normal. Then, as if nothing had happened, the eyes shifted to the same piercing blue color as her mother's.

As Ivory grew up, she began to look more and more like her mother, but the only thing Claire saw was the striking resemblance to that damned man who had ruined her life. She never bothered to personally raise her, having the midwife handle all of her needs, and essentially neglected her while she went out and did as she pleased. Over the years her hatred for her daughter only grew, to the point she began to keep her locked up in the attic that had become her new 'room' where she would never have to see her. Her albino-like appearance was not typically accepted in those times, Claire was afraid people would think her to have bore the child of a devil, which she herself came to suspect. Just catching sight of her daughter threw her into a rage, causing her to throw things, or shout at her to disappear from her sight. She found whatever excuse she could to not stay home, having resorted to seeking the company of rich men, hoping one could pull her out from the nightmare she was living.

Ivory had come to comprehend why her mother hated her so. She had been deceived by that man, and she was born into this world because of that mistake. By the time the girl reached the age of eighteen, she had begun to sneak out of the house whenever her mother wasn't around, having grown tired of having to live a life in seclusion. She'd wear a cloak to cover herself. The girl hadn't wanted to be out long, she just wanted to see how normal people lived, to see what it was her mother was forcing her to miss. She was tired of living hidden away, having to act like she did not exist. One night upon returning, her mother had come home early, her 'date' had seemingly not gone well. She was intoxicated, and having discovered her daughter had sneaked out, her anger boiled. Ivory pleaded for her mother to forgive her, but she was simply too angry to see reason.

"Why don't you understand! You are not normal! They know you're not normal! I'm so sick of having to hide and take care of you. I just want to live my own God damn life! I wish I had never given birth to you!" She shouted, firmly grasping a knife from the kitchen counter and running at her daughter. Ivory was shocked, falling over as her mother pushed her down. She grabbed onto her wrists, trying to stop her mother from piercing her as she tried to reason with her. She was just angry, she was just drunk, she tried to tell herself, but it was a lot more than that. Her mother refused to listen to her words. Ivory's eyes glowed crimson for the first time in years as she fought for her life. It was in that moment she realized she was stronger, and roughly pushed her mother off of her, attempting to scramble to her feet.

With one last desperate attempt before Ivory could get away, Claire threw the knife. The girl flinched, closing her eyes to prepare for the impact that never came. When she opened them, the knife had stopped just a few centimeters from her face, trembling in midair. Ivory was in shock. There was a mixture of hurt, disbelief.. but most of all anger. Anger that only grew as her mother screamed profanities at her, calling her a freak, calling her the child of a devil. Her mother.. truly wanted her gone. These thoughts clouded her mind, and before she could react, the knife turned, and shot in her mother's direction, and buried itself into her. The sweet smell of blood began to fill her nose, but she was in too much of a shock at what had just happened to care. Alone and afraid of what it was she was feeling, but most of all frightened of the fate that would await her if she stayed, Ivory ran out of the house, and never looked back.
