In Greek Mythology there were a handful of immortal beings said to rule the world. In their boredom, the malevolent beings decided to create an annual event as a form of entertainment. This event was known as The Battle of Mount Olympus. Once every century the battle would take place and its participants would be the favored children of each individual god.
A small island just off the coast of Greece gave the privacy needed to take on such matters. The "Half-Bloods" would be chosen, notified, and then sent there to participate in the grand trials of their time. On that island is an ancient institution whose primary function is to hold these legendary trials. During the week the "Half-Bloods" would train and perfect their abilities in a classroom setting. General studies would also be taught along with improving ability. Just in case a participant should survive and wish to pursue humanly affairs after all was said and done. Basic necessities such as housing and food would be provided.
On weekends the students would be able to take a ferry out onto the mainland for recreational purposes or to visit family. However, Sundays were mandatory. Attendance was to be expected due to the fact that Sundays were when trials were held. A large arena hosted said trials pitting its champions against numerous challenges.
At first, to test their strength the "Half-Bloods" would face creatures of legend. Few to be named were the Chimera, Cyclops, the Minotaur, etc. Once they have proven their worth the victors would move on to then face each other. Not all battles ended in death but accidents do happen.
As a reward the final champion would be granted immortality as well as a home on Mount Olympus, therefore, earning godlike status.

God of the sea, earthquakes, storms (tsunamis), and horses. Known to be one of the worst tempered/moody/greedy of the Olympian Gods.
-Apollo @SamaraJayne96
God of healing, medicine, music, poetry, and prophecy. He was known to be the leader of the Muses.
-Ares
God of war and strength. Perhaps the most unpopular of all the Olympian gods because of his quick temper, aggressiveness, and an unquenchable thirst for conflict. Basically thrives on drama.
-Athena
Goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, strategic warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill.
-Aphrodite @Pyxis
Goddess associated with love, beauty, pleasure, passion and procreation. The most beautiful being in existence.
-Demeter
Goddess of the harvest and presides over grains and the fertility of the earth. She was also goddess of sacred law and the cycle of life and death. (Referring to the story of how the seasons came to be. While Hades rules over the dead, Demeter focuses on the steps to get there.)
-Hera
Queen of the Gods and is the wife of Zeus in the Olympian pantheon. She is known for being the Goddess of Marriage & Birth. Despite being the Goddess of Marriage, she was known to be jealous and vengeful towards the many lovers and offspring of her husband Zeus.
-Artemis
Goddess of hunting, wild nature, and chastity. The daughter of Zeus and sister of Apollo, Artemis was regarded as a patron of girls and young women and a protectress during childbirth.

-Hypnos
A primordial deity in Greek mythology, the personification of sleep. He lived in a cave next to his twin brother, Thanatos, in the underworld, where no light was cast by the sun or the moon; the earth in front of the cave was full of poppies and other sleep-inducing plants.
-Nike
Goddess of victory in Greek mythology, depicted as having wings, hence her alternative name "Winged Goddess"
-Nemesis
goddess of divine retribution. As such, she meted out punishment for evil deeds, undeserved good fortune, and hubris (arrogance before the gods). She was also called Adrasteia, meaning “the inescapable.”
-Iris
Goddess of the rainbow and the messenger of the Olympian gods. She was often described as the handmaiden and personal messenger of Hera. Iris was a goddess of sea and sky--her father Thaumas "the wondrous" was a marine-god, and her mother Elektra "the amber" a cloud-nymph.
-Hecate @Legion02
Goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She was the only child of the Titanes Perses and Asteria from whom she received her power over heaven, earth, and sea.
-Tyche
