The year is 1886, London. Queen Victoria was crowned some 48 years ago and England, as well as the world, has known relative peace under the British Empire world’s Hegemony. Under such peace the land prospered and it’s people were propulsed into the future through the advancements in technology and industry. People were attracted to cities, and it’s opportunities, like moths to light. Although, as moths sometime dies by the heat of the light’s flame, so too does the English people.

The rapid expansion of industries did little in the way of safety procedures and, frankly, seemed to care little in the safety, or lack thereof, of the people who worked for them. Similarily, the general living conditions for the new middle class and working class in cities were abysmal. As such, a majority of the people who came to cities for it’s many opportunities ended up… discouraged, to say the least. An air of depression fell on these poor people, with no one to really care about them...but posivity was not to be destroyed utterly. In these times of scientifical discoveries and industrialization there remained a speck of magic - a drop of unknown and mysticism. Magic, as it was, exists and always has. In a way. Magic, of course, for the lack of a better word. Even in this atmosphere of hard and tough reality, children could still be found running around, playing and being kids. Happy. This is why, most probably, the mentioned magic was most often found in younger folks. More precisely, young girls from early teens to young adulthood, mostly.

Their nomenclature might change from one place to another, but it would always remain something along the lines of

or a variation of something Magical in the region’s lore. Here, they are known as Magical Girls to themselves, but also "Witches". They didn’t come to exists out of thins air. Creatures known as "Pixies", feary like little creatures, give those humans their powers. Why? To fight off creatures of Darkness, of course. Creatures that come to existence through human negative thoughts and emotions and feeds off of them until, eventually, they consume their host and take physical form. The duty of a Witch is to stops these creatures from taking Physical form, or destroying them as quickly as possible if they reach such a state. Those creatures are known as "Hydes".






For a long time most Witches - or Magical Girls - seems to have either worked on their own or simply were not present in London at all. That was until Veronica and Sophia, two of the elder Witches in the area, grouped together to form a sort of group or 'covent' in order to unify their forces and more easily dispatch any threats that might appears. Every Witch in the area were invited, regardless of social class. Maybe there would be frictions, maybe they wouldn't all initially be comfortable around each others...but in the end, they had the same goal, did they not?

As such, the Witches of this story mostly knows one another already. They would have hunted together and spoke to eachothers at least a few times before the beginning of this tale. As it stands out, to facilitate their reunions, they just decided on a location to be their 'Headquarters'...Sophia's home. A large and well placed estate in a quiet place in a rich neighborhood, near the edge of town. That is where the group agreed to meet up tonight, in order to discuss the coming night's event: a joint hunt for a larger than normal herd of Hydes.

Rules:

• No godmodding, metagaming, powergaming or anything of the sort. Even magical girls have their weaknesses.
• Post your CS in the OOC, and move it to the Characters section once I and SimpleWriter approve it.
• Each player may have a maximum of two characters each.
• Posts don't have to be super long, but please write at least a paragraph, give other players a decent amount to work with. Quality and content is encouraged over quantity for the sake of quantity.
• Be respectful of each other OOC. If issues come up, please try to resolve them calmly and without drama. Drama won't be tolerated in OOC or the coming Discord.
• Please, please, please don't ghost on us! Life happens, we understand that, but if you have to take a break or drop out, please let us know.
• Violence, swearing and innuendo are fine to an extent, the feel of this RP will get quite gritty at times after all. However, we don't want excessive descriptions of gore, graphic sexual content etc, so refer to the guild's rules.
• To confirm that you've read the rules, put the title of the last magical girl anime/manga you watched/read somewhere in your application post. If you're new to magical girl stuff, put the last anime or manga you watched or read instead.
• If you have any questions, ask away.
• First and foremost, have fun!

It'll probably take me a little while to cook up a character. I'll probably roll with the Sherlock Holmes idea somehow and either make an amateur detective or flip things around and roll a phantom thief type. Either way, it'll be fun. No clue whatsoever on the actual magical aspects yet, though.

My character is ready but I think there's something wrong with the table character sheet formatting up there. The site says:

The tag "bbcode" is not allowed as a parent of the tag "row".
The tag "center" is not allowed as a child of the tag "row".
Some tags appear to be misaligned.

That is very strange because LuckyBlackCat used it for her character sheets she's sent me in our PMs. I will verify it as quickly as possible. In the meantime, if you wished, I know I had posted my CS in the Interest Check's first few posts. You could go there and pick up the 'Raw' code if you wanted. You can also create your own CS using any other format, that is fine too. I just posted that one because I was trying out tables and in case people liked and wanted to use it !

@Hammerman Ah, it might be to do with the placement of the "Magical Identity" header. It still works fine, it just gives you annoying messages for some reason. Anyway I changed it a little, it's pretty much the same, just without the messages.

@Hammerman Looks good to me, I like the summoning magic! Once you get SimpleWriter's approval, feel free to move her to the Characters section and I'll add her to the list.

@Hammerman Looks fine to me. That Unicorn/Dragon thing, I certainly didn't expect but I don't think it's too far fetched since it's pretty much her whole thing. Gives her a weakness, too, with combat inside buildings and small places.

Consider her accepted. You can move her to the CS section.

Just one thing @Hammerman. You might want to add something to your post, or post it here as a reply. It's hinted at in the rules, just to prove you read them - it's easy to overlook, but it's just something we ask of people who join.

Hm, thinking about things a little more, I'm not sure how well a phantom thief or criminal type would really fit things. At least, hard to figure out how to build around stealing things as secretly helping people and defeating Hydes. So that route may be a bit harder. Certainly nothing wrong with a character who is using her abilities for more selfish reasons, though.

@Vega7285 Well, my character Lucilla is a bit of a trickster, or at least was, so that route isn't out of the question. Generally, the pixies would seek out people with at least some kind of moral code, but it can be an unconventional one, not all the magical girls have to be classic righteous ones.

@Vega7285 What Cat Said. It might seem as if all Magical Girls / Witches are goody two shoes, but in fact I wouldn't mind seeing some differences between characters.

Edit: A Witch can be selfish or a thief. They can love the power the Pixie give them, or simply love to fight Hydes and helping people comes second. Such things can be.

I'll see what I can come up with. But I'm sure one will rise to the top as most interesting to me. The detective idea does mesh very well with being a magical girl, as she could probably use her work to help people in subtler ways, or track down things caused by Hydes directly and then fight them.
