Welcome, creatures and races from across the cosmos, to the realm of rage and ruin. Welcome, to The Arrival of Corvunheim. This game is a homebrew system created by myself along with the help and inspiration of several good friends. It is a civilization builder, taking inspiration from the Sid Meier games, Stellaris, Total War, Crusader Kings 2, and other popular games to make something simple and enjoyable to play.
Although simplicity has been kept at the forefront of development for this game, this is a civilization builder, and there are some necessary mechanics that will require either the DM or the player to keep track of for the game to run smoothly. That being said, the focus of this system from a gameplay perspective will be mainly on the political interaction and decisions that the players make when interacting with each other and the world, as well as on the warfare aspect for when spoken diplomacy fails.
You will have the opportunity to trade with other nations for valuable magical and alchemical resources. You will be able to attempt to use spies/subterfuge to intercept messages in between players or npc nations (although the consequences of being discovered should be considered), or assassinate key figures in an opponent's chain of command. You will have to decide whether to exploit the world’s resources to their greatest potential, or attempt to coexist with the wild and mystical creatures of the natural order. You will decide whether to forge alliances with your neighbors, or put them to the sword. You will create the history of this world, and paint the land with your culture.
This game will be about choices, and the freedom to explore the possibilities of a brave new world as the leader of a people. We who are developing the game are always open to creative suggestions and ideas that can help the game grow and become a better experience. As of the time of writing this introduction I have finished constructing the mechanics of the system and have begun creating this introductory document for new players. Once this is complete I will make a game profile on the forums for anyone who wants to add a hand in being a DM or in being a player.
Now, if you think you're brave enough, make an application, and feel free to post it in IC. If you're accepted, you'll be invited to the discord where the game will take place.
