Name: Kemp
Age:19
Profession: Dragon Rider/ Apprentice Harper
Physical Appearance:Kemp is around 5’6 with medium build. He has sandy blonde hair that falls to his ears and is mainly kept swept back but constantly falls into his eyes. He is not very athletic but he is not overweight. He has light brown eyes and freckles that cross from one cheek to the other over his nose.
Personality: Kemp is energetic, curious, overtly friendly and often impulsive. He loves to learn and will often forego safety to experience the thrill of something new.
History: Kemp was born to a small holder near Fort Hold. Even as a small child, he was curious and always looking for new things. He especially loved the stories and teachings of the Journeymen Harpers which passed every now and then by his old. As expected of any child living in a small hold, he was required to pull his weight but when everyone else was sleeping or doing something else, he would be reading. He managed to catch the attention of one of these Journeymen Harpers and while his voice was not prime, his ability to retain and recall oven obscure pieces of information made him a worthy Candidate for Harper Hall.
He had not been an apprentice for long when he started to get in trouble with the other harpers regarding debates. He corrected a teacher one too many times or broke this rule or that trying to discover or prove certain information. Facing expulsion, the Journeman Harper Karolan, instead suggested he accompany him on his journeys. Understanding the need for such a talented mind, it was agreed.
It was during one of these journeys to the Southern Continent that the most unlikely event happened. Kemp, while fascinated by the dragons and their riders, never had any inkling or desire to be one himself. However, as happenstance would have it, he was at the right time for a hatching. He obviously did all in his power to be part of the audience to experience this one in a life time event. He was enraptured by the humming of the dragons and his own overabundance of excitement that tears flowed freely at his amazing luck to part of such event. He saw dragon after dragon come out of its shell and felt nothing but pride and well wishes to those who would one day protect the skies. Finally only one big egg and Three boys remained. He was literally on the edge of his seat as the egg began to break. Curiously enough, none of the boys helped it. Kemp started to feel angry at this blatant lack of assistance. Eventually though, a brown beak emerged. Still no assistance from the three boys, one who had taken visible step backwards. Before he knew it Kemp was out of his seat yelling with anger and frustration, “help him you fools, Help Oroth!” One of the Boys turned to him and asked befuddled. “Who is Oroth?” Kemp, all but threw himself off his seat and landed on the sandy floor of the hatching grounds. He reached the boy in a number of angry stride and grabbed him by the arm with strength he did not know he possessed, pulling him towards the still struggling dragon chick. “He is Oroth you dung for brains! Now help him or so help me I will!”
“then do” A voice sounded in his head which startled him but his synapses fired at an alarming rate and his mind reached the inevitable conclusion that it was a dragon link . He turned towards the egg and with steps half reluctant half driven by uncontrollable urge to assist this dragon...Oroth.
Long story short, before he knew it, he was crying again as joy, excitement and a mix of fear moved his hands to finish breaking the egg. As fate would have it, he was now a dragon rider.
