Ygdrasil online, at one time the most popular Dive game, is in decline but the devs have released a new dungeon in hopes to stir greater interest from the players. The Mountain lair of Demonic dragon Ashardalon, the loot pool full of enticing items to make any player's mouth water, in fact, they are too good. Within an hour of release a bugfix was announced to nerf the drop rates to something more reasonable. With only who-knows-how-long before the update a band of players scrounge together in order to attempt the dungeon before the update hits to seize the opportunity to get at the treasure hoard of this powerful beast. Can they make it in time? What might happen if they are still logged in when the server restarts?

I would like to start an RP with OC characters among the 41 guild members of Ainz Ooal Gown being thrown into the New World prior to Momonga's arrival. There is mention of people going into the new world before, though this could also be an an alternative timeline/world to the one shown in the Anime/Manga/Light Novel/Web series. There will be an antagonist introduced in the beginning but beyond that I wanted to keep the plot fairly open to the players. Anyone interested?

Yeah, that and the history of other players, let alone other countries, is murky as there is not a lot of exposition and I have just started reading the Light Novel, so I do not know for sure.

I've personally only watched the anime and read most of the manga so the history for me isn't really a strong topic, but i really like the idea

This is interesting. I've read the first few arcs of Overlord, and quite enjoyed it.

While the possibility of being players is interesting, I wonder if being New Worlders would also be an option. In a previous Overlord RP, I had a concept for such a character that I never really got to explore.

Well, the issue is the plothook, new worlder natives, by their nature, a weaker, simply by nature of not being able to respawn. The antagonist is going to be from Ygdrasil.

Not only a lack of respawning, but sheer levels. The rough level of a top-ranking adventurer is only in the 30s. Some dragons might push 60. What's more, even in Overlord canon we've yet to see an actual respawn. At this point, it's only theory that Ainz could respawn with the usual penalties. For all we know, he might need resurrection to get back up.

As for how to involve a new worlder, it's not complex. Perhaps they were out hunting monsters when the players arrived nearby; maybe they were praying at a temple and, as if in answer, the players appeared in a flash of light.

Mind, I'm not insistent on playing a new worlder, just putting the question forth.
