𝕊pring came in like the soft brush of lips in a hesitant first kiss. The warm gentle breeze was the tale-tell sign during the otherwise harsh winter days. A myriad of pink buds against the background of grey skies after a downpour was enough to draw excitement for what was to come.
𝔼xcept for her, there was only heartbreak. Another downpour happened that day just underneath the cherry blossom tree and the crack of thunder left his cheek stinging as her feet beat against the pavement away from him in time with his intact heart. Well, mostly intact.
𝕆bviously, she had listened to tunes of her own desires, swept away by the sweet nothings of the cherry blossom’s beauty and created promises on its behalf in her own reality. Though everyone knows the life of the blossoms are fleeting, they peak after fourteen days and then fall.
𝕋wo weeks ago he warned her of the broken heart she’d get if she fell for the promise the cherry blossoms told. Two weeks ago her laughter sounded like the melody of wedding bells.
ℕow his laughter was shared over soju with the three pieces of his heart watching the cherry blossoms bloom with a crowd of others that would fall for its promises too.

The Peony - TAKEN ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The Peony is considered the king of the flowers and symbolizes happiness, wealth and abundant prosperity. The peony is the golden child of the Choi group, an entertainment conglomerate that owns one of Korea’s biggest idol companies(NS Entertainment), and was raised as such. The peony formed the quartet back in the early days attracting the others through charming charisma and an adventurous perspective on life. Time has matured him but not too much where he isn’t leading them all off on wild adventures and breaking the hearts of girls that don’t listen to the honest warnings of his intentions. |
The Orchid ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The orchid symbolizes integrity, nobility, and friendship, all of which are virtues of a perfectly cultured gentleman and scholar. The orchid comes from a long line of academics, the college they all attend is one established by a great, great, great grandfather of the Orchid’s. Renowned lawyers, doctors, scientists, and published authors have brought great prestige and respect to the family name. Despite the history of greatness, the Orchid has grown up in a rather relaxed environment with a family that promotes the following of one’s own path. Even without external pressure, the orchid has dedicated himself to his intellectual pursuits and has turned into quite the studious person. Through the years he has become the mastermind of the group, keeping his three friends out of as much trouble as his intellect can offer and maintains a mature and level head presence in contrast to the other members of W4. |
The Lily ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The lily is often gifted to women on their birthdays or on their wedding day because the flower represents a bringer of sons and, traditionally sons were favored in families. Therefore, the lily is a symbol of a long-lasting and happy marriage. The lily is the only daughter to a union of two well-known chaebols, and the only girl in a family full of boys and men. This led her to be the apple of her family’s eye and resulted in her growing up without unanswered wants and desires. Her family away from home are her W4 boys, who have done little to curb her possessive tendencies over them or reign in her palpable self-confidence. It seems only fitting for the beautiful girl who loves her independence to be fighting against an arranged marriage with The Korean Rose. |
The Peach Blossom ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The peach blossom is considered a flower that shares its beauty with the other flowers of the same tree, so they are given a meaning of generosity and true love (not possessive love). The peach blossom is the second son of a hospitality conglomerate, and not in line to inherit any of the responsibilities that come with the wealth save for the family name. Having an older brother to shoulder the brunt of the expectations has afforded him a life of luxury sans stress where his parents let him get away with most of anything turning him into quite the troublemaker. As time passed his rowdy days were traded in for nonchalance and carried into a dating lifestyle that has left him with a host of very upset ex-girlfriends. |
The Camellia ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The queen of the winter flowers, the Camellia represents beauty, desire, passion, and eternal love. She is someone who was raised with these principals ingrained into her very soul, ultimately creating the ideal bride that anyone would be lucky to have. Being the younger sister to the Peony and the baby of the family came with many perks, she didn't have to bear the weight of the eldest child her brother had and still reaped the benefits of their luxurious lifestyle. While the Camellia has been around W4 all her life, her brother made sure to keep her an arm's length away from his group of friends. |
The Chrysanthemum ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The Chrysanthemum represents elegance and nobility and is a symbol of longevity. They bloom in late autumn and are capable of persisting through harsh winters. They come from a family with a history deeply ingrained in the rise of South Korea starting from the end of the Korean War. The Chrysanthemum grew up alongside the “Perfect 4” as a friend, rival, and/or love interest for each of the members. That was until a scandal broke out in the school years that tarnished the family’s name and stripped them of their welcomed place in high society. The friends they had in the Perfect 4 were nowhere to be found when the Chrysanthemum needed them the most. Has since held resentment towards the group of “friends” as she works with her remaining family to restore their glory. |
The Lotus - TAKEN ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The Lotus is the purest of the flowers, having struggled through mucked waters to open up into a pristine beauty. The Lotus has ventured forth from her muddy lake from a small town in the middle of nowhere, driven to the big city to attend university. Kind and naive, she sees other flowers as lotuses rather than the thorny flowers they are. As such, it is easy to fool the Lotus for one's unknown motives, crushing her spirit. Afterwards, when her petals are crushed in the grips of an unkind hand, she blooms once more as even adversity could not give her pause. |
The Korean Rose ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ | The golden standard among Korean Chaebols, born to a family with wealth built through hard work and cultivated over generations to reach a certain level of mugung, or “inexhaustible abundance.” The Korean Rose was born to a decent-sized family as a middle child and groomed to reach perfection through diligence. This resulted in a quiet child that often took the consequences for his older siblings shenanigans. Dedicating himself to hard work and sticking to himself has created a sort of “Ice-Prince” exterior that many college girls swoon over, unfortunately for them, he has a duty to fulfill in an arranged marriage with The Lily. |
