OverviewFrank is and always has been a farmer. He owns several hundred acres of prime land in central Texas known as Bullfrog Run Farms, named after a creek that flows through it.. He was a farmer when the Flare struck Earth at the end of 2020. It killed 10% of the population instantly, without prejudice of any sort. Of the remaining survivors, nearly every person was granted one, singular ability or power, the stuff of legends and comic books. An unlucky few were entirely unaffected, neither gaining powers nor being harmed.
It is now 2040, and the world has mostly come to terms with the idea that nearly every person has powers. It seems to be entirely random as to who got what. Governments stabilized and brought about a tentative peace. Frank runs an organic farm for the production of high energy density foods, and employs many people to work it. These foods are necessary for a large majority of the empowered people, due to the fact that many, such as super strength, super speed, rapid healing, flying, etc, require massive amounts of calories to fuel them. Frank saw an opening in the market and took it, becoming the largest producer of organic HED foods in Texas.
Frank sells many of his wares at various farmer’s markets in central Texas, as well as shipping to local area groceries and restaurants. He also supplies directly to the Texas government, to feed the soldiers of the United State of Texas, so as to continue the defense of their lands. It has been five years since the end of the Second Civil War, and the United States of America has shattered, the federal government being no more. States now fend for themselves, conduct their own treaties.
But something new is bubbling beneath the surface. The new Governor of Texas is a vitriolic man, a man without powers, and is determined to expand the scope of Texas’ control. His election was fraught with rumors of fraud and foul play, and protests have been ongoing for months now. It is July 1st, 2040, the height of summer in Texas, and the farm is busier than ever. How can such an isolated, rural community affect anything?
