Hello! I'm looking for two to five friendly and creative people for a somewhat dystopian Superhero idea I had. The wanted range per post would be 3 to 8 good paragraphs on average and have some minor slice of life element to further each character's personal growth as well as the effect of the more active changes in their life will have on their relationship. Mostly, though, it'll be a Psychological and Action/Crime-Fighting deal.
Inspiration for the setting/plot includes but is not restricted to: the DC and Marvel universes, BNHA, Among Us and the Persona franchise, sprinkled with the Korean Teen Idols system as I understand it.
The background plot is:
A group of Vigilantes has recently gained fame and acclaim after successfully stopping a notorious villain in their latest attempt at taking over the futuristic city of New Amsterdam last week. The high profile nature of the stunt mixed with truly spectacular use of a yet unknown gadget by the small team meant that the vigilante's masked faces and costumes were all over the media in a matter of minutes, leading to a city-wide hunt for their whereabouts. Being hounded and doing vigilantism didn't mix well, and soon the young team's headquarters was found out.
With the public's eye came a change in the heroes' previously secret hobby; if they wanted to continue fighting crime, they had no choice but to register as a bona fide Superhero Team and go Mainstream, with all the bells and whistles that came with it. On one hand they wouldn't have to hide their activities anymore; should they sign with a Heroes' Alliance, their loved ones would be protected and their livelihood would be set for as long as they played by the rules. On the other hand, they would no longer be nobodies; they'll have an image to upkeep to the public and they'll be accountable for every single thing done on said caught on camera... and they'd be a LOT of cameras.
Change of public image, change in looks, change in attitude... would it be all worth it to be able to do what's right without worrying about getting caught? Who knows, but they had no other choice, right? Quit or sign in. There was no longer any other choice, after all.
Little did they know, being a good role model and doing what's right would not always be the same thing... and outside forces would be sure to capitalize on that fact.
In short: A team of high school to college-aged vigilantes somehow end up being in the public eye in a world where being a Superhero is akin to being a Pop Star. Still young and pretty idealistic, they'll end up having to grow quickly if they don't want up getting swallowed whole by a secretly corrupt and broken system. Reality checks may be the least of their worry when compromising on something means burning the bridge on something else. Dystopia masquerading as a Utopia, tough choices, betrayal and generally shitty situations mixed with a coming of age story and an action-packed Superhero story.
What I'm looking for: Lots of relationship building, character growth, action-packed scenes and betrayals of both trust and principles... Oh, and some borderline Reality TV type of lack of privacy going on.
Feel free to ask questions, suggest tweaks or state you interest! :)
