Mutations: His mutation is going to be in stages. Right now, he knows he can't be burnt by flame. Eventually he's going to realize he has Pyrokinesis. Finally, I want the stages of the mutation to end with him transforming into a demon-looking creature (triggered by anger or stress similar to The Hulk) that can command fire.

His powers are primarily fire-based. He cannot burn, he can control fire, and he can project fire. Once he achieves full mutation, his second form just adds a bit of strength and resilience at the cost of willpower.

Personality: Often sarcastic, analytical and initially more comfortable solo than in a group. It takes some effort to earn Drake's trust, but once you do, you've got a friend for life. Very loyal, willing to go to great lengths to keep his friends and family safe.

Background: Drake grew up in a normal environment. He was born to fairly normal parents in Texas and has a twin brother, Shawn, who still lives there. Shawn was definitely the favorite in the family and an overachiever to boot. His twin brother is on the fast track to achieving his dream of getting a PhD while Drake has always felt more comfortable with a wrench in his hand. While there was no real hard feelings between the brothers, Drake was tired of his parents' constant reminders of his brother's successes while Drake barely graduated high school and didn't even bother applying to colleges. To get out from under his brother's shadow, Drake moved out of Texas and tried to start over elsewhere, becoming a bit of a nomad in search of a purpose.

Recap of your mutations awakening: Drake is not aware of the full potential he possesses. One day while working as a mechanic at a small mom and pop shop, Drake received a new welding tank from the shop owners' vendor. A client had come in requested that a new muffler be welded onto his truck. Drake ignited the torch and suddenly the tank exploded. The shop went up in flames and engulfed Drake's body. Initially in shock and screaming out of instinct, it wasn't long before Drake realized he wasn't actually hurting. In disbelief and panic, he ran through the flames and out to the street, slapping at the scorched remains of his clothes to pat out the fire. Firefighters were soon on the scene and emergency medical personnel pulled Drake toward their ambulance and tried to screen him for injuries. To the shock of everyone, there were none. Other than Drake's clothes, he suffered no burns at all despite being in the heart of the explosion. It was obvious to him and his onlookers that something wasn't right. Drake was not normal. With a look of fear and shame, Drake shoved passed EMS and took off running down the street toward the parking lot where he left his motorcycle. It was time to fill a backpack with what little he owned and move again...

History


Insight on Life Back Home: Marrok was born to Edward and Catalina Valentine who assumed the roles of Beta and Omega, respectively, in their pack. While Edward was very much a stern second-in-command as he role demanded, Catalina was much more free spirited and nurturing when raising Marrok. Because of his association with his father, Marrok was always treated with inherited respect from his peers within the extended family. There was only one among them who dared sneer at the Valentines, a rogue amongst the pack who wanted Catalina for his own and resented not only losing at his shot but Marrok himself, the product of his failed attempt to court his love. This beast went by the name Ryker.

One night, when the last thread of his sanity finally snapped, Ryker decided to attack Marrok, successfully slashing his shoulder before his mother stepped in and took the larger wolf head-on by herself. In a blind rage, Ryker reacted as an emblazoned wolf would. When Edward came home that night, he found his son crying upon the body of his dead wife. Edward sought Ryker out and made sure that no one would recognize his remains once he was through with him.

Since then, the light in the family unit had grown dark. Both Valentine men blamed themselves for being unable to protect their matriarch. From that day forward, Marrok trained and trained hard with the help of his father to be a wolf that could protect the rest and take down whatever threat dared loom. It was no surprise to Edward that Marrok received an invitation for Alpha Prep, though he would certainly be disappointed if Marrok returned with anything but absolute victory over the challenge.

History

Childhood: Draven grew up in a moderate household, raised to tend farm and look after the animals. His father tought him how to hunt and how to mend the injured (though most of his practice was on unfortunate cows who got attacked by wild animals).

Adulthood: When Draven grew older, he found farm life utterly boring and decided to instead pursue the study of magic. He found that he was naturally quite good and made it through the ranks as a young mage quite rapidly, being one of a select few honored by the Korin Tor for his aptitude. That all changed and he became banished once he found some tomes containing spells of Shadow and Fel. Draven refused to give up the studies and, for it, he became an outcast.

Special Moments: Draven turned his back on his whole life, including his family, in the pursuit of power and magic. He often thinks back to it, curious if he will grow to regret his choice, but the lure of Fel power always brings him back.

Current Events: Draven makes ends meet doing odd jobs, but that's just to keep food on the table, so to speak. In his off time, he is often out and about, looking for tomes, artifacts, or potential mentors. Anything to advance his magical prowess.

"You hear that, Bruce ? It's time to play God."

First and foremost, I want to start Robert Reynolds out while he is freshly discovering his power, erasing the preset history that Marvel intertwined into the canon universe. Robert Reynolds is going to be a down-on-his-luck victim of mediocrity who decides he's going to submit himself to medical experiments to make a little extra cash that he sorely needs. It's during this time that he crosses paths with Dr. Stagnum and is first introduced to the serum that changed his life.

His mental instability will remain intact, just like the canon version, with The Void being ever present in his own psyche, trying to excert control while Robert battles to remain rational and good. Initial powers and abilities will be limited and grow over time. The Sentry, as he is in Marvel Comics today, is rediculously overpowered so I definitely want to rewind the clock and take baby steps.

C H A R A C T E R M O T I V A T I O N S & G O A L S:

I've always liked The Sentry despite how divisive he can be with fans and have followed him since the original Marvel Knights run. I found the initial concept of the character relatable in that he's an average joe with aspirations for greatness while still bound by human weaknesses (like addiction, alcoholism, phobias, etc.). I think it would be interesting to try and reimagine how The Sentry came to be and just what your everyday person would do if they found out one day that they've basically got powers similar to superman without actually earning them or the status and experience that comes with it.

The duality that comes with the schizophrenia of which Robert suffers, especially when one of his personalities is a dark one, also seems like a concept that can prove to be entertaining to explore and write.

S A M P L E P O S T:

The air was cool as it caressed his stubbled face. Robert habitually moved back and forth in his rocking chair, staring out into the empty cul de sac from his front porch as the insects of the night chirped out a tune looking for companionship. Robert wasn't looking for company, though. All he wanted was to be left alone.

His white t-shirt was tarnished with grease and oil, giving evidence to the fact that he spent most of the afternoon working on his car. He hated manual labor, but he also didn't have the necessary funds to pay someone else to do it. As he looked over at the table beside him, his eyes set on the glass atop it that was filled with whiskey and ice. Despite not being able to afford much else, Robert always made sure he had enough to keep that glass full. It was a point that Lindy liked to bring up often, usually before storming out of the room and hurling insults with language typically associated with sailors.

He slowly reached out for the glass and brought it to his lips, sipping just a bit and then letting the liquor swim around his mouth before swallowing. Normie's attention was piqued at the sound of the ice shuffling against the glass. The dog sat up on the porch for a moment, his tail wagging uncontrollably, before making the effort to come over and stand beside Robert, keeping himself up by placing it's front paws on his knees.

"No, Normie. You wouldn't like it," he slurred with a tone of exhaustion as if he's had this sort of conversation with the dog many times before. "This stuff'll kill you."

"Nothing can kill me, Bob. Not ever." Robert suddenly blinked, looking at the shih tzu with total bewilderment. With his free hand, he made a fist and rubbed his knuckles into his eyesocket before giving the dog a second glance. Normie just panted at him with a permanent grin.

"Did you just... Did you just talk?" The happy little dog slowly lost interest and pushed himself off Robert's knee before finding a cozy spot on the porch to lay on. Meanwhile, Robert's eyes were as wide as they could be, watching Normie as he went. 'Dogs don't talk', he reminded himself. 'How many glasses have I had...?' He looked at the whiskey in his hand as if he were about to accuse it of a heinous crime before abruptly putting it back on the table beside him. Enough was enough. Robert was so tired, he was starting to hallucinate. At least that's what he decided.

He pushed himself up off the rocker and turned to head inside, the front door being the last obstacle in his way. "C'mon, Normie," he called. The dog quickly obeyed, trailing just behind him as he reached for the knob. He tried to turn it, but it was resisting. The house tended to settle in different ways depending on the weather. Doors were easy to open in the winter, but in those summer months, they put up a fight. Robert gave a more exerted attempt, straining heavily as he tried to get the mechanism to turn. Just as he thought he was making progress, the entire knob snapped off with a loud CRACK. Robert still held the remnants in his hand and slowly held it up to his face to inspect what went wrong. As he let his fingers unravel, he found their shapes imprinted within the brass sphere. He had literally squeezed the metal so hard that it gave way to his strength.

Nothing was making sense.

"Lindy!" He shouted. "Open up the door. I can't do it from this side." He dropped the mangled doorknob to the ground and quickly wiped his hands off on his shirt as if the knob itself had some sort of germ that was responsible for its deformity.

"Got drunk and locked yourself out? Genius," came the muffled taunt from within. Robert's eyes narrowed, his brows furrowed. He could feel his skin getting hot as anger began to set in.

"Dammit, Lindy! Open the door!" With that, he brought his fist down like a hammer right in the center of it, intending to bang loudly enough that Lindy might get stirred into action. Instead, it hit the door... and then kept going. The sound was like thunder as Robert's fist reduced the wooden door to splinters, leaving a big gaping hole in the middle of it.

"Jesus!" Lindy screamed out with shock as she scurried toward him from inside the house. "What the hell is going on with you?!" As she got closer, she slowed her advance, coming to a stop just shy of the doorway. What's that look on her face, he wondered. Was it fear?

"I don't know, I just..." He looked at his hands as if expecting to find the answer written somewhere on them. Alas, there were none. He set them down and looked at his wife through their newly acquired hole and said, "Just open the door."

Background

Leo grew up in a family of killers. His father was one of many goons for the Crogiolo Syndicate who took a bit of pleasure in doing the dirty work. He raised his boys, Leo and his two brothers, to be tools and weapons for The Family ever since they were young. His brother's had a bloodlust, but Leo never shared those impulses. You cut a man and he'll heal in a few days. The only way to cripple someone permanently is to take away everything that means something to them. While his brothers specialized in tormenting a mark's loved ones, Leo would attack their finances, their tax records, their deeds and the rest of their assets. He would chew you up and spit you out as a homeless, penniless shadow of your former self, leaving you to the wolves of the underworld to sort you out.

The Syndicate sent him to school to get his legitimate degrees and then put him in charge of helping manage the major financial movements within the Family. While Leo has no confirmed deaths on his record, he has a huge list of lives he's destroyed. He is very calm and calculated in all situations. He often overanalyzes a situation in order to predict all possible outcomes of an action before making the move. He can be quick to anger in confrontational situations and thinks quite highly of himself, often assuming that he is the smartest person in any given room.

Background

Reno never had a lot of opportunities growing up. Lower-class income, not particularly book smart and constantly more focused on his social life than his studies. After dropping out of college, he was looking for an easy way to make a buck. There was an opportunity to be a custodian and groundskeeper that paid a ridiculously inflated wage. The catch was, you had to relocate to Antarctica to fill the position and live there for an extended amount of time. Having nothing back home to tie him down, Reno decided to go for it. Now he calls this gigantic refrigerator Home, Sweet Home. Marrok has some difficulty when it comes to changing with the times. He still dresses the same he did when he fought in the Texas Revolution. Typically adorned in a long sleeves shirt, a vest, twin holsters and a black duster coat. He also fancies his leather cowboy hat a great deal, one of the few things he owns that has endured the years along with him. Dark leather boots and blue jeans are also a frequent favorite.

He has long dark hair that fall just shy of his shoulders and a goatee that stretches out into a full beard. He's extremely physically fit. His fangs are a little more accented than a humans, but subtle enough that people don't typically raise an eyebrow right off the bat. His eyes are vibrantly hazel, as if someone were shining a flashlight out from behind them given them a sort of natural gleam.

Costumed Appearance
Like outlaws of old, Marrok conceals his appearance with a red bandanna over his face. Being immortal and a vampire, it's imperative that no one discovers his identity as it would threaten his survival.

Costumed Personality
When in a confrontational situation, Marrok is straight to business. No quips, no jovial torture of his enemies. There is just the job. He moves silently, letting the shadows aid in their concealment of his approach, and he strikes. A job done quietly is a job well done.

Civilian Personality
When he's not trying to commit genocide against his own kind, he's indulging in life's pleasures. Drinking, smoking, fornicating... There are some pleasures in life that he refused to give up. When he's not trying to make his day as exciting as possible, he works as a bounty hunter searching for criminals that are normal and super-powered alike.

Powers*
  • Super Strength: Marrok's strength is supernaturally advanced due to the his infection with vampirism. He is several times stronger than that of a normal human, but his strength has its limits.
  • Superhuman Stamina: So long as he continues to consume human blood, Marrok can function tirelessly without rest or relaxation. However, a vampire's stamina wanes the closer it is to sunrise.
  • Regeneration: In addition to being virtually indestructible, whatever damage Marrok does in fact suffer can be healed through the consumption of human blood.
  • Transformation: Though some vampires in the DC Universe, such as Andrew Bennett, can take on a variety of forms, Marrok has only mastered that of the Bat and the Wolf. When attempting to transform into a wolf he is able to halt the transformation halway, becoming what many would picture as a werewolf with both humanoid and canine characteristics.
  • Immortality: So long as Marrok continue to consume blood, he will not age beyond the physical state he was in when he first became a vampire.
  • Enhances Senses: Marrok's vision, hearing and smell are amplified and mastered in a manner many times greater than a Human's.
  • Hypnosis: Marrok is able to influence the minds of the weak willed to some degree. While he can't control someone like a puppet, he can make them consider certain actions with an extra bit of psychic persuasion.

Weaknesses
  • Sunlight:The sun becomes very corrosive and painful when it directly hits Marrok's skin. Too much exposure will trigger a sort of spontaneous combustion that will ultimately end his existence.
  • Wooden Stake: Having his heart impaled by a wooden stake is the traditional and fool proof way to kill him.
  • Garlic: Garlic causes a more mild corrosive effect, less severe than sunlight but still uncomfortable.
  • Religious Symbols: Religion has its own power and Marrok's cursed eyes have the ability to see those sorts of powerful auras that surround significant artifacts. THat being the case, if you shoved a crucifix in his face, it would be light hitting him with a flash bang. The more faith you have, the more blinding the artifact becomes. Simply viewing an artifact will not caught physical damage but if the wielder is very devout and touches Marrok with the symbol of their faith, it may burn his skin on contact.
  • Bloodlust: As much as Marrok strives to leave the world better than he found it, he still has to quench that thirst. A lust for blood is ever present and grows exponentially hour by hour. He needs to have a healthy feast at least once a week to maintain control of his facilities before the bloodlust and the demon within take over.

Weapons
Marrok carries four weapons with him at all times. A stake that is coated in silver with an exposed wooden tip that he always keeps sharp. Twin six shooters that have been blessed by a priest. He can only hold onto these guns with gloves or else he experiences discomfort. He had his guns blessed so that he could use them as weapons against the undead. Where once a blood sucker could take a bullet and keep on coming, now they feel God's wrath with every shot. And finally a bowie knife, the steel of which was laced when silver metal when it was forged, adding a potentially supernatural sting to his stabs.

Biography

Character History/Origin
Marrok was about 30 years old when he fought in the Texas Revolutionary War. It was on the field of battle where he met his end and new beginning. Seeing the insurmountable odds ahead, Col. James Fannin organized a task force that was built to play dirty. They secret team was tasked to operate at night and stay out of sight. On their premiere mission to infiltrate Santa Anna's forces, most of Marrok's troupe fell to one individual in particular: Antonio Vega.

Despite how many bullets and knives they put into the man, Antonio simply would not go down. His eyes flashed like a demon's as the campfire reflected within them, dancing in his pupils. Marrok was the last man standing as crimson mouthed Antonio looked upon him and laughed. Marrok refused to go down easily, though. As they tussled, Marrok stabbed him several times in the ribs and even bit off one of his ears, refusing to surrender to fear at the beast before him. Impressed with his courage and tenacity, Antonio decided not to kill him after all, but to curse him. He made him his own undead enforcer and protector.

Marrok was reluctantly let into the fold of the Mexican army at Antonio's insistence. Whether or not Antonio's countrymen knew what he was, they at least knew he was not to be trifled with. For several weeks, Antonio introduced Marrok to his new life what the gifts that came with it. Marrok proved to be a very fast learner but where he and his mentor differed was with whom to feed upon.
Antonio was a fan of the weak, the manipulated, the easily dealt with. Marrok insisted that they fight their urge and make the best of a bad situation; If they had to feed, let them feed on evil.

Then came the Battle of Coleto Creek. Col. James Fannin's forces were overrun by the Mexican army. James Fannin and 344 of his men were then executed at Goliad, Texas under Santa Anna's orders, his preferred way of dealing with rebels. When Marrok found out, he became infuriated. He lashed out at his mentor and fled the barracks becoming a deserter and a shadow.

From then on, Marrok followed his original creed. There was nothing he could do about the monster he'd become, but he could still control his actions. He would feed on evil and bring down those who wished to prey on the innocent, including his own kind.

Sunny dresses casually most of the time. If he is trying to blend in, you'll also see him wearing sunglasses to help conceal his particularly unusual looking eyes. His upper lip has an indentation similar to a hairlip but with more of a simian look to it. He also has a prehensile tail that he usually keeps hidden within his clothing.

His skin is naturally tan and his hair is a very pale blond. His feet, knuckles and arms are always are also unusually hairy. His eyes are golden.

He is fairly lean and has an odd sort of walk to him, the rhythm of which is slightly off beat compared to anyone else roaming the sidewalks.

Costumed Appearance
Sunny interacts with everyone as himself. He is his own most powerful weapon, so there is no need for holsters or body armor of any type. He also is relatively new to his identity and this world, so he has yet to make any efforts to hide who he is.

Costumed Personality
When Sunny is 'on the clock' and looking to aid someone or bring about vengeance upon an enemy, he is extremely excited and jovial to the point of being blatantly silly. He loves fighting and even likes losing, the latter of which just excites him more and makes he want to do better.

You will hardly ever see Sunny get angry unless he is faced with tragedy or failure that results in good people getting hurt. Despite outward appearances, he takes the role of Protector quite seriously.

He has no fear of anything so his curiousity often leads to him getting in trouble or committing some faux pas.   • Super Strength: The upper limits of Sunny's strength is unknown. It's a power that seems to scale with his will. In its most common state, Sunny would be quite capable of flipping a car on its side. With a great deal of effort and willpower, this ability can be magnified. This ability also aids in his agility. He can leap twenty feet into the air in most instances and is quite gifted at climbing.
  • Durability: Sunny's origin has gifted him with being a very tough customer. While he can be broken, it would take Herculean effort to do so. If he were to be hit by a speeding car, he would very likely walk away from the incident with minor abrasions at worst.
  • Accelerated Healing: If you manage to break him, he will not heal instantly. However, what might take a human months to heal from would take him days at most.
  • Magic Awareness: Sunny has magic coursing through his veins, but he is no mage. He is all fighter. That said, the magic within him grants him a few passive advantages. He can sense Magic around him as well as other being of magic or demonic descent. He also has a resistance to magic that is used against him (Read: Resistance, not immunity). While it is not his strength, Sunny can effectively enact spells in dire times of need, but he has none memorized. Much like Shazam, most of his innate magic passively amplifies his strength, durability and survival.
  • Immortality: Passed to him from his maker, Sunny is effectively immortal and will never die of old age.

Weapons
Sunny's only weapon is his jingu bang. An artifact passed to him with magical properties of its own, the staff has the ability to change size and length at Sunny's command. It is usually shrunk down to the size of a toothpick and kept tucked up in Sunny's ear.

Biography

Character History/Origin
Sunny is his father's son and his father is one of many demonic lords of chaos. A Junior to his Senior, Sunny shares a lot of the traits of his father, though he is not nearly as powerful. Sunny's father is a shapeshifting god of mischief and power. In one of his many self indulgent adventures, he came to Earth Prime to witness the spectacle of super human beings. While there, he also found lust in the form of a very wealthy human woman named Victoria Wilder. Having had his fun, Sunny's father left, leaving Victoria pregnant with his demonic offspring.

The birthing process was alarming and quite dangerous. Victoria barely survived during the 3 month incubation process before Sunny finally breached and came into the world. The doctors were baffled to find a baby with simian features including a tail. When they asked Victoria if they should remove it, she was overcome with grief, the realization that her baby was something strange and foreign had set in, triggering a sense of depression. Ultimately, she left the tail alone and tried to raise the boy as best she could, under the circumstances.

Though Sunny has never met his patriarch, on his 16th birthday a package had arrived. The box was no bigger than an earring case with a note that said "From me to you. -SW" Within was what appeared to be a red and gold toothpick. When Sunny lifted it out of the case, it immediately sprouted out to an appropriate size to act as a bo staff. When he handed it to his mother for inspection, she immediately dropped it, the staff being far too heavy for her to weld.

As time went on, Sunny's mother continued to try and hide him from the world. All of his schooling was private and they almost never left the manor grounds. It became incredibly alarming, then, when Victoria found out she had cancer that was projected to take her life within months. Once it finally happened, Sunny was 23 years old. He took no comfort in her passing, not even when her lawyer, Gordon, informed him that she left all her wealth and assets solely to him to help keep him in his safe little bubble.

Sunny wanted no part of it. He left his life behind to set out on his own. Preferring the freedom of living outdoors and anywhere he wanted, Sunny began treating every day like a new adventure. Though he has not touched a cent of his inheritance, Victoria's lawyer set the money aside in an account that only Sunny can access should he ever have a change of heart. Like a guardian angel, Gordon continued to check on the young man but knew that there was no containing him anymore. Sunny was too in love with the world to ever close it off again.

Personality
Among those he considers friends, Draven can be very laid back and jovial. When in the presence of mixed company, however, his attitude takes on an intense seriousness. Though he has a conscience, it is often buried behind the mask he feels he needs to wear to protect his people and himself from a world looking to take them down.

He has a personality that is prone to addiction. He smokes tobacco (among other things), drinks, sleeps around, gambles, and loves a good bareknuckle fight.

History
Draven was the son of a whore and an outlaw named Daniel "Butcher" Creed. The latter was the right hand man to Brock McLane, infamous leader of The Black Coats, a loose knit organization of ex-military men who took to a life of stealing and hell raising. Brock was a very charismatic leader, but not the brightest of planners. In the end, he took several bullets to the chest and fell dead along with the rest of his men in a botched train robbery. The Butcher was the last to go down, taking nearly every Pinkerton at the scene down with him before be bled out.

Draven was raised by the widows and old timers that were left behind at the camp. Ol' Joe Harris, one of the oldest with the group and considered a sage of sorts, took Draven under his wing and taught him how to shoot, ride, hunt and strategize. The old man soon fell, himself, to natural causes. The Black Coats were no more and Draven decided it was time to break off on his own.

Since then, he wandered the lands looking for his place in the world. His mischievous and debaucherous upbringing never ceased to be a part of his life. If you ever came across him, you could bet he was there to piss someone off. All you could do was hope it wasn't you.

  • Fair Hand-to-hand combatant. While expert martial artists could probably beat him on technique, he tends to hold his own in most brawls.

  • The Gargoyle: In Zane's every day life, he is as vulnerable as any other person around him. His strength and abilities are also comparable to people of his size and build. His superhuman abilities spring forth when he engages his other form, The Gargoyle, which he can do at will and for an indefinite amount of time, for reasons he is not quite sure of. All subsequent powers will be exclusive to his gargoyle form. As The Gargoyle, Zane has batlike wings, sharpened claws, vampiric looking fangs, small horns that protrude from his skull, a prehensile tail, and loss of color in his skin, giving him a grey tone overall. His eyes also emanate an emerald hue in this form.
  • Durability: As if he were made out of stone, The Gargoyle is incredibly durable. While bullets bring pain, they are not an automatic death sentence. Shooting him is like shooting a grizzly bear. Send enough bullets and eventually he'll go down, but he's going to put up a fight. Fire does not particularly bother him in terms of physical pain.
  • Regeneration: If Zane sustains a significant injury and then changes to The Gargoyle, the healing process of that injury will have advanced greatly due to the biological transformation. Injuries sustained as The Gargoyle will heal faster than a human, but only by half as long.
  • Strength: The Gargoyle is extremely strong, able to flip over a vehicle with some extended effort. Able to lift a vehicle over his head with quite a bit more effort, capping his strength potential.
  • Flight: The Gargoyle is able to utilize his wings to execute flight. His wings operate similarly to a birds, so his speed in the air is proportionately accurate to his size. His wings are strong enough that he can carry someone of equal size while in flight, but that would be it before it becomes too heavy to get airborne.
  • Night Vision: The Gargoyle can see perfectly in the dark and has also gifted Zane with slight night vision.

Weaknesses
  • Bright Lights:Since The Gargoyle came into his life, Zane's eyes were changed, becoming quite advanced in the dark and more vulnerable in the light. Because of this, Zane is nearly always wearing sunglasses. The Gargoyle will also become stunned for a moment if he has to suffer sudden brightness.
  • Human Form When Zane is just Zane, he's as vulnerable to any human's weaknesses as the next person.
  • Naivety: Zane does not know where his powers come from, nor does he understand how they work. While he can adeptly utilize them, he's barely tapped his full potential.
  • Water: Zane has a phobia of water, even before The Gargoyle became a part of his life. Incidentally, The Gargoyle loses a lot of his combat proficiency when submerged, making him very vulnerable to attacks.

How did Arrowcaster find you?
Rumors of The Gargoyle hunting criminals at night have begun to circulate in the local criminal circles. Most of them don't believe, but they pass along the bizarre tales nonetheless. Once Arrowcaster heard the stories, he decided to investigate it for himself.

Lo and behold, when Arrowcaster followed criminals in Zane's town, he soon found The Gargoyle striking them down.

Biography

Character Bio
Zane has been a college student, nearing his graduation. While he went to school during the day, he became an assistant worker at a church cemetery at night, helping the groundskeeper maintain the property, set the tombstones and perform other labor intensive tasks.

One night, while on the job, he felt like he heard a voice coming from one of the mausoleums. There were no names on the structure, just decorative stone carvings and a lone gargoyle sitting at its roof's peak. Hesitantly, Zane went inside to check it out. As he entered, he saw what appeared to be a silhouette of something inhuman. Before he could react, the living shadow sprung forth and everything went black.

Zane woke up at the hospital, the groundskeeper having reported the incident. Once they gave him a clean bill of health and an explanation of dehydration that led to fainting, Zane went back to his apartment ready to dismiss the whole ordeal as just a silly tale to tell at parties. That's when the change first came upon him. Suddenly and violently, Zane transformed into The Gargoyle.

Over the past few months, he's been learning to control it and to use it for good. He's mastered triggering the switch and flying, but he is far from fluent in all of his abilities.

One Year Later
After a year's worth of experience and training, he'll eventually uncover the fact that he can manipulate stone, using this new ability in a variety of different ways such as a means for constructing weapons and armor.

Zeke was the former enforcer of the Red Hoods, serving as the agency's ultimate weapon against the things that go bump in the night as well as living motivation for those donning the hood to keep in line.

His interactions with the members of the Red Hoods were fairly limited during his career, choosing to converse mostly and nearly exclusively with Commander Rouge. After the Red Hoods took their last stand and ultimately unraveled, Zeke initially tried to salvage the organization but was unsuccessful. He accepted that he was alone in the fight and operated solo, continuing the Red Hoods' fight as a monster that took down worse monsters. As the years went on, Zeke's personality, motivations and attitude changed and evolved with each passing year. The Zeke today is almost unrecognizable from the Zeke of yesteryear. One must determine for themselves whether or not that is a good thing.

History:
Born into the light under a noble roof, Edvard was raised with certain privileges not afforded to the more downtrodden members of his town. Educated and professionally trained in combat, Edvard had a natural knack for spilling blood and doing so with wit. His battle prowess led to a reputation that bordered on myth. Seemingly unstoppable on the field of war, Edvard's name became infamous among his friends and foes alike. If ever there was an enemy to crush or a town to raid, Edvard was placed on the front lines. A human battering ram of passion and carnage, he would create a crimson path through his adversaries no matter how vast that were in numbers.

One day his infamy worked against him, however. In pursuit of raided spoils, Edvard made a mistake that nearly cost him his life. In a moment of arrogance, he squared off with a mountain of a man and decided he would fell the giant with his bare hands while the juggernaut was armed with two axes the size of normal men. Fate had other plans and Edvard met the razor sharp edges up close and personal. The others in his company quickly pulled the mortally wounded man out of harms way and attempted to crudely dress his wounds and return home for medical aid. All seemed lost and the spark within Edvard's heart grew exponentially dimmer. Once he was back in his home town, one could count the minutes left before his soul would evacuate his body. But someone refused to accept such a fate for him. His future queen intervened. That evening, he was reborn to darkness.

After becoming betrothed to his savior, Edvard embraced a nomadic lifestyle though the ages, changing his figurative mask with each passing generation. Where his bride went, he followed, even when it came to their eventual hibernation. After a generation of rest, there was a stirring... a call to arise. Edvard was nearly ready to answer it.
