We are the ones that they wanted. They found something in our genes that gave us a higher potential in the development of Quirks, special powers that started appearing around the world about 200 years ago, but still only 5% are able to develop any kind of Quirk. Some say it's radiation, others are convinced that the government put chemicals into our food and water to activate this gene, but the truth is that we don't know what causes it. They started testing us about 20 years ago. Some people managed to escape and stay in hiding but nothing works. We are all found and shipped away.

Those with the highest percentage of obtaining these power get sent to W.E.S.T., the World Experimental Source Tower. They try and keep what they do a secret to the public, pass this place off as a geology lab. The truth is that they are taking us, no matter the age, and forcing these Quirks out of us via tests. But we will get free, we will see beyond the horizon.

Hello Everyone, just thought I would give a little blurb of an idea I have had for awhile. Let me know down belong if you are interested, or have anything you would like to add. I love building up ideas in a group.

Sounds promising, did you have any ideas regarding the world?
Are you thinking more alternate future? Or is it going to be a completely different world.
What's the level of technology and did you plan on sticking with humans or did you want more races involved?

(I have a few weird ideas, but I'd like you to tell me what specifically you wanted for the story.)

So is this different from My Hero? I mean I like My Hero and this sounds dope. I'm just saying - why not just call it that if that's what it is, only difference I'm seeing is the testing. But I'd totally be interested.

I'm assuming you are referencing my hero academia. No I haven't seen that anime. But from what I have read and also just wathed the first episode. It is similar. No schools though. It is more survival, more like Horizon zero dawn.

@deia876lat The best part about this idea that i have is that I am willing to work with you guys get more of a story flushed out. Lay on the ideas. This is actually a reboot of an older roleplay that i developed and loved, but unfortunately didn't make it. I would like to keep it more humanoid, if possbile, but i am willing to compomise. we could even stretch out the timeline and say that these power developed into different races.

What ideas did you have in mind?

Well I'd suggest alternate dimension, we keep it confined to the Tower whilst we try to figure out (who we are, what we're there for).

We're the Discardables, the unwanted of society. Those few that show a potential Quirk are taken immediately to the Tower...Becoming Potentials.
Meaning they might be of use regarding the safekeeping of the city or the protecting and or powering of the fence.
Society on the outside of the Tower is a world of energy and electricity.

The world has had a cataclysm event of sorts, how it exactly happened no one knows, but people fucked up and disturbed or released something they should have left alone.
Those that survived the cataclysm live inside 'safe cities' protected by a large electric/magnetic fence that keep the elements and potential other dangers out. This fence acts like a dome over the cities.
The city's themselves are a mix of remnants of the past married with high tech skyscrapers.
(Think of a world where the sun's light can't penetrate the storms or the fence, simply lighting up the sky in weird flashes and changes of colour like a dimmed moodlamp)
Due to the conditions being what they are Cities usually have a large watersource nearby or they are build on top of underground watersources.

I like it. My biggest question, however, is; Why are they trying to remove their quirks. For some of them, I can understand, like if someone can explode with the force of a megaton bomb every time they get angry, yeah, you want to neutralize that, but if one of them could, say, read minds or manipulate magnetism or something, why wouldn't they want to weaponize them? Morality doesn't seem to be a factor, if they're straight up kidnapping them.

@deia876lat
I like this setting. The only drawback is that if it all takes place in the Tower, that pretty much guarantees that every character is potentially usefull, which isn't bad, but it does limit character just a tad. I'd personally like to see at least one character with a useless quirk, like the ability to turn their skin invisible, but not any of their insides or hair or anything.

@Melkor
I mean, it's kind of the opposite of My Hero? In My Hero, everyone all over the world suddenly develop quirks over night, with the exception of the 1% of the population that's quirk less,
establishing a new normal.
The premise of this RP is that only 5% of people are born with quirks, causing the powers that be to hide them in order to sustain the current status quo.

I think you mistake my meaning. By taken away I don't mean the quirks, I mean the people are hauled off to the tower, as I suggested we play these people hardly knowing why we're taken in the first place.
Well if you wanted to widen the pool they at times 'take some' of the Discardables. Considering the elite never really cares much for the lives of those who are not of their concern.
Think Roman if you will with slavery. People could be captured or even sold into slavery.

@VerusEbullio My personal suggestion would be to call the powers something other than quirks or you're going to get a good number of people expecting a My Hero Academia roleplay. Otherwise, I do like the powered people in prison concept. I played something similar a very long time ago but it didn't get all together too far. I could dust off that character, though it's been so long they could really use with some major rewrites.
