[Wanderer's Main Base]

Ebe stared up the sky above, looking at the clouds.

"Smells like rain," she said aloud to Ramune, her pet mutated cat. A habit she picked up at a very young age.

While quiet around the others at the base camp, she often talked to herself and Ramune when alone. It was easy to speak when she was alone or with Ramune.

She stood near the edge of the premises holding her gun. While not on guard duty--she wasn't a guard--she looked away from the partially cloudy sky and held up her weapon, aiming it at a bird in a tree about 50 yards out.

Toying with the trigger, she sighed and put her gun back over her shoulder carefully. She didn't want to draw attention from anything or anyone.

She longed to get her hands on a weapon for herself to go hunting with. Borrowing from others was hard to do since she didn't like to ask people for favors unless she needed to.

"But I'm sure you would love the meat, wouldn't you, Ramune?"

Ramune looked up at her and blinked its eight black, beady eyes at her.

"I bet your eyesight is amazing."

[Wanderer's Main Base]
Aliva watched Ebe from a distance, wondering if she was doing her job.
She must be. Living somewhere like this isn't somewhere where you can let your guard down. She pushed the thought out of her head.
Smiling, she walked up to her. Spike followed, eyeing Ramune.
"Hi Ebe."

Ebe turned when she heard footsteps approach, spotting Aliva and her pet lion Spike who looked at Ramune.

Ramune stood, raising its mutated centipede tail in the air, and strutted around Spike, nudging and brushing against the much larger cat.

Ebe grinned at Aliva and waived. "Hello, Aliva."

She liked Aliva as they had very similar personalities in general.

"Rain's coming, I think," Ebe said as she brushed her hand through her short black hair, turning her head back up to the sky.

"You're right.."
She looked around, before turning her attention to the sky. The clouds took on a dark-green hue.
She turned around, rubbing her face. She motioned towards The Wanderer's Main Base.
Spike enjoyed Ramune's company, and seemed sad they were to leave.
"You gonna stay out?"

(The Streets)

Simon had dug himself in on top of the highest rooftop he could find.
He had a camoflauge netting strung over his position, not your typical military issued, this netting was something he fabricated to look like sheets of metal and debris scattered.
He looked down the scope of the Barrett .50 caliber sniper rifle.
Simon was hunting mutated beasts or humanoids, whichever came first in his view.
It started off with a nice cool crisp morning hike, and now by midday, the heat was getting unbearable as he laid here in this position. Waiting.
Simon was used to that, the waiting game, but this time would be different.
He had hung a fresh leg of lamb from a lightpole several hundred yards away.
"Tic tock ,tic tock"

Ebe watched as Aliva beckoned her. "Nah. I'll head back in too."

Ebe followed for a few paces with Aliva. "When and what is for dinner?" she asked as her stomach grumbled.

Ebe hadn't eaten yet for the day. Instead, she wandered around the edges of the base with Ramune for some time. It was partially for exercise, but it was also to take a break from chit-chat and chores.

Though she did take her chores seriously as she helped contribute to making things stay "well-oiled" and the elders happy.

"Any strange infected tales from the base today?" Ebe asked Aliva, curious about the monsters that roamed the world.

Sure, she was spoiled--she knew it. She only went out a few runs that were deemed safe enough for the young ones. She'd only ever encountered wild Harin, Lions, or Spinned Lions similar to Spike.

The most dangerous creature she helped take down with several others was a mutated spiked wolf.

"Ah, we could go out and look for sheep or horses."
Aliva unconsciously checked if she still had her axe.

Patting the sharp edge, she took it out and surveyed the axe.
It was a bit beaten, and the edge looked blunt, but she decided it would work for the rest of the year.

She smiled when Ebe asked about Infected.
She knew a lot about them, just by watching and surveying them.
"There was one wandering around close to base. You didn't see it? One of the guards got it before it could even get over here."

(Base)

Eden walked inside the bunker room, Laying her rifle against the wall.
"This place sucks, why do we have to stay here?"
"Why can't we be out there, doing something , instead of just nothing."
She sat down at the chair and looked back and forth at Ebe and Aliva.

"Lamb sounds delicious," Ebe replied to Aliva. As they made their way inside the base camp in one bunker room, Ebe heard Aliva mention a guard taking down one infected outside the perimeters.

Ebe spotted Eden and waved at her quickly.

"I mean, it's safer in here?" Ebe offered, not sure if that was the best counterargument.

She, too, wanted to wander outside the safe zone into the streets, the forest, or even the mountains. But it wasn't safe for her--or anyone. She doubted she'd survive a few days alone.

No, it was safer in here.

"I'll get some equipment, but I have to ask Sargent first. You wanna come if he says yeah?"
As they walked inside one of the base camps, she saw Eden approaching. She nodded her head, to say hi.
She was a bit confused on why Eden would ask. She must know what's out there, right?
"Yeah, it is safer. Travelling at night is dangerous.. Sargent told me we'd move camp, but I don't think we are. There's too many people.."

"Why can't we just sneak out?"
"We are all armed, and we know how to use them if things turn ugly."
Eden sighed , "Don't you miss having fun, I wanna have some fun, maybe we can find a camp of hunky guys."

Ebe frowned at Eden's responses. She wasn't good at hiding her feelings on her face despite being the quiet type.

The cynical part of personality climbed its way from her stomach to her Ebe's mouth as she responded, "You want to sneak out of the perfect safe base to find hunky guys?"

Well, she never much doubted the power of horny-ness in teenagers before.

"I don't mind going a run to find some prey, but hunky guys are on the back burner for sure." Ebe felt like she might need to make her stance clear.

"I mean unless you both feel otherwise." She still wanted to fit in with both teens as being an outsider while comfortable could be rather lonely.

"By the way, either of you have a crossbow?"

Eden held her assault rifle up, "This baby, all I need."
"No, I just said that hoping it would convince you two lame asses to join me out There beyond our wall." Eden grinned wickedly.

"I mean, you can go if you want. Nobody's stopping you."
She shrugs.
"I'll go ask, if we can go to at least explore."

Aliva passes Ebe and Eden, walking into Sargent's room.
Minutes later, she comes out with a smile.
"We can go for food, he said to be careful. And don't die."

"You sure? Even I can't go into battle, carrying a rocket launcher. I'll need people on all sides."

"Always asking permission, such a loser." Eden mumbled as she hopped up to her feet.
She looked at Aliva, " Do you need to visit the little girls room to tinkle first?"

"Hah. Veeery funny."
"Do you have to get Infected to know what not and what to do?"

"Oh my God again with the lectures, it's not my first rodeo, I didn't grow up on the base ya know." Eden said coldly.
" Look, are we going or not. "
Eden swayed her hips to the door, pulling her sunglasses down.
"Do try and keep up little miss thang."

"Whatever."
She pushed past Eden and walked out the door. As soon as her shoes touched bare land, she whistled.
Spike and Wolf appeared in no time. Wolf soared through the air, Spike following fast on foot.
Making her way towards the two, she screamed over the loud beating of wings.
"Let's go!"
