Well as long as you don't go indepth into the Tahjai (since my focus for now will be on them and on the son of Avitus, the Battle Mage who Eilis killed) I have my reasons for why they are after Eilis and what they try to accomplish.
You however have free reign of anything else of the empire regarding anything else so surprise me.

Also meet Scylla one of two sisters...

Not going in depth regarding the Tahjai but it may ven diagram it along with the sorcerer king, the current story line, and the current war.

Regarding this and any upcoming fight. I was thinking I can do a two or three moves then switch that way we can keep the fight going. I dont want to NPC your moves

That would be fine. As for Scylla, she is intended as a somewhat longterm villain so I need her to stay alive for now.

I wonder if she will remain Arn's sweetheart? You might need Scylla to overcome her now.

lol, I see what you mean. Nice twist. I think though that if Arn lets himself go too, he could enjoy the darkness. But he cares enough for her that he would not want her in that place.

Question, your characters seem to be following more mystical type spells while the way I understood magic posed by Merlin as more of a physical manipulation and manifestation. not saying I am against it but just wondering what sort of rules or system you seem to be utilizing.

Also, maybe I read it wrong but did Tyr just get stabbed through he chest or just knocked back maybe few crushed ribs?

Well not to spoil too much:

1) Eilis isn't in a dark place.

2) They both may use 'old words in expression' but they themselves are the ones that pull and manipulate the Aether in accordance to their link with it. The words themselves are more words of focus and not necessarily spells, they are of the same language though.

3) I will however agree that it may seem mystical and powerful but remember Eilis's magic normally works as a conduit, she still is bound.
The soul is linked to the Aether, the body the battery and vessel.

4) No you didn't read it wrong, poor Tyr got blinded and stabbed.

Spoiler hint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFBNAj7P7Nw

Also I will write a proper reply tomorrow.

Ok, I kinda get it. The words are more like a way to channel a practiced utilization of the Aether. Sort of muscle memory.

I get the conduit thing but if we are still following the Merlin's Cannon then this might be an evolutionary magic or it could actually be utilizing ancient methods.

I feel like in the current futuristic meld society they would think more scientifically with few mages truly unlocking the mystical and obscure. Maybe that is why the Sorcerer King became so powerful?

Again, not saying anything against it, just wondering how Arn can actually compete against this sort of casting and power lol. He feels like a little novice right now.

I think I told you Eilis is called a Rhevendahli (Person from Rhevendahl). Rhevendahl is now part of the Empire, but it used to be a small independant country, that was before the Sorcerer King conquered it. The Rhevendahli were fearsome magic users and are now some of Vaim's most powerful warriors. Now how and why Eilis is connected to all of this...that's the question isn't it?
As for Arn he will be able to hold his own, the girls simply put may use a different sort of magic, technically Arn is still more powerful.
The situation with Eilis though is different... she isn't supposed to be this powerful... buuut you're going to need to do some detective work of your own in order to find out why.
As for it being mystical...maybe it being slightly more ritualistic, but what I have planned is far from ancient. (Grins wickedly)

Lol, in a Frodo voice "fine Keep your secrets"

Ok, well cool. I mean, Arn is not a Master Mage for nothing and he is very in tune with the Aether having performed many experiments as noted in the other RP. So I was not saying that he is not a challenge but I know that he is really questionioning how capable he actually is lol.

I will definitely dive into trying to figure out more about Eilis. I mean, they technically have only known each other about a day or so lol.

Question, do you think that Arn is behaving too amorous towards Eilis? I mean, I am not necessarily trying to portray it that way but he is very stricken and drawn to her. Is it possible for a person to be so into another person and it not be amorous?

Smirks like a proper wizard.

Well I always assumed it would have more to do with the energies of the Aether. I mean mages would be more drawn to other mages because they are more on their level either of understanding the world as they see it as knowing, feeling and controlling the Aether.
For example to Tyrhallan it is simple fact the Aether is there because he read it in a book and he can see the effects of it. But he doesn't feel the Aether or link with it as much as Arn or Eilis does.

Whilst I cannot speak for Arn I know that Eilis solely depends on him. From the moment she awoke on the ship to now she considers Arn to be her lifeline. Without him she would be lost and more than likely dead or worse, so she regards him as her saviour, a true friend. Eilis has had some twisted upbringing she doesn't really know how to act or what society standards are, she simply is used to being told what to do.
All she knows is here is a man who is supposed to be my enemy and he offered me help and comfort forsaking his own...he has been nothing but welcoming, protective and kind and Eilis certainly feels connected to him.

Being too Amorous though...I don't know. Maybe a tad, but I don't consider it troublesome. They are mages...mages are weird in the first place so maybe it could be simply the link to the Aether at play here.
Usually there is an underlying attraction whether it is physical, spiritual or simply a shared emotional moment it only becomes amorous if Arn truly seeks to pursue it.

I completely agree with your explanation and that is what I was basing my descriptions regarding their connectedness. I feel that the stronger the affinity and by extension magic prowess, to the Aether the stronger the connection would be to others. Or at least the stronger the sense of them. Maybe even like a magnetic field with varying levels of magnetism.

As for the amorous part, I want to remind you that the man is still very naive and innocent on certain matters. Especially girls. All he knows is from the house of sin he grew up on. As you stated, he is very attracted to her and maybe in his male mind may be whispering things that are not necessarily true but his young mind, a tween really, is telling him he likes the girl but what that really means is a mystery to him.

One thing is for certain, he does not like anybody messing with the people he considers important lol.

They are two misfits who have found each other and neither does she...she just has a lot to deal with atm.

Also did you watch the Dark Crystal by any chance? (Both the film and netflix series)

Also fun fact everytime I read 'Arn' I always have to think of the character from the prince valiant series that I used to watch when I was little. Funny though as your Arn looks nothing like the Arn from the show.

I watched the Dark crystal a very long time ago in Spanish. I have not seen the series.

Also, I am afraid that the only prince valiant I know was in the Sunday comic strips.

Yes, I think poor Arn is thinking that poor Eilis does have a lot of baggage lol.

I was reading the story and I did a very dainty "Oh My!" lol

Thus the plot thickens...carefully placing the tips of the fingers against one another. Well? What will our poor Arn do?

@Omni5876I am so sorry for the terrible long absence. I have had an extremely long and tiring work week and simply was too worn out to reply.
(Falling asleep behind the laptop once or twice)

But I hope this bigger breadcrumb satisfies you.

I don't know if I mentioned this earlier, but I work with the elderly and even without Corona things sometimes take so much extra time and care to the point where you'll end up working longer hours than intended.
Lately because of Corona we had a couple of sick colleagues, so aside from taking over shifts you also get all the extra 'care measures' or as I like to call it walking around in 'the bee suit'. But even as a non religious person you shoot a little prayer up at the sky going 'please not again' when another colleague needs to be tested. Thankfully, all the elderly now have gotten the vaccine and had no further side effects after the first injection, so they'll be a bit more safe, because I don't think I could handle a another wave of infections.

I dont recall you mentioning that but thanks for the info. Yeah stay safe out there and dont stress too much about replies. While it always brings a smile to my face to read a reply I understand that you may be streched thin. That being said, let me now if you ever want to go ahead and pursue other options. Ill reply when I can do the reply justice.
