Despite Silverstar's best efforts she couldn't help but overhear the harsh words and snapped responses from Sparrowsplash and Pikeleap. She was forever grateful for his ability to be a forceful presence compared to her own. He might sound harsh, but she knew he only had the best interests in mind for the clan and its ability to stay united in difficult times. If they were going to war with DuskClan, and possibly ThornClan depending on Emberstar's response, they shouldn't be fighting amongst themselves. That would only lead to more deaths.
"I was there and the DuskClan cats seemed just as confused and terrified as the rest of us," Hailshine spoke up, more quietly than Sparrowsplash but still loud enough to be heard, "It was horrible and Foxstar was as abrasive as always, but I don't think the whole clan is responsible." The silvery she-cat seemed to want to say something else, but snapped her jaws shut and ducked her head instead.
It might be worthwhile to speak with both the warriors that traveled to the Moonbrook the night before, she'd already spoken to Dew-whisker and heard her perspective on the matter, but hearing more sides of things never hurt. If they could figure out who was responsible, within DuskClan or otherwise, they might be able to stop this war before it began and save a great deal of lives. She watched Skyfrost push her two young kits back into the nursery and steeled herself to do everything within her power to protect her clan.
She stepped closer to Pikeleap and gently brushed her tail along his flank to convey her gratitude at his support, as gruff as it was. "If anyone feels they have genuine concerns, not harsh words, they can speak with me about it. In the meantime, Lightningnose, Hailshine, if the two of you could join me I'd very much like to hear what it was you both saw." She flicked her tail for the other she-cats to follow and made for her den with a nod to Pikeleap, she knew he'd keep the peace and get patrols organized while she handled this.
