Though you may have earned that title by now.
Phhh, me, a saint? Maybe the patron of unsaintliness.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Though you may have earned that title by now.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
Phhh, me, a saint? Maybe the patron of unsaintliness.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Patron of Storms and Darkness, sounds like a cool title.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
While you get to be the Lord of Storms and Darkness? That's way cooler.
<Snipped quote by Host>
That is a cooler title, yes. But the implication was that you're the matron saint of our family, and I think "saint" outranks "lord" in terms of hierarchy.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
Is it? I'll never understand your species' obsession with hierarchies. Or any of the others'.
<Snipped quote by Host>
I dunno if I have a "species" at this point, but yeah. The innate desire to rule or be ruled is strong in most living things. To quote a once-wise man, "All creatures want to believe in something bigger than themselves. They cannot live without blind obedience. And to escape the pressure of that trust, those in whom faith is placed in turn look for someone higher than themselves. And then those people in turn look for someone even stronger. That is how all Kings are born. That is how all Gods are born."
Out of all my lost memories, that one stays strong.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
Your insect hives make much more sense to me. All of them collaborate, working together toward a common goal. Isn't that the best way to get anything done?
<Snipped quote by Host>
Even they are ruled by a single queen. They're also without individuality. Sure, working together works wonders, but there's always a leader of some kind. And when there isn't, those who believe themselves to be one work to destroy that unity. The Tower of Babel is a good example. The one with power was threatened by the unity of those without, so it broke that unity.
*Sighs happily* This sort of thing is what makes mortals so fascinating, and part of why I went down the path of biology more than mechanics.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
Mechanics are at least consistent. Mortals are far from it.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Heh, it's all programing in the end.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
Which is a kinda depressing way of looking at it.
<Snipped quote by Host>
That's part of why I love you. You don't have any anymore. You're real, to borrow the way some humans think.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
*Laughs*
Many of those same humans would call me empty and fake.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Maybe, but we both know humans are idiots.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
True that. Not limited to humans either.
<Snipped quote by Host>
Right.
<Snipped quote by Yatagarasu>
All that said, I’ll try to avoid burning the place down again.
*Walks back to the kitchen*
<Snipped quote by Host>
Heh, thanks.
<Snipped quote by Vacare>
There’s something large built into this thing. Really large.
