Sword Art Online (SAO) is a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG), released in 2022. With the Nerve Gear, a virtual reality helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. On November 6, 2022, the players log in for the first time, and soon discover that they are unable to log out. To escape their new reality, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if their avatars die in-game, their bodies will also die in the real world.

This roleplay will be based off the popular light novel, manga and anime series, Sword Art Online and will follow the lives of around eight original characters from the moment they first log in to... well, to whatever happens to them. I've seen dozens of SAO RPs come and go, but the most successful I've ever seen on RPG was the original Survive the Swordlands on the old Guild. There's only two of us here now, but we're just as committed to seeing this one through as ever.

Anyone who knows SAO knows what to expect, if you don't, well... top paragraph basically. Don't let the roughness of this INT fool you, the RP will be on the higher end of Casual and a certain amount of commitment and literacy required. Not asking for walls, but three or four paragraphs, at least twice weekly is ideal/

So... anyone interested?

I could be interested in something like this. How freely would the participants be able to join in on the world-making? And would we be a group - a guild maybe - or would we be split up?

The overall world will be the same as it is in the canon, with tweaks here and there to make it more RP-able. Everyone's input and ideas will be included as well, so long as it isn't over the top. As for the guild, I'm not sure; it depends on what people want. It would be best to have everyone together in a group for the most part though.

Well, the series isn't all that detailed on many points. A group would definitely be simpler, but we should wait for more interest before starting to make too many decisions.
