Well, that puts us at 4.

Basic PMD lore is basically:

-humans don't exist, or if they do, they're basically fairy tales. You play as a human in a couple of the games, but you're turned into a pokemon for one reason or another.

-Pokemon can all conveniently speak English

-Pokemon live in towns and cities, just like us. They have their own currency, laws, trade, etc.

-there are still "wild" pokemon, but they're basically just either living out in the wild instead of cities or whatnot.

TL;DR You don't actually need to know the plot of any of the games, just imagine the world of pokemon but humans are replaced with pokemon.

As for what you'll actually be doing, you're basically working at an adventurer's guild as a Rescue Team. As the name implies, you go out to rescue pokemon that have gotten lost, gotten trapped, gone missing, been kidnapped, etc. Though your duties aren't limited to just that. Sometimes you go out for scouting, finding items, delivering things, escorting pokemon, the works. Your guild typically has job listings up on a job board where you can pick and choose what kind of quest you want to go on. Sometimes however, pokemon may request your team specifically for one reason or another, or your guild leader may send you out on a specific mission for one reason or another.

That's really all you need to know about PMD.

And your character normally starts out in the first stage line, unless it's a Pokémon that doesn't evolve anyway.

So you can to write for a Charmander all you want, Roxy. XD
