Growing up Astrid was always shy. She was the one who stood in the corner at family events, with her legs crossed and eyes to the floor, attempting her best to not draw any attention to herself. Often soft-spoken, Astrid has grown into herself and does her best to speak out. There are many things that fly over her head, like jokes and flirting. Being bit of a geek she sometimes forgets social cues in a way that causes her nerves and anxiousness to kick out.
She is generally a sweet, sweet person, but again, with age she has learned to be more refined. Astrid still carries her heart on her sleeve, the kindness oozing out of her, but that once naive wallflower has blossomed into a naive sunflower in a field of roses.

Astrid was born and raised in New York City along side her then best friend and cousin, Nicole. They lived in different boroughs of New York City, but Astrid's family visited quite often as their mothers were sisters, and close ones at that. Having mothers who were each other's best friends made it a no brainer that the two cousins would end up being the best of friends too. Their friendship was built on family and innocence, but it couldn't always last forever.
It was during her transition into middle school that Astrid and her family moved away for her father's new job. It took them to the other side of the country, on the bright sunny, sandy shores of California.
Living in California was hard for Astrid as everyone there was tall, beautiful, and talented, not to mention sun-kissed skin was something she was not blessed with. Astrid was the complete opposite. She was a shy, awkward, timid girl with big, bright red rimmed glasses to top it off her hair was always in a pony-tailed mess. And the whole thing with sun screen protecting someone from burning, that wasn't a thing for Astrid as no amount of sun screen protected her from becoming a tomato after a few hours at the beach.
It wasn't until high school that Astrid began filling in and finding herself. She found a comfort and outlet in writing and became quite independent and good with it. As time moved on, so did the relationship between Astrid and Cole. They grew up in different directions, Astrid hearing of her cousin's adventures and antics from their mothers weekly phone calls or the every so often they got a chance to speak and catch up.
Wanting to find a way to be more like Cole, Astrid began studying harder than ever, doing whatever she could so she would be able to go to college in New York City to be closer to Nicole. But to her surprise they ended up doing the opposite of one another, with Cole heading to California for college and Astrid going to Cornell in New York.
College were the years that Astrid truly blossomed into a person she could be confident in. People, more so boys, started noticing her more. She grew into her red-rimmed glasses and her messy blonde locks began to curl and wave. A lot of help did come from makeup, but having no real skill in applying it to herself didn't make too much of a difference. Her striking baby blues were always a plus to have too when it came to catching the attention of others, but no matter how much she tried, Astrid was still the shy, awkward girl she knew she was.
Her confidence only showed when it came through her writing, so after graduating from Cornell she found a job at a small multimedia company as an editor. She has been there since then, having found a steady job that pays well, with a mission she believes in, but still hasn't found any confidence in herself.
Even if they grew apart Astrid was ecstatic, with her heart exploding with joy, the moment she was invited to be one of Cole's bridesmaids for her wedding. She had met the groom Darien a few times when they were younger, but vaguely remembers him, or so she likes to mention.
But nonetheless, Astrid was blessed to be part of the wedding and not to mention she probably deserved a bit of a vacation and some time to have fun.
