Appearance: Despite the baggy jacket he wears over his uniform, Leif's body is fairly toned and muscular from years spent swimming. When it comes to the school uniform, Leif doesn't really care about the strict regulations. He doesn't like standing out and would rather not be noticed. The only alterations he typically makes are wearing his jacket over the uniform and untucking his shirt (usually the jacket hides this, but he's been caught on occasion). When questioned why he keeps doing this he just shrugs and responds with "It's too restrictive". When not in class, Leif tends to prefer more rugged clothing. A closer look at his body would reveal scars on his hands, limbs, and torso. He's been in his fair share of fights and prefers protection over comfort.
Background: Prior to arriving at Harbour Academy, Leif lived with his parents in the city of Halifax in Nova Scotia. Lief's father was a former member of the Canadian Navy, and made it his mission to instill strong values in his son from an early age. As far back as Leif can remember, his dad would take him camping in the Canadian wilderness as a means of getting away from the city. During these 'camping trips', Leif's dad would force his son into dangerous situations in order to 'toughen him up'. While it started simply enough such as build a fire, hunt a turkey with no weapons, or rock climbing; the tasks quickly began to get harder as Leif got older. He was eventually tasked with surviving for a week with no supplies, scale a cliff with no climbing gear, or swim a mile in the Atlantic Ocean. While some might say this was too much for a child, Leif eventually came to look forward to these challenges as a way of 'proving himself' to his family.
As a result of the time with his dad, Leif never really got a chance to connect with other kids his age. At one point, he began to think of himself as more of an animal than a human with how much time he spent in the wild. Nevertheless, his dad's work paid off as Leif grew into a tough and resilient teenager. The downside of this meant that he was looked on as 'the weird kid' in school and was often a subject of ridicule among his peers. One day, the teasing boiled over and Leif lashed out at another student, earning him a suspension from school. Rather than let her son serve his time go back to a place where he wasn't accepted, Leif's mother instead pulled him out of his school and sent out an application to a colleague of hers who taught at Harbour Academy. In her mind, it would do Leif some good to get away from his father and meet students who didn't view him as a freak.
Now at Harbour, Leif has started to come out of his shell... if only slightly. Despite having a few 'friends' on the swim team, they aren't exactly best buddies. He won't admit it, but Leif has been suffering from a bit of homesickness since arriving at the academy and longs to go back to Nova Scotia so he can swim in the ocean again - his biggest pleasure.
Misc.: -Leif is a surprisingly good cook. He's used to catching his own meals thanks to his time hunting and is just as effective with an open fire as he is cooking on a stove. -Leif has an encyclopedic knowledge of mushrooms. On weekends, he likes to go into the forest and look for wild mushrooms to cook with back in his dorm. -Under his shaggy blond hair, Leif has dull blue - almost grey - eyes. When summoning his persona, they change color and become a bright unnaturally blue color.
Weapon: A Seax Knife - Leif's weapon of choice is a 'Sea Axe' or a seax knife. A short knife with a thick blade, Leif can swing it around as effectively as a sword. His brute strength makes this weapon especially deadly.
Persona: Leviathan
Appearance: Leaviathan takes the form of a large blue sea-serpent. The scales along its body shimmer in a bright blue color. Oddly enough, whenever Leviathan is summoned to the battlefield, the air around it starts to get heavier. Almost as if the moisture in the air is increasing around it. When speaking, Leviathan has a voice that can only be described as "the sound of waves crashing against the land".
Moveset: Unsurprisingly, Leviathan's main affinity is the water element. In addition to that, it also has a few wind based abilities to 'whip up storms'. Finally, on the status end, Leviathan has the power to inflict 'fear' upon its enemies. Upon victory, Leviathan takes its foes in its jaws and drags them to the bottom of the Sea of Unconsciousness.
Although I'm locked in on Odradek at the moment, and happily so, it occurred to me that it might be fun to turn more legendary explorers and/or pirates into Personas like ERode is doing with Shackleton. Imagine a Persona based off Magellan, a legless specter complete with puffy sleeves, floppy hat, beard, a ship's sail as a cape, and perhaps a compass for a face (or just compasses for eyes), embracing a globe of the world. Wind element, maybe.
