The Town of Baulderwood
Up in the hills of California, right on the outskirts of those forested ridges on the edge of a lake is a little mediocre town called Baulderwood. Ever entrenched in mist. It's a frequent enough pit stop for folks on their way through for the gold rush. Though I should rightly warn that most folks who pass through where the whole areas bad news, but its still barely kicking. Ah, a few years back the mine was pulling in a good deal of copper, but that mostly dried up and now-a-days folks are after gold, not copper. All that remains of the ol' mine is the entrance, and the extensive tunnels it connects to. Well, and there is some hear-say about things in the mine. The souls of dead miners, the devil, so-on. Come to think of it, back in those days the Braojo tribe was a bit more interested in trade, til' one day they all just up and disappeared. Nothin' but those bone totems of theirs that you can still find here and there in the woods.
That's enough about what was, better to tell about what is. Towns got a saloon, a barber, a undertaker, a sheriff and a few general goods shops. Most of it is abandoned miner's barracks and the ol' church burned down. Still local population's around sixty, plus what ever rabble travels though. Mayor's a real shutter bug, doesn't like to be seen I suppose. People some times call the misty woods in those hills the Whispering Hills, reason being in the fog, sure enough supposedly, you can hear whispers. Superstition, sure, after all who's whispering? Souls of the dead? The Braojo tribe? Eh, bunch a fools. None the less, if your passin' through you should be careful, more than ghost and goblins to worry about out west. Good luck to you partner...
