Now, the Brass Hegemony is a shell of its former self, and the great, expansive New City remains largely empty. The Reaping King remains hidden and quiet in his Folded Palace, and his legions of automata have retreated to those lands he directly administers.
In recent years, the provincial rulers of the Gyre have begun to fight among themselves, and seek to find their new hegemon, at least in lieu. But power shifts for everyone, not just humanity, and the Anak to the south can plainly see what is happening to their north, and in deeps and hives and reefs and shadowy dens, Outsiders stir. Not all wars take place where they can be seen, and there are perilous forces on the move, throughout the whole Latter Earth.
You have chosen to seek your fortune against this backdrop, as an adventurer. The savage lands of the Latter Earth are always supportive of this profession of danger, and your kind is known throughout the world. In times of change, such as this plainly is, it becomes even more lucrative, for those willing to risk cruel death.
