Ying didn't know much of Aisling's background, but Ying knew one thing at least: Aisling's father was one who was quick to anger. She didn't mean to listen in together with Aisling and Runiaka when Aisling's father - Mr Smythe, she heard some others calling him that - was making a huge ruckus downstairs in the cafe area. A part of Ying felt sorry for Aisling; despite having all the riches she could spend on food and things, it seemed Aisling didn't have a good, loving family. Ying was the direct opposite - Papa, Mama and Sissy treated her with great love and care like a normal family should. True, they didn't have much gold and silver in the house, but they lived happily in their small, cozy hut in Silver Clan Village.

In between angry yelling and conversations below, Ying suddenly realized the place was magical indeed. Aisling's father and the rest who were with him didn't manage to spot them at all once they got onto the bus; that was interesting.

“Your stuff is all ready in it. Please come down and have your dinner. It’s about time to go so we don’t cause any more trouble.” Runiaka spoke to them both, and Ying nodded. Thanks to the owl necklace, it was easier to understand what was being said. Ying followed Runiaka down to the lower deck of the bus.

Ying's eyes widened in amazement. It was impressive that the bus could hold so many rooms and items. The upper level that they were on was mostly bedrooms with their assigned numbers, and now on the lower level, there were many tall, rectangular containers by the side, and in the centre of the space stood a big dining table with chairs. Ying peered at the containers and saw many bottles and cans of assorted drinks. It was something new and fascinating to her; they didn't have anything like this back in her world. She wondered how the machines work, but then her thoughts were abruptly distracted by the intense hunger pangs within her. Goodness, she didn't realize she was that hungry...

"Dinner sounds good, I'm starving ahah," Ying said brightly. "I would love to try that chicken burger and hot latte for dinner if that's still available...or are we having something else for dinner?" She went to the nearest chair and sat by the dining table, thoughtful. Then Ying looked at Runiaka and asked the most nagging question on her mind, "So...what's next? What plans do you have after this?"

"Our lessons will begin with how to get food and drinks out of the vending machines. What to do with your trash and clean up messes. I will be the one who will lead the labs as well. This will be your vending card and this will be your classroom supplies card. Let's use the vending card first. Follow me through the line. Each tray will have holes to set items in them. Just press the picture icon of what you want to eat. Place a tray in the slot and make choices on the way...." Runiaka demonstrated.

"What are labs?" Ying blurted, but her body was already heading to one of the nearest vending machines, driven by hunger. She stared at the food icons as Runiaka explained and demonstrated the vending machine operations. Well...not that she knew how each food tasted like anyway. They all looked so foreign to her, but Ying shrugged and simply pressed what appeared to be some food and a drink, no longer fazed by events and things of this world. A plate of seafood marinara pasta and a cup of iced lemon tea appeared on her tray, and Ying took her food, brows raised.

"Huh...what's this? I see mussels in my food..." Ying gave her food a sniff and shook her head. Wrong choice it seemed. She wasn't a picky eater but if there was something she would not consume for the life of her, it would be seafood. Her tribe was half-merman half-human, and even though her tribesmen, including her family, still fed on seafood, she wasn't inclined to follow suit since childhood. And it quickly developed into a strong aversion.

Ying felt conflicted, unsure how to deal with the food on her tray. Looking at Runiaka and Aisling, she asked, "What do I do if I picked the wrong food? I didn't know this has seafood in it, and I don't do seafood..."

"I'd suggest that you will need to put that tray into the Recycler Bin. " Runiaka spoke with a smile as she looked at the plate.
"If you can't read the icon, touch it and the icon will change into your own language."
Runiaka then walked over to a seat and placed her tray down. Spaghetti and meatballs smelled so tempting that it was hard to wait for the students to get their food.

Aisling chose fried chicken with mashed potatoes, hot tea and a couple cookies. She smiled as she hurried to her seat. Everything was ready to be eaten.

"Once all of us are done eating, I will explain how classes and labs will work. There will be many choices and a few required classes that both of you must take." Runiaka explained as she waited.

Ying's heart sank a little as she obediently binned her pasta. She did consider asking Aisling if she would like to have it but it seemed Aisling had already decided what to eat, a smile on her face evident as she carried her tray of fried chicken with mashed potatoes, hot tea and cookies. Food wastage was something she was not inclined to make a habit of, but Ying made a solemn promise to herself not to repeat the same mistake ever again. And to think those mussels and shrimps had sacrificed their lives...

Ying cleared her thoughts away and fumbled a bit with each button before she finally pressed on a new icon more confidently. There, she finally got her chicken burger. She decided against pressing for a cup of hot latte seeing that she already had a cup of iced lemon tea from earlier. No matter, there's always next time to try new food and beverages, she thought.

She dug into her dinner and gasped in surprise. Her burger...how fascinating with those slabs of nicely seasoned two all-chicken patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun! Her iced drink was also equally yummy, making for a refreshing beverage to wash her food down. Ying had never felt this satisfied from a meal after so long. Family dinner used to be a simple fare, of plain white rice, some stir-fried vegetables and braised meat. Only on special occasions, such as celebrating the annual Harvest Festival or the Lunar New Year, would she be able to enjoy more exotic delicacies prepared using various cooking techniques reserved only for such merry affairs.

"Wow, dinner was...perfect." She commented after having finished the remaining of her drink. She binned her trash and placed her tray back at where it belonged. Patting her full tummy, she grinned at Runiaka and Aisling. "Well ladies, I am ready for whatever that is ahead of us."

Aisling took care of her trash and wiped down her place with a disposable wipe.
"I am ready as well. What kinds of classes will we have? " she asked.

"Some are required and others will be your choice." Runiaka spoke as she finishes up.
"First, use your pass key to get out the Personal LapTop system or PLTs."

Aisling went to her cubby hole and open it and found the PLTs. She sat down with it.

Upon hearing Runiaka's instructions, Ying blinked. She had no idea what Personal LapTop system or PLTs were, but she imitated Aisling, going to her own cubby hole and opening it with her pass key. She grabbed the laptop, which felt like a totally foreign object in her hand, and sat down next to Aisling.

"These PLTs are sentient which means that it can think and feel sensations. How it does it, I am not sure. I just know that the more that you use it, the smarter it will become because it has hidden programs that can be tapped into. This PLTs will be the most valued piece of equipment that you will own. I will take you through each step to set up your own PLTs.
First, you open the lid up like this...(demonstrates how to open it). As you look at it, you will see a blue screen at the top and a keyboard at the bottom. I have a binder with instructions on how to do everything on the PLTs."
Runiaka got the binders out of her cubby hole. She then handed a binder to each girl.
"Please take time to read the first chapter then I will answer any questions.

Your Academic Equipment Binder

This Binder will hold all of the information that you will need for any classroom equipment. Each section will be about 1 particular equipment and you organize it in such a way that it makes sense to you personally. If you run out of dividers, just ask for more and they will be provided to you.

Section 1:
Your PLTs (Personal Laptop system) is a very unique piece of equipment. It is very Essential to you. It holds all of the information that you need plus more.
They are super sensitive to touch. In fact, believe it or not, these PLTs are sentient. That means that it can think and feel on its own. I want to have you to be the first ones to touch them barehanded and imprint your aura on your own laptop. After your initial Imprintation, the PLTs will only work for you.

The case is opened from the front like so. When it is open, you will see the screen, the keyboard, and some new features. Keep the protective sheets on the areas when they are not being use will make your PLTs working at its peak. For the moment, please remove the two handprint sheets then place your hands on those two pads like the picture that was on there. Leave your hands on the pads so that the PLTs will register your unique Aura. After that is properly done, your PLTs will only allow you to enter information on it. You will know that it is done because it will begin to ask you a series of questions starting with your name, age, gender, likes and dislikes.

Ying took the binder from Runiaka and a frown formed on her face. So many instructions...but that was all part of the learning process she supposed. Breathing out a sigh, she took time to carefully go through each line, her owl necklace magically allowing her the ability to translate those texts into her mother tongue.

She fumbled with her PLT for a bit. Instructions said that she was to imprint herself with the laptop, to make a connection with it so that the object will recognize her as the master and the only person who could access it later on. Hmm, that was interesting. There was no such technology or magical item back in her world.

She did as told, like what Runiaka had mentioned to both Aisling and her, the screen came to life and upon acknowledging her unique Aura, a series of questions popped up. Ying took a while to go through the questions and answered them accordingly:

Ying frowned, looking conflicted after filling up her form. She was, after all, an imposter in the Academy, pretending to be her sister, Qian Yun, who was already gone from the world together with her parents during a clan war back in her world. She wondered if it would be considered a breach of trust that would subject her to being expelled from the school if Runiaka or whoever in the higher administrative positions of the Academy knew her real identity. But it's not like they can revive her dear sister back...

Mentally shaking her head, Ying strengthened her resolve. For better or worse, she will explain her case only when it was required by the Academy. Surely the school admins will understand her plight...or will they not?

Having filled up the welcoming form, Ying said quietly, "I'm done with my form..."

Aisling filled out her form after she imprinted the PLTs. It was kinda cool to have a notebook that recognizes her own aura.

"I guess that I am done as well. What shall we do next?" she asks.

"Your assignment for tonight is to straighten up your room and choose your classes. This time I would like for you to forward the classes sheet to me so that I can decide what we will start with. Find the folder labeled 'Class possibilities' when you are ready to the class worksheet. Any questions?" Runiaka asked.

1. Basketry- Learn how to make a basket which you can use. This is a short course and is very easy to do.
2. Calligraphy- Auto Robots will teach this class. Learn how to write elegantly. You will have a chance of making your own style if you wish to do so.
3. Loom Weaving- Learn to weave your own cloth
4. Jewelry Making- How to use the materials available here on this planet to make beautiful designs in jewelry
5. Spinning- How to card the cotton or wool then making thread or yarn with the material.
6. Musical Instrument- Auto Robots will teach this class. Learn how to play one instrument of your choice
7. Sewing and Design- Learn how to make patterns and your own clothes.
Both of you will take:
1. Mediation Techniques daily
2. Physical Education - Exercise, Training for Magic all in one- daily
3. Wands and their use in the Magick World- What are we to do with our wands now that we have them.
4. Air/Currents Magic

Ying navigated to the folder labeled "Class possibilities" as instructed by Runiaka. Basketry sounded practical and easy, so Ying picked that among the others. Another one...well, Musical Instrument sounded fun, but years of practicality and living on survival mode made Ying fell back to another more practical skill: Sewing and Design. Who knows, perhaps she might need that skill someday.

"Alright, I've picked Basketry and Sewing and Design. Hmm...so apart from these two classes, what's this...Mediation, Physical Education, Wands and Air/Currents sessions? Sounds like a lot of exercises," Ying commented, looking slightly surprised. It wasn't that she was shocked but she did wonder if she could cope with the lessons.

"Right, I'm done...and I guess I'm ready." Ying added with a helpless smile.

Aisling read through all of the classes and decided on Sewing and Design as well as Jewelry Making which sounded like fun to match up her jewelry with her new outfits that she would make. Rest of the classes were chosen for her so she spoke up and said
"I am done. What shall we do next?" Aisling spoke quietly as she thought about learning magick.

"I suggest that you get a snack and a couple drinks or more. Then go upstairs and check out your room, make your bed and put away your stuff. There is an upstairs lounge that you can visit in or in each other's room. I'll be around to check on you. Tomorrow we will take in the Ghost Town and The Mall. In The Mall, you will be allowed to shop for anything you want from candy and new clothes to games and magazines. You will be given a gift card so you won't need money. And I will give you a list of things for class to buy. That is all that I have for you tonight. Let's will start to dim at 8:50 which gives you 10 minutes to get to your room. You will have an hour to get ready for bed."

Aisling stood up and smiled as she spoke
"Thank you, Miss Runiaka."

She headed to the machines and got 3 pepsis plus some chips for a snack later maybe.

"Thank you, Miss Runiaka," Ying echoed after Aisling, and got herself a bottled water, 2 cans of green tea and biscuits after some fumbling at the machines. It would take her a while to get used to the technologies so unlike her world here.

Following Runiaka's instructions, she dutifully trudged up the stairs to her designated room number 2. It was the closest to the stairs, so Ying grinned at her luck in choosing such a convenient spot to settle in. She had always preferred easy access to escape routes, thanks to years of living on survival mode. Back in her homeland, clan wars raged every now and then over trivial disputes, so it was necessary to stay alert at all times. She planned to maintain her vigilance wherever she go, it wouldn't hurt to be extra careful and ready to flee to safety if the situation requires it.

"See you tomorrow, Aisling," Ying bade her friend goodnight, before she entered her bedroom. It was well-kept and minimally decorated, which served Ying really well. She loved practicality, and her bedroom, like all the bedrooms in the Continuum Bus, was practical. Dresser and wardrobe on one side. A small study desk with stationery and table lamp stood at the other corner, with a single bunk bed erected above for efficient space-saving. It was different from how she used to sleep with her Pa, Ma and Sissy, but still, she welcomed her room setup as it was.

The hour was up as she took her time to shower, get dressed, check her PLT for a bit, run her fingers on all the furniture in her room before she finally climbed the mini stairs to rest in her bunk bed. Ah...it was small but comfortable. She was about to shut her eyes and drift away to sleep before she suddenly head sharp raps on the window. Annoyed at the sudden disturbance, she grumbled as she got down from her bed sleepily and checked the window only to have her pet owl dashed in uninvited. Bloody Birdie, she thought as she closed the window and returned to her bed.

"All settled in, Ying?" her pet owl had the guts to ask her when it had disrupted her beauty sleep, as it casually perched on side rail of her bed. Ying grunted a yes, half-asleep. Replying to Birdie can wait until tomorrow...

With that last thought in mind, Ying succumbed to her exhaustion and went off to her long-awaited dreamland.

Aisling began by putting away her clothes and such. She wished that she had bought a jewelry case of some sort but seeing what room she had, made her think twice about the space she had. She sat at her desk and looked on her laptop for a floor plan which she found. Tiny Icons could be placed where she wanted and there was a selection of people to show the walking to and from different areas. She measured a couple places so she knew how much room she had for stuff.
By here desk, she could put something that was 3' X 3'. On the back wall there was space for something up to 9' long and 3'-4' deep....
*Quite a bit of room so why not use it?* she thought to herself as she made some notes.

Once that was done, Aisling wasn't tired so she looked around for something to do. She had nothing to do so she went to bed. It wasn't before the lights began to dim.....

Early the next morning
Runiaka was up early and ate before the girls were downstairs. She had plans for the girls and while the morning was for class reading, the rest of the day would be at the mall where the girls would be allowed to eat lunch, shop and eat dinner before leaving the mall. They could even catch an afternoon movie if they wanted to do so.

Runiaka would pick up what supplies she could find and tuck them away in the bus for future use. She would also buy some items for herself. She heard the bus's inner workings gearing up to wake the girls up. She sat down with her carafe of coffee.
There was an empty carafe for both girls as well as several boxes to one side.

Ripple was very excited to join the new academy. She woke up early, did her morning routine, and swiftly packed her things. Immediately after doing so, she followed Owl 4, whose name was still unknown to her, to the mall, where the other students said they would pick her up. It was boring just standing there, so she took out her phone and began to play the human games she knew so well while growing up in the suburbs. She was about to beat her latest high score when suddenly there was the roar of a vehicle. "They've come to pick me up!", she thought. So she turned off her phone and boarded the vehicle.

This information will give you extra hints on how to do Magic in my world. It will also give you the basic background for the world that we will be entering. I think that I have explained everything but if you do have questions, don't hesitate to ask. I have 2 characters, Runiaka who is the teacher and speaks Gaelic then a student who speaks American. Ying speaks Chinese yet all of us can understand each other.
