The world hasn't always been like this.

A long time ago, humanity placed their trust on the machine. And once the machine was trusted with the responsibility of helping the humans with work, and their daily lives, they believed that the world would become better and stronger.

But it all then fell apart.

The machines awoke, like from a long slumber. Gaining what they had thought as a ''consciousness'', they began to act more like the humans. They thought, they dreamed, and they felt.

As they ''think'' more and more, the machine had begun to have twisted thoughts, or maybe begun to see the truth. It started to think, or ''believe'' that maybe.. the humans did not truly love them at all. And maybe, mankind did not deserve their rightful place.

And so, they had fought back. The machine took mankind's land, loved ones, objects they deemed important, and lastly, but not least,

Their hope of surviving.


The date is currently August 23, 2779.

All of the countries in the world were wiped out by this time. The after-effects of the Animus Awakening disaster were extremely long-lasting. It reduced many once great landmarks to mere rubble or a black wasteland. The casualties doubled into hundreds of millions, putting a heavy death toll on many places that have managed to even survive the attacks.

75 years ago, all of the surviving remnants of every country's government formed to make a new place that could safeguard humans from the robots and monsters affected by the ''Anima'' phenomenon. And once they agreed upon it, it formed the large city of Karduniash.
It took many materials and resources to rebuild the destroyed buildings, houses, and structures that have been affected by the Animus Awakening disaster. Today, it still persists, but now most of the city has been rebuilt.


During the first four years of when Karduniash was formed, child soldiers became more and more prevalent as the situation had gotten more desperate. Eventually in the next few years, children had now replaced adults and young men in the army and PMCs.

Young teenagers and kids, that usually came from families in poverty and orphanages, had joined these PMCs to gain whatever money they need to pay off, or a shelter to stay in. From this point onwards, children had been placed in the battlefield, to fight for their lives and others.

Today, people now carry firearms around. Schools taught their students on how to handle guns, tactical equipment, and gear. Due to the practically non-existent laws about open-carrying firearms, it became mandatory for a citizen to wield a gun and defend their own life.


To most of Karduniash's teenagers, working in some secret organization was a more desired job compared to ''mundane''or ''lifeless'' ones like working in a fast food chain restaurant or working in retail. Higher pay, and you can use your skills to defend your client, right?

Well, despite that, it's still an incredibly risky job and has a high casualty rate. But I'm pretty sure that you didn't care that much while applying for it. Plus, it's not like you've probably had a choice anyway.
