And your people haven’t discovered some way to stop it in the intervening years?

Stopping it as in rendering it inoperable? Sure, that was done. The issue is there was never a concern for the creator to return from the dead and reclaim it.

Mm. And no means to remotely disable the system or track it, regardless of who chose to reactivate it?

There are worse fates than death. She's going to have to work through whatever it is that she just saw, and we do not want to be on the other side of that.

Well that is some newfound side of you ain't it man? *I grin at your reaction, then i turn to the conversation between Gemini and Misty surprised*

So is this another one of your 'poppin' out of the void like it's nobody's business' type friends that is seemingly talking with Misty?

It was also never expected to be uprooted and moved so readily. No, nothing of the sort. We can call it a combination of circumstances we thought impossible.

*Cautiously shifts glances between the various entities in the room*
That’s Gemini, the man responsible for the way Misty is now. He’s normally dead, but... well, he’s more dangerous than she is. We’ll leave it at that.

I see. A worst-case scenario, then?

*I stand crosseyed due to brain contorting confusion at the revelation 'normally dead'* Normally 'dead' huh... so does she have some Jesus juice flowing through her veins now? WATCH OUT!

*I shout as a brute is charging for you, and i immediately punch it's face revealing a lesser level of my powers as i punch it so hard i literally turn it inside out then it bursts into blazing fire shortly before turning to a small pile of ash*

RIGHT WHO'SE NEXT YOU FUCKERS?!

A scenario so unfortunate that even preparations for the worst didn't foresee it count as great candidates for being called "worst case", I have to say.

Misty’s world is not so black and white. And the closer we get, the more her world is our world.

What other countermeasures did they prepare?

We have the means to know when it might be used, due to the amount of energy it would need to generate to do what it does. A swift reactionary measure is all but inevitable.

I don’t think he “thinks” like we do. I also have no plans to go and ask.

And do you all have the means to respond in such a circumstance?

Responding to unaccounted for elemental anomalies is one of the primary jobs in the industry, you might say. I know you have some experience with that; the initial excursion to Garsun's Tower was one such mission.

See... you say that, which concerns me... *I casually punch and invert another brute as we talk, and for a short while they even seem afraid and start backtracking in doubt at how brutal we are* Is he even on our side? or is he going to kill everyone here?

Are they prepared for an entity of Garsun’s caliber, who also knows he will be hunted once discovered?

They're prepared. Garsun is a disgraced doyen from an era long past, but even if it turns out that his era was more capable than ours, he's only one master against many. If we're not ready for that, we were never going to be ready for it.

And if he activates the tower remotely?

Then he won't be there to defend it when the cavalry arrives. Besides, the tower needs an operator. In terms of functionality, it has to have an operator like a pilot in the cockpit of a plane. I suppose he could always change that, but I don't see why he would do that.
