Hello Everyone!
I have a real itch to play a character I came up with eons ago. I'm hoping that you can help me with this.
In a world similar to that of the X-Men (It's not based off of it, just similar to it. I wasn't into comics when I came up with this and now that I am the parallels amuse me) it is possible for humans to be born with abilities that are beyond the natural. Most people in these situations do their best to live as normal a life as they can with their powers. People with physical manifestations of power are usually easier to spot. Super strength can be hard to hide sometimes and takes a lot of effort to control. People with powers such as telekinesis are a little harder to spot. As with any group that is different, people who consider themselves normal aren't always the most welcoming of people with powers.
So in this instance I would be playing a character who goes by the name Stranger. Stranger is telepathic, which he mainly uses defensively. He is incredibly shy around people. He's quite powerful, as telepaths go because from a very young age he has been using his power almost constantly to hide himself from an abusive family situation. The gist of what he does is that he can make you smell, feel, taste, see, hear anything he wants you to. His favourite trick, the one he's always using, is to make himself "invisible". He's not actually invisible, he's still very much physically present but he essentially convinces other people's brains that they can't see him even though their eyes are physically taking in the fact that he is there, he is preventing the brain from processing that information. He can also read minds and communicate telepathically. He cannot force anyone to do anything! He has no control over someone's will. And if someone has a strong enough will then they can push through his illusions. They will still be seeing what he wants them to, but they will be aware of the actual environment that they are in. With regards to reading minds, he can ignore what other people are thinking but he can't turn it off.
The base that I'd like to start with is that Stranger (you'll get to know his real name later!) has joined a group of superhero vigilantes in an attempt to fit in somewhere. He doesn't feel that he belongs most places. Even among other supers having someone be in your head all the time is not a welcome ability. But some will grudgingly admit that it is useful.
I'm very much in favour of collaborative worldbuilding so the role that your character plays is up to you. The ideas that I've had regarding that are either a villain who takes interest in him for his powers and convinces him to switch sides, or a newbie hero to the vigilante group who befriends him.
This is a romance plot so please bear that in mind. I would prefer M/M but I'm not going to say no if you'd prefer a different gender. And I'd love love love to hear your ideas!
I look forward to hearing from you!
