It's a modified Lesser Gate spell, and can connect our magic back to the entrance by using the circle as a permanent anchor. Lily can give you all the little details of how it works if you're interested.

You have your normal Lesser Gate spell, which works exactly how you think it will. But we want it to both continuous cast and remote cast, so we add a few extras to the design and layout—

This would use up a ton of magic to keep going. Of which, Gio has none.
