Well not necessarily allies, but Khaydah tends to try to be on friendly terms with everyone around them. Since they are sort of a trade node for the continent.

Well, that was just the ruler's Uncle. He's something of a zealot, really. Even if he hides his actual religious beliefs from the public.

And Corin, have we RPed before? Your name looks familiar.

And that's awesome Corin, I knew I remembered you from somewhere. :D

And, just curious, is anyone going to head through Khaydah in order to reach Stomia's little festival?

If I may, I beg to differ. I don't believe I would need your goods as much as you think since my people literally live inside mountains and are expert miners/forgers/blacksmiths. I may occasionally have need for more materials (i.e. during war), yet during peace times, it would not be necessary.

Apologies for the delay. My claim (until I've hammered it out with gowia) is still pretty much the same. I'm also collaborating a history with Faulty, as our factions would have had very heavy influence on each other over the course of many years.

I should have my app up within a couple of days. Unfortunately, I've been very busy with work lately and have not had a lot of time outside of sleep to rectify that situation.

Nation Name: Anika

Flag:

Region/color on map: Avelcas

Capital: Tisivilsk

Capital Population: 50,000

Other Major Settlements: N/A

Population: 2,000,000

Racial demographics: A vast majority of human, with very little acceptance shown toward the ‘lesser’ races. Both the men and the women a generally shorter, their tallest being barely over six feet, while it is not uncommon for most ladies, especially of high birth, to barely reach five feet. Blonde-haired, and Blued eyed, they’re near as pale as the snowy island they inhabit, and their queer accents when speaking common tongue mark them almost instantly to most as Aniche. ( As in, from ‘Anika’, as someone from Britain is British, someone from Anika, is Aniche)
Social dynamics: A tiered social gap separates every man from the man above him, beginning at the top with the monarchy, and at the bottom, the peasant and serf. Slavery is illegal, but still exists to some extent. Woman hold a far more liberal position in society, though are still beholden to men. A fierce sense of nationalism fires up most of the hearts of the people, all with very similar traits that mark them as Aniche, the daintiness, lack of variety as far as hair, skin, and eye color, and binding language.

Fashion: People dress warmly, in furs, and swathed in colorful robes. In the summertime, it’s not uncommon for woman to expose up to their knees, but in the winter, most cloth themselves to the chin, with cloaks and coats and gloves, all to protect themselves from the biting cold. Jewelry is a social norm of the nobility, woman drip with earrings and necklaces, while men decorate their weapons more so than their bodies.

Calendar:

Nachinat or Nachin: The beginning of the harvest.
Zhatva: The Reaping.
Sereboro Luna: The Silver moon, a few weeks near the end of winter when the moon seems closer, and shines brighter. It is seen as their only Goddesses rebirth, as she delivers them from the nine months of winter.

Art: Art consists mostly of music within Anika, string instruments being a sign of wealth, and most noble children can play at least one song well upon the pale-coloreds instruments.

Law: The Monarchy holds a tier system of officials to handle the law, called the Inquisition, at the pinnacle being the Czar himself, but only issues of extreme treachery are ever brought before him. The Inquisition is known to use obscure methods of torture, and their loyalty is only beholden to the crown. Still, they are known to be quite corrupt, taking bribes, and in the cities, much of the thuggery is taken up by the very institution put it place to protect the people from such. Minister Dimka Svetlana serves himself more so than the people, and packs the prisons tight with men, women, and children without so much as a trial.

Education: For each major city, there is a college, but only the wealthy and the high born are able to attend. With no formal education system, families rely on private tutors, and the poor go without education for the most part.
Type of Government: Monarchy

Influence and relations: Extraordinarily isolated, but not in a hostile fashion.

Important People:

The Imperial line of Motova:

Czar Alik, Twenty years of age.
Czarina Innya, Seventeen years of age.

Princess Nakitta, Sixteen years of age.
Prince Kirill, Eleven years of age
Prince Pyotr, Eleven years of age.
Princess Dima, Five years of age.

Military:

Lord Admiral Maxim Bure, Thirty-eight years of age.
Lord Marshal Daviski Kargin, Twenty-seven years of age.

Law:

The Minister of the Inquisition Dimka Svetlana, Forty-four years of age.
Trading and tax: As their reliance upon trade is high, they carry a rather lax tariff to attract other nations to trade with them, and taxes are collected from the different Lords of Anika twice a year, at the end of the harvest, and winter’s end.

Major industries: Mining, Fishing, Ship-Building, and Textiles. They are renowned for their ships, both fast, and maneuverable.

Major Associations: None, as of now.

Currency: They rely on a silver standard as there is little gold, but their mountains are filled with silver veins, as well as precious stones, much still left undiscovered and untouched.
Military -

Consisting of 10,000 men, and 300 women, acting nurses and other non-combative roles.

Wartime Navy:
- 7,000 men strong.
- 20 war ships (Carrack), each large enough to be manned by over a hundred men; ~2,200
- 48 large caravel, each crewed by forty men; ~2,120
- 100 small caravel, each crewed by twenty men; ~ 2,000
- About 700 men serve roles within the port cities, or upon obscure or insignificant model ships.

Peacetime Navy:

- 2,000 men strong.

Wartime Army:
- 3,000 men strong.
- 1,900 infantry.
- 600 archer.
- 400 cavalry.
- 100 cannoneer.

Peacetime Army:

- 2,000 men strong.

Noble Houses hold their own garrisons, and upon request, they will be called upon to join the Imperial Army and Fleet. This expands the nations total ranks to near 20,000.
Landscape: Rocky and bare on the coasts, it’s not until several miles away from the ever-surrounding sea do the forests begin to pull themselves out of ground. Most of the trees are tall, and white wooded, and through the long winters, they hold onto their crimson leaves. Two-thirds of the year, the island is blanketed in a layer of snow, but in the few briefs months of summer, tall, pale green grasses cover the grounds, and give the country and forests an enchanting air. Hundreds of icy-blue streams carve their way through the rough ground, running from the central mountains, and into the sea.

Wildlife: Not dissimilar to the wildlife of North-Eastern Europe. Faeries exist in their forests, fleshy creatures, with nothing particularly exciting about them besides their thin, wasp-like wings, and ability to learn the tongue of man. Despite that, they are still considered hive-minded beasts, and some are kept by the wealthy as pets.

Notable places: The Forest of Nyr. It’s fabled to be ‘magical’, and the birthplace of their Goddess. Every Sereboro Luna, countless men and woman venture into the forests, and up the mountain, Nyr, that overlooks the blood-red leaves. This is where many faeries live, though it is seen as a sacrilege to touch or harm the creatures throughout this time of the year, many are captured still, and sold on the public markets along with the mutts.
Summary: A Russian-Monarchy based country, sorta’! Their old Czar just died, and now they’ve a new one with new ambitions, but a weakened hold on the crown making him an appropriate target for attack from internal treachery, or war.

History: Anika, for the last hundred years, as remained at relative peace. Never in it’s history as Anika invaded another country, nor, has another country invaded it. However, at the assassination of Czar Nikoli VI, three generations of civil war broke out, noble houses fighting over his corpse like wolves, and in the end, the house Motova, lead by Harok I rose the victor. Since then, every Czar or Czarina prior has claimed that blood, though a few of the eldest noble houses still claim the throne to be rightfully there’s.

In the not so distant past, Anika and Kjalmar held a tight bond, both nations sharing similar vernacular and strong navies. From that, alliances grew, but with time faded, though compared to most nations, Anika holds a rather positive view of Khalmar, it's pirates rarely raiding the countries coasts.

However, the Monarchy is too strong to be toppled by such opposition, and when Czar Harok XII was taken by a sudden fever, his eldest son, Alik, ascended to the throne at a raw twenty years of age.

Now Alik leads, along with his pregnant wife Innya. Ambitious, he wishes to expand the narrow view his father held, and look out unto the world, and have the world look upon Anika, and marvel upon it. Those are his dreams, and he is willing to give close to anything to obtain them.

Strengths: They have an astonishingly powerful navy, given their island-status. The early development of caravel ships has put them in a lofty position as far as long-term travel goes, the reversal of the sails allowing them to continue even with the winds against them, and no longer need to use the man-power oars of the galley. This benefits their trade, as well as the overall wealth of the nation. There is a heightened sense of nationality due to their common language and religion unshared with any other part of the world. The same line of monarchy as reigned for over two hundred years, resilient against internal rebellion, and external strife.

Weaknesses: Anika’s current Czar is still young, inexperienced, and without heir. In desperate need of allies, the country is making an transition with this fiery-eyed leader to a more aggressive foreign policy. Their military is weak, and their population is far from supple enough to feed a large standing army. As well, the Lord Marshal and Lord Admiral do not get along well, but both of the men’s roles to Czar Alik allows for him to oversee their obvious shortcomings. The country relies almost entirely upon foreign trade for their agriculture, as much of their land is infertile, and their growing season too short to last through their winters. Veins of corruption run all throughout the nobility and Inquisition.

Nation Name: The Forge-Cities of Fornax

Flag:

Region/color on map: Tasogare

Capital: Fornax

Capital Population: 43, 476

Other Major Settlements: Varkul, Malkaz, Helmzeir, Jorvund, Randunachz, and Kelzeir

Population: 239, 896

Racial demographics (Discounting visitors): 97% Fire Trolls, 3% Other

Social dynamics: The Fire Trolls are a peaceful race and rarely seek violence with outsiders. The Fire Trolls respect craftsmanship and revere members of their society who can manufacture unique metalwork. However they dislike theft and plagiarism greatly and are willing to accept contracts from outsiders. The Fire Trolls take pride in their work and if they are tasked with making something (especially if they get something in return) they will create it in the best way possible no matter the cost.
Fire Trolls are known to be divided into the following classes:
Builders: The Builders help maintain the impressive architecture seen within Fire Troll cities and expand as needed. (20% of Population)
Metalsmiths: These Fire Trolls produce the legendary metal-works that the Fire Trolls are known for. (30% of Population)
Extractors: The Extractors are responsible for creating the volcanic metal alloys used for Fire Troll metal-working (20% of Population)
Inventers: Inventers create new and innovative ways of working with the common obsidian-iron alloy that Fire Trolls use to create their metal-works. They also may have Metalsmiths work for them to create more organized products. (20% of Population)
Peacekeepers: As their name would suggest. The Peacekeepers act as a military police for Tasogare and keep the Fire Trolls safe from threats (Be them internal or external) (10% of Population)

Fashion: Fire Trolls commonly use custom made armors for clothing. The armor is a testament of the individuality of the Fire Troll.

Calendar: May 2nd is Sorvenjund Remembrance Day in which the remembrance of the cataclysmic explosion of the volcano Sorvenjund is ensued.
August 9th is the annual celebration of the Fire God Enze, a unique flora is added to the volcanic forges of Tasogare on this day that change the smoke produced by the volcanic mountains to a crimson red.
November 12th is celebrated every five years as a selection ceremony for a governmental leader. The ceremony tests the potential candidates in a “forge-off” to see who can make the most impressive metal work. The festivities last until November 24th and the leader is put into service.

Art: Most of Fire Troll art comes from the exquisite arches and buildings made from the unique volcanic alloys found on Tasogare along with various weapons and armors.

Law: Law amongst the Fire Trolls is simple: If you cause problems you are exiled or executed (Depending on the severity of the crime) unless the treachery is a part of an extremely economical commission from a foreign power.
Example: If an Inventor works one of their Metalworkers to death they would be given a choice of exile or death. Unless if the Inventor has been commissioned to make a large order of goods for a vast sum of money.

Education: Fire Trolls do not take priority in education as much as other nations. Fire Trolls are taught how to survive within their own culture (i.e. metal-casting, extracting, processing, etc.) along with reading and writing, however they are not taught as thoroughly as some of Tasogare’s neighbors.

Type of Government: Marshal Law with publically selected leader.

Influence and relations: The High Elves of Aethinia are a popular commissioner of Fire Troll metal-work and have grown into allies, The Hold of Grimmanar are a greatly respected ally of the Fire Trolls (as both nations create masterful works with metals.)

Important People: Chief-Commandant Forze Grenveer is the current military leader in charge of the Forge-Cities of Fornax. He is known to be fair and collected for the majority of his command but is not afraid to lay down a fist to dangers in Fire troll society be it domestic or otherwise.

Trading and tax:
Tax: The Forge-Cities of Fornax rarely set taxes on their goods as the Fire Trolls are almost entirely self-sufficient and because their handiwork is so unique they rarely need to over well their products.
Trade: If a trade is to be made internationally the other nation must submit a commission to the Inventor from any of the seven Fire Troll Forge-Cities of their choosing. Once a price is agreed upon (Any sort of payment will be taken but the more valuable it is, the better the quality of the end-product) the Inventor will then task his/her workers for the immediate production of the commission; as soon as the product is finished the trade will ensue.

Major industries: Mining, Processing, Metalwork, Crafting, and Architecture

Major Associations: Each Forge cities’ Peacekeeper Garrison (responsible for the safety of each assigned volcano), Fornax House of Trade and Commerce (responsible for international trade and internal distribution of resources), and the Murveer Mining Division (the largest mining company in Fire Troll territory; mass producers of iron-obsidian alloys.)

Currency: The Fire Trolls use basic forms of trade within the Forge-Cities and have no true currency. In regards to foreign trade: Mostly raw metals, minerals, and coins (The Forge-Cities of Fornax do not accept note based currency)

Military: As the Forge-Cities of Fornax are led by Marshal Law each Forge-City (Volcano) has their own Peacekeeper Garrison. These garrisons maintain order in each Forge-City and the commanding officer serves as mayor. All Peacekeepers are led by the, publically selected, military general in the volcano Fornax.
Totals of Peacekeepers per Forge-City:
Fornax: 7,347
Varkul: 4,453
Malkaz: 4,238
Helmzeir: 3,975
Jorvund: 4,512
Randunachz: 3, 986
Kelzeir: 4,227

Landscape: The landscape of Tasogare can be divided into three regions. (All of which are volcanic and hazardous to extended exploration.)
Forveer Mountains: The entire western coast of Tasogare is dotted with mighty volcanic mountains. Seven of which have been made into Forge-Cities where the Fire Troll population lives. Besides adding a scenic view the Forveer Mountains are a maze of treacherous cliffs and lava-spewing rifts which Fire Trolls use as a natural defense against invaders.
Durnveer Fissures: The north-east half of Tasogare is ravaged by countless fissures, ravines, and pitfalls that makes this region of Tasogare uninhabitable. The only life that thrives in or around these fissures (the ones that don’t eject lava that is) are giant serpent-like animals that are extremely dangerous and carnivorous.
Talveer Mesas: Occupying the south-east corner of Tasogare are the impressive basalt mesas. These wondrous rock formations provide natural beauty and natural defense for the Fire Trolls cities to the west.

Wildlife:
Forveer: Little or no impressionable animals live atop the volcanic Forveer Mountains. However several unique species of flora grow from the volcanic soil around the mountains that provides a substantial amount of food for the local Fire Trolls.
Durnveer: Other than sparse species of cacti the only life living in the Durnveer Fissures are the feared Ran’Turi. The Ran’Turi are a species of giant worm-like serpents that make their nests deep within the fissures in this region. The Fire Trolls fear these massive creatures and advise any/all visitors to avoid this area of Tasogare.
Talveer: No interesting plant life thrives amongst the Talveer Mesas but large herbivore basilisks consume them as a food source.

Notable places: The ruins of Sorvenjund are a hotspot of activity for the local populous. Memorials and funerals are commonly held near this area of Tasogare.
The, now extinct, volcano known as Moya is a widely known vacation spot; years after the last lava poured from the mountain, the main vent collapsed inward and turned the entire volcano into one large crater. Water has found its way into the depression and has created a massive hot spring that’s steam can be seen for miles. Hundreds of Fire Trolls and other visitors use the hot springs for relaxation today.

Summary: In all, Tasogare is a hellish badlands ejecting molten rock from any available crevice yet somehow life has managed to force its way into this region and now calls it home.

History: Foreign scholars believe that there was once a natural land-bridge connecting Tasogare to the nearby Xai that allowed the ancient Fire Trolls to settle the region.

Strengths: Dangerous volcanic environments provide natural defense and dissuade enemy invasion.

Weaknesses: The landscape makes life in this region shorter on average. Impassible mountain ranges and hostile animals make further settling almost impossible.

Name: Fire Troll (Veer <Troll word for Fire> - Traule <Troll word for Troll/People>)

Classification: Sentient

Appearance: Hulking humanoid-beasts standing on average at 6-7ft (around 2 meters), sharing a common jet-black skin tone and a rough complexion (Commonly seen wearing custom-made armor pieces). A pair of small tusks are visible amongst razor sharp teeth and a small mane occupies the back of each Fire Troll’s head.
Shared traits: Fire Trolls have evolved to have a small amount of resistance to fire/heat.
Natural abilities: Fire Trolls have a vast knowledge of metalworking and blacksmithing. Some are also masterful architects and traders.

Lifespan: 40-50 years

Relations with other races: Fire Trolls are friendly to races that wish to commission them for their metalwork as well as visitors. Fire Trolls prefer to remain passive in world affairs.

History: Some say that the Fire Trolls used to be tribal and aggressive, like their more primitive cousins, but after years of seclusion and metalworking the once savage species of Troll evolved into the modern day Fire Troll. Scholars have asked the Fire Trolls if this this was accurate but only received annoyed grunts and responses such as: “No comment.” No further study on this subject has developed.

Languages: Common (English or whatever) and Traulevish

Religious beliefs: The Fire Trolls revere their Got of Fire Enze. He is said to be “the bringer of everlasting flame” and the source of the fuel for Fire Troll forges.
Preferred occupations: Blacksmiths, Miners, and Architects

Famous people: Tazo Skowerveer: Famous for his masterful works with Fire Troll and Dwarven metals. He was commissioned by a dwarf-king to make a set of royal armor; the armor was made of standard iron-obsidian alloy (commonly used by Fire Trolls) but was uniquely processed with liquefied diamonds and sapphire to add an awe inspiring shine. The success of this commission went so well that it started a lasting alliance between the Forge-Cities of Fornax and the Hold of Grimmanar.
Commandant Varley Forzo: The famous military commander-in-chief in charge of Forge-City Sorvenjund. When the cataclysmic explosion of Sorvenjund’s forges occurred, Forzo led a massive evacuation of the lower city at the cost of his own life. Thousands of Fire Trolls were saved by his sacrifice.

Strengths: Naturally strong and born with a resistance to fire, adept at crafting with metals and proficient at creating weapons and armors quickly.

Weaknesses: As Fire Trolls are mostly passive in international affairs they have a military force mostly made for policing. Fire Trolls dislike the cold and tend to feel uncomfortable in even moderate climates.

Um, I like the sheet overall but I don't think it's possible to have an iron-obsidian alloy. Obsidian's not a metal, and you don't forge obsidian. And I don't think it's possible to melt diamonds and sapphires with medieval-era technology.

Carbon in diamond form has a melting point of 3550 C (6422 F) and a boiling point of 4827 C (8720.6 F). Its freezing point is the same as its melting point -- higher than this and it is a liquid, lower than this and it is a solid. Diamonds at room temperature are 'frozen'.

In other words, it's impossible to melt diamonds with medieval technology. Hell, it's hard (if not close to impossible) even with MODERN technology to melt them.

Also, obsidian is glass. I personally wouldn't want to alloy ANYTHING with such a substance, as it would make it more brittle.

I think that maybe the rulers would get along well, but the current King is very proud of his people and probably wouldn't accept outside metals unless there was a dire need for it. I see your point though.

Nation Name: The Ralgon Empire

Region: Valeria (all of the purple islands between Gaia and Aethia), as well as others within their borders. This excludes the island inhabited by The Deauxerran League.

Capital: The Imperial City of Dragonstone
Capital Population: 430,000 (Includes metropolitan areas)

New Year's (at the beginning of the year)
The Spring Equinox (celebrated somewhat like Easter)
The Autumn Equinox (celebrated very much like Mardi Gras)

@Mista Slaya, hey I was just reading over the posts and yours mentions a deal between the Doge and one of your previous rulers. What deal is that? I only sent the letter out to people who follow Haloism since I wasn't 100% sure who does and so it's fine for you to receive one however you can't make up deals that I have no idea about since you are basically telling me something I have to agree too. Not trying to be rude, and if I appear to be I apologize, but please consult me on deals you want between us.

Well, I like the two new, completed NS's. Accepted.

As for the Ralgon Empire, it looks good so far. Keep at it. Especially like the Welsh Dragon in the United Kingdom flag.
Actually, I always wondered why Wales wasn't represented in the Union Flag. Something to do with the Treaty of the Crowns, apparently.
