We live in the realm of Ashnator, a world not completely unlike ours, geographically. It's lands are green with grass and it's ocean's are blue. The growth of species is different than that of Earth's for a very simple reason. There is no salt water, and the incredible amount of water on the planet have allowed uncountable variety of species in the natural kingdom. Man's existed on the realm for a very long time, mankind's most certainly one of the oldest species in the world.
The first human kingdom, known as the kingdom of Ash named after the ash that revitalized the land after a gigantic forest fire. The three brothers that ruled the kingdom were warriors, the strongest, in fact. They protected their kingdom against all forms of evil. Dragons, Goblins, Beasts, Demons and the list goes on and on. They were the first three who understood the key to human strength in the world. The power, and importance of a soul, the spirit, in fact, the very essence of human life was what made man superior to other species in the land.
The youngest brother wanted to use the power of the soul to empower the nature, to go backwards in time, to have mankind step back, and let mother nature run rampart. The oldest brother, wanted to do the opposite, he wanted to enslave nature, the animals, and make all other species bow before the might of mankind.
The middle brother, was caught in the middle, for as the years passed, the conflict escalated. The two brothers made their own armies, splitting the kingdom in three parts, the two clashing for years. The middle brother knew that there was no good that could come from the fighting, and it burdened him, for both of his brothers wanted him to stand by their side, to defeat the other.
The middle brother had enough. Splitting his kingdom, and giving it to his siblings, he went into exile. Deep into the caves of the world. In the caves, wandering for many years, harnessing the powers of his soul, he grew powerful. He was oblivious to the war of the outside, between his loved brothers whom now, because of years of bloodshed and tragedy had forgotten all about him, and all about the time when the three ruled together, like a family.
The man found his way to a cave inside a volcano. Where he found the shimmering metal, flowing, like it'd be blood in veins. He found Bronze, naturally created from the copper veins in the caves, and combined with other ore thanks to the heat of the volcano. He began to craft the bronze over the course of years. Finding that unlike other materials, the bronze had a natural ability to channel the power of one's spirit. The man saw the possibilities in this, Bronze could be used to stop his brothers from fighting. He didn't have to shed anymore blood. He could unite the kingdom once again.
He crafted a full suit of armor, and weapon for himself, before he headed back into the outside world. Hopeful. But his hopes were crushed as he arrived back home in the kingdom of ash. Seeing nothing but death and despair. His brothers had long since killed each other, their armies were destroyed, and mankind was shattered, without hope.
But with the reapperance of the brother, they would constitute a new kindom. A better one. Where people would live with nature, as it's kind masters. He taught the way of the bronze to the people, and they began rebuilding. The city of Bardum was built, and soon the excellence of the city of bronze spread all throughout the land, creating the kingdom of Amuldor, where science and magic would lead the world into a more modern age.

Bronze is, despite the fact that it's what the entire city walls are made off, a rather rare material. You'll rarely find a warrior who owns a full armory of bronze. Bronze is nigh-indestructible, being able to pierce the hide of a dragon when in the hands of a powerful wielder. Most warriors outside of the brigade don't own a weapon of bronze, but more commonly simply an artifact. A ring, or an amulet that they use to amplify their spirit in combat.
The brigade was formed 56 years ago, by the current regent. King Jachiro The Fourth. Jachiro was a warrior, claimed to be the greatest one of the kings since the first king of the ancient tales. Jachiro waged war on the dragons of the world, as the dragons was spreading terror and destruction. He needed a band of warriors not afraid of anything.
And so was the Bronze Brigade formed, as a dragon hunting unit, given their name due to the fact that they all had to be armed with full bronze, as Bronze was the only material strong enough to both withstand the power of a dragon, but also pierce it's hide.
The Brigade was successful in defending against the dragons, pushing them back into the far corners of the world, were the vile creatures would hide away. But the kingdom of Ashnator wasn't safe yet. More evils lurked, so the king decided that the Brigade would become something more than Dragon Slayers. They were to become a regiment, the very elite of the army, an ideal that all men and women in the kingdom would look up to, and hail as heroes.
And that's exactly how it's been since then. The members of the Brigade have been the stars of the City Of Bronze ever since. Followed, Idolized, and sometimes even worshiped. Passing on their knowledge from generation to generation.
The Brigade is, as you'd imagine, not something you could just walk up to and sign up with. You have to be chosen, and have had opportunity to prove yourself worthy to join the brigade, and due to the very limited amount of cadets that are accepted every generation, there's very strong competition between the aspiring cadets. It isn't unheard of grudges being held by those that didn't get accepted.
The Brigade looks for more than just raw martial talent, though. As such, there's been people known to get accepted without being the very elite warriors, but having other abilities that puts them apart from the rest.
No more freaking rogues, like dayum yo. Come on folks.
