The issue with the shoulder-mounted ballista is that it has no counterpart to a real-world weapon (at least, none that I know of). Logically (and on a technical level), such a weapon could work, but once we have someone with what amounts to an ancient rocket launcher listed under their military section, what's stopping someone from coming into the roleplay with something larger, more potent and even more advanced than what the RP's setting would realistically contain? I see Haz's rules as a method in which to curb power creep, wankery and powerplaying, which is incredibly common in nation-based roleplays (and rapidly becomes evident when custom-made weapon and armor designs are implemented into the roleplay).

The only weapon that I know of that could fit with what you have in mind is the cheiroballistra, a light siege engine superior to the Roman scorpio. There is speculation that portable versions may have existed, but the weapon was relatively easy to operate by a small collection of men.

Understood, so, to summarise the needed changes are the replacement of the shoulder mounted Ballista esque weapon with a crossbow? I think like I forgot a couple of things..

The capital population is also quite large. One city holding the population of Modern Day Scotland - that won't fly in such a time period, considering you have more people in one city than some of us have in our entire nations.

Plate armor is, as I stated: Only given to the Holy Legion. I'm going to make the Holy Legion a single legion and make the Exiled Legion into 90% of the military population, which: As I stated: use out-dated, worn and shitty weaponry which is too shitty to be worn by the Holy Legion.

Aright, fixing the shoulder weapon, tiding up the nation size and population distrubution.

While there are early predecessors such as the Roman-era lorica segmentata, full plate armour developed in Europe during the Late Middle Ages, especially in the context of the Hundred Years' War...

No. No plate armour. That's not pre-500 AD. It's barely even Medieval, more used in the Renaissance era

Depends on the material. Bronze yes, but iron or steel, no.

Yes. Curiasses, hauberks, chestplates... They are all acceptable. But plated armour is not

Iron and steel were available, but Steel is hyper-rare and expensive, and iron isn't as hard. Bronze is good for armour for its strength, but you need tin and copper to forge it. That means either having ores or importing them. It's also rotten as a weapon metal, as it dulls quite quickly.
Iron is far more common, and is good for blades, as it keeps its edge for longer, but weaker as an armour.
Steel is far rarer, and is only really usable for nobles or important figures - even a rich nation would only ever forge about ten. It can also be used in sword edges, which takes up much less of the metal. I'd personally disallow any standard military unit wearing steel armour, but a few steel weapons are acceptable.

Note about steel: Alexander once recieved thirty pounds, or 15 swords' worth, from a rich king and considered it acceptable

Lol, don't need that extreme. Copper armor is near useless.

Bronze is harder but less malleable than copper. It means your copper armour is easier to shape, but not as protective.
Copper armour is quite creative. Well done.
