Occupation:
Mixed Martial Artist, Former Russian Champion and current Prison Champion.
Illegally, hitman for the Russian Mob inside prison.
Personality:
Everything that his brother is, but worse. A hard man, not easy to talk to, not easy to get through to. Incredibly intelligent with a quick-moving mind, and vast intellect, he chose to apply this intellect to the art of fighting. His word is law and iron, he would never give his word unless he means to keep it. Respect is paramount to him, honor less so, but very important anyways.
Due to his very good memory and strong-working mind, he is known for keeping grudges for a very, very long time if he has to. He doesn't get mad, he gets even in as gruesome and fair a manner as possible. He knows that he was framed, but he doesn't blame the mob, as they realized how useless he was in getting back at his brother, and they treated him very well once he started working for them. Or so he claims, anyways. Strong in mind, body and will, not the kind of guy you wanna get on bad terms with, be it in the matters of the mind or body.
History:
Growing up in Russia during the time that he and his brother and Sister did was nothing fun, but they managed it. It was a bit easier, granted, with his father in the military, but once the Berlin wall fell, their father's pay was cut by a matter of half, and their mother was out of a job more often than not. The two brothers took to the streets as a manner of sustaining themselves in an increasingly violent world. When Niko joined the Mob as something of a hitman and bouncer, Alex wanted to join him but, irritatingly enough, Niko said no to the 17-year-old. It stung fiercely at the time for the young man, who did not know that his brother had done it to protect him.
That was when he enrolled in a fighting academy to get back at his brother. He would prove that he was the better man. He showed nerve and resolve, and abounded in heart and natural talent. His trainer urged him to drop out of school and get fighting full time. There was little that he could do with an education round these parts anyways. He made enough money to get by in the many illegal rings in the city, refusing help from both his parents and his brother, abandoning his sister for good, becoming estranged from his family. Eventually, an agent saw him fight and offered him a chance with the pros. He didn't turn it down.
Fighting for three years in the illegal rings, four more in the professionals, something began to show in the young man as he fought his way to the top of the foodchain. A certain... malice, that went beyond the need to win. An enjoyment of the pain that he was inflicting on the other fighters. His trainer was worried, but this was a time when MMA was rife with such characters, and he was popular with the crowds, so a psychological evaluation was out of the question. He barely noticed when his parents died. He didn't even attend the funeral.
Until his brother went missing, the bastard. The Mob didn't know what had happened, and worried that he had been sided with one of their opponents, so the turned to whomever they thought could help them. The younger sister could not be found, but the brother was something of a local celebrity and not hard to find at all. They interrogated him to make sure that he didn't know where his brother was, and as it became clear that he had had little to no contact with the man in the past years, charges of murder and drug were trumped up, and he was locked away, for good it seemed.
During his time in jail, he met a former Spetznatz commando that had been incarcerated as a hitman inside the prisons. The two seemed like kindred spirits in their enjoyment of sheer brutality, and with the commando's convincing, the young man was allowed to work with him. The Commando, already becoming something of an old man, began teaching the young Alex how to use whatever he had around him to deadly effect. His name became known and feared in the prisons of Russia. At his request, the mob funded something of a way to keep the prisoners more in hand, in-prison cage fights became more and more popular in Russia, to a point that some of the lower budget TV stations began broadcasting the fights. One specialist that was brought in to comment on one of Alex's fights went on the record to call him "The Most Complete Fighter in the World."
This comment sent repercussions around the mixed martial arts world, with his videos being uploaded on the internet and watched in mass numbers. People appealed to the major MMA promoters to get this guy out of prison, as, in a documentary about him, it became clear that he was innocent of the murder and drug charges. The UFC put pressure on the Russian government to get them to release this man, which they did with a little help from the mob, who had last heard that his brother was in the US, and they quickly enrolled him in their main card on his debut, a UFC event to be held in Justice City.
