As the Second World War came to a close, the enormity of the Nazi leadership's crimes against humanity could no longer be hidden or ignored. With cold and righteous fury, the nations of the world turned their attention to the men and women who had orchestrated such monstrosities. The survivors of their crimes viewed the trials with silent tears, the hangings with grim satisfaction, and the future with cautious optimism. "Never forget," they said as Tsion was opened.
There were some of these horrific criminals, however, who were indeed forgotten. Whether through luck, charity, or careful planning, these men had escaped capture and retribution and gone into hiding. Living quiet, anonymous lives, these Nazi escapees thought themselves untouchable. The years passed, cities were rebuilt, futures forged. But some scars never heal.
The year is now 1956. You have been invited to London to meet with several others in your line of work: detectives, hitmen, adventurers, spies, soldiers of fortune, bounty hunters. There, two men offer you an extended contract to hunt down these escaped war criminals. Your charge is not to arrest them. Your charge is to kill them, to visit them with retribution.
So, the overall idea for this is a sort of Ian Fleming/ John le Carre feel, that sense of Cold War paranoia mixed with intense action. This is for mature and patient RPers- there is careful detective work and espionage to be done before each assassination can be planned, not to mention the inevitable character building and conflict. My vision is for this RP to span years, maybe even decades. You'll still be hunting Nazis in 1976. Characters will age, die, be replaced.
"Gee, cyclopean one," you may say to me, "that sounds like a lot of fun but I'm not sure I can commit the time to it." I understand completely. I run two businesses and I'm in the process of setting up a third, my leisure times are few and far between. That's the beauty of this one. This RP will be episodic, a series of small vignettes focusing on one hunt or case within the overarching plot. Think like individual episodes of a TV show. My goal is to play out each vignette in one to three weeks real time, with a break in between each. That way, you can do "Paris, October 1958" with us all, then skip "Montevideo, March 1959" so you can focus on moving or finals or whatever might need your attention, then hop right back in for "Lahore, January 1960". This also means new people can join us at any time, all they need do is wait for the start of the next case so as to make their introduction feel a little more natural.
So, does this idea intrigue anyone?
