"the power to restore balance."
Japan was rocked hard by the awesome power of atomic fire. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were turned to mere ashes in a matter of seconds, killing hundreds of thousands. Nine years pass. The cities are hopelessly contaminated, consumed by radiation. Despite the world's fear of nuclear weaponry, the United States continues nuclear testing in the Bikini Atoll Islands. Official press releases state that the United States government was testing the full power of nuclear technology in biomes such as the ocean and to get ahead of the Soviet Union in the following arms race, however a deeper look would reveal something much more sinister. Something hidden beneath the waves so powerful that no man could conceive it. A force of nature awoken by the constant testing from a slumber centuries long. The United States' further nuclear tests were not tests, but an attempt to kill this new threat and many believed they had.
Until October 4th, 1979. Tip, a Category 5 super typhoon, slams the shores of Japan, making landfall in the southern regions. As torrential rain and record winds batter the Japanese coast, causing massive mudslides and killing a later confirmed 99 individuals, many distraught and shaken survivors reported a horrifying scene. They told of a massive creature, far larger than any land-dwelling species of history, wading through the floodwaters. Its skin was that of a crocodile's, a reptile of sorts, and it possessed rows of bony dorsal spines. It followed the storm and caused destruction of its own as the monster's sheer mass made short work of structures. Government officials declared the witnesses "victims of trauma" and to this day only those who saw the beast with their own two eyes believe it still exists. Survivors of the 2004 tsunami which battered the countries of the Indian Ocean and the 2005 Category 5 Hurricane Katrina report similar sightings. The governments of the affected regions continue to deny these claims.
Hello! As you can gather from the title and the information above, this RP is focused on Godzilla. With the upcoming movie and my longing for a long-term and quality RP this was bound to happen. I have been a Godzilla fan since I was a little kid and this upcoming movie seems to the be the perfect tone for the big guy and seems to provide a refreshing new idea for the creature's motives. He is a force of nature, a "warrior" sent to restore the balance of the world after mankind's follies.
That's how this RP shall interpret him. He comes along with these massive natural disasters to put humanity in its place and show it just how powerless it can be. I would definitely expect a sort of "doom and gloom" RP here. I'm considering a "vacation gone wrong" scenario where our characters are two friends (or a group of friends if you don't mind doubling up) who vacation to X-location where Godzilla makes landfall. We can talk more, those of you who are interested.
With that in mind, here are just some basic things about me and about RPs for me that I feel you should know:
- Post length tends to vary for me and the post length required for certain situations in RPs I feel varies as well. Scenes meant to be descriptive should have some detail, but I feel dialogue may not always warrant two paragraphs worth of information. If, during dialogue, your character has important inner thoughts, then they should be expressed and detailed. That being said, I'm not going to require any kind of post length because, as I said, post length is circumstantial. However constant one-liners and the like I'm not a huge fan of, there has to be inner thoughts and character action at some point or else we're just having a chat log and that's not what we're 100% here for.
- I don't write sex. Violence, cussing, drugs, smoking, etc. I don't mind. However I don't feel it necessary to write out sex, especially in a story like the one I'm hoping to do here. We can imply it, but I just simply won't. I'm here for character development and story. Now, that's not saying romance and relationships are out. Relationships can make survival situation RPs interesting, however I certainly won't require one. Even close friendships can make these sorts of RPs more emotional and gripping.
- I ask that if you show interest you stick around. That is a major pet peeve of mine. Too many times have I been ready to start an RP and had everyone just disappear without a word. If you are interested or say that you wish to be a part of this, then it's just polite to stick around. If you lose interest or have to drop out due to some reason, please let me know! I will do the same for you. It's just a polite thing to do. I also would like to know when you are going to be busy or unable to post for some reason. I will do the same for you, for I am currently finishing up this year of school and may have to go quiet for finals. That said...
- I tend to get on once to twice a day. That's not saying you have to. Just let me know how often you can post (I'd like at least once a week) and that'd be great! Also, don't be afraid to talk to me! I'm really a friendly and cooperative person just looking to have a good time. I like to talk with my partner about not only the RP, but other things in life as well! Just some general "get to know you" type conversation. Getting to know your partner can make RPing so much more comfortable I've found.
I've started to enjoy writing in threads, however if you have to RP via PM that is fine. I am not too flexible when it comes to using Skype and the like. I'm just not a fan of becoming that personal, no offense to anyone!
If you are interested you can either post here or PM me, whichever you prefer. If not, then have a nice day and thanks for having a look! :)
