"You do that, and you'll be set to win over the people" John smiled. "..But seriously, they see you helping us, I hope they'll be more accepting towards you. I cannot guarantee it though, I make no promises. I will vouch for you, for whatever my word is worth, you help, and you'll have it" John said continuing to smile.

"I will get you what ever you need" Stars said, "Food, fresh water, clothes, cars, whatever you need, you shall have it"

Danny leaned forward, said softly, "You're driving too fast. They stick to the speed limit"

"You're too kind, for little in return. I'll try and get the others to be more accepting of you. After all, we can't just stop being human. Stop being ourselves" John said as he turned his attention back to the road. "Speed limits huh? Never thought of that, thanks. What else should I be aware of? Don't want to stand out. Teach us how to blend in with you seekers, and then we'll stand a greater chance"

Stars shrugged "obey the road rules. Were a seat belt. Be nice" she said "let people in things like that" she said "and it works for pretty much everything"

"Be nice? I can handle that" John smiled. "Thanks, though. I appreciate the help. It'll come in handy when we meet your fellow seekers. I've known people who've been taken or occupied or whatever you call it. They aren't themselves no more, and that ins't going to become me"

Stars nodded, shrugged, "Maybe I'll tell you how to take us out safetly. I don't know" She said, leaning back into her seat

Lana could feel the blisters swelling on her over worked feet like hot pokers fresh from the fire. She had been walking in the brush for what seemed like an eternity, trying to stay out of the light of the road. She wasn't at all inconspicuous in the terms of soul to human relations, just the condition of her torn clothes alone made her stand out like a sore thumb. She was alone, and had to I been for some time. Two summers, Lana had stopped keeping track of the days and months after Knox, her partner, blew his head off. He had always said they would never catch him alive, but Lana had never expected that.

The sun was down and the shadows had her mostly hidden, and upon realizing this she sat right in the dust to yank off her boots, and begin tearing through her pack for the cured beef strips she had saved for a night like tonight. It was a strangely eerie feeling to have gone months perhaps without hearing your own voice. On the back of her dirt coated hand was a spiral brand, small in the crook of her thumb and index finger. A reminder of normality and safety, cold beers and good friends. Chewing slowly on the tough meat, she wondered briefly if she would have been better off going with Knox, taking the big sleep instead. Suddenly, the first car she had seen in a while, engulfed we in its floodlights. Scrambling into the bush beside her, Lana held her breath and stared helplessly a her boots, laying limp as a giveaway just out of her reach.

"Teach us how to take you out safely? Out? Like out the body, out the person? There's an actual way to do that? I mean, we've tried, but failed. So if there's a way, you need to tell me, or us" John said, as he turned around to face her for a second, and then returned to the road. Where he spotted boots just by the side of the road. John stopped the car. "Do Seekers leave boots lying around? Perhaps it's best if you go look. A Seeker wouldn't take another seeker"

"All souls know how to take our kind out our hosts, for emergency's and the likes" Stars replied, "You cannot force a soul out" She nodded, "Alright then, I shall go look"

It had to be seekers. The truck pulled up nauseatingly close to her, and someone climbed out of the truck. "Shit." Her voice rasped, worn of disuse. She hopped out of the bush, sweating and dizzy. Tunnel vision began closing in around her in the darkness, and there was a sudden weakness in her muscles, a dryness to her mouth; a gunshot sounded in her memory and Lana's knees collapsed. She was too tired, mentally and physically, to run anymore and we body knew it.

Stars cried out, and caught the girl, but she wasn't that strong, and they both tumbled to the ground. "Danny!" She had already figured out this girl was no trouble. "Help!"

Danny had already vaulted out the car, and approached

John got out the car too, this obviously wasn't a seeker. It's out of the ordinary for a seeker, right? He thought to himself, as he headed over. "She's human" John confirmed, smiling. It was always a good feeling to find another, knowing that there was more out there, and the souls hadn't conquered the whole world just yet. Then he snapped back to reality "Water" he said, loudly, as he realised she was probably thirsty from whatever hell she had just walked through. John jogged back to his car, grabbing a un-opened bottle. "Here.." He said, opening and offering it to the girl.

Lana's body fought back just as she came to, but as soon as the grips began to loosen on her body she realized that she was in no danger. Her limbs relaxed, and she took the bottle from the mans hand. Slowily she cracked the top and took a long drink, scanning the group. Two humans, and.. One not. Still reeling from the loss of consciousness her mind had a hard time registering what was going on. Pulling on her boots, her lack of other human contact made her wordless moment increasingly more awkward. "Sorry.." She croaked rasply.

John let out a soft chuckle, and then offered his hand. "Don't be sorry. Danny, help me get her to the car" John said to the younger boy. "So, if I may ask. What brings you out this way, all alone? You got people anywhere? Perhaps we can give you a ride back there?" John asked, hopeful to hear of any group surviving these days. There just had to be more.

Danny quickly went to assist, "I'm Danny" he clarified, "That's John, and the one you are probably freaking out over is She who gazes upon the Stars. Its a mouthful, so I just call her Stars"

Stars hurriedly got the door off the car open for them, using the oppurtunity to give the girl some space from her.
