I like the multicultural and organised ranks of the Empire. Ulfric cared more about his own fame and power than he did about Skyrim. His rebellion only weakened Skyrim. The Stormcloaks are also mainly made up of racists who penalize innocent outsiders because of their race.

Although I agree the Empire has done some less than savoury things, allowing the Argonians to invade the Dark Elves and taking away the Nords right to freely worship to name a few. I also didn't appreciate almost having my head cut off either, but taking all these things in to account I'd still rather be part of the Empire.

The Empire. Damn separatists.

I agree with the Stormcloak sentiment against non-Nords, though. Less than half of the unique NPCs are Nords. That's ridiculous.

Considering the Empire's soldiers nearly executed you at the beginning of the game I have difficulty explaining why you would wind up joining them later on.

Shouldn't you have been rooting for the Thalmor, then?

When I played, I picked Stormcloak. In retrospect, I would have preferred Empire.

But I won't be booting up Skyrim ever again. I wasn't really engaged in anything in Skyrim, so I stopped playing pretty quickly.

There's nothing more satisfying to play in Skyrim than a Nord Warrior, purging his homeland of beast and foreigner alike.

I don't know. I like to roleplay a bit in my games too, but Skyrim just felt so flaccid to me. I can't get excited about any of it.

They have diplomatic ties to the imperials I think. I can't remember exactly how it worked. I just know that the Stormcloaks didn't like Altmer one bit. And understandably so. The Thalmor are dicks. I just wanted to play a mage. If I had known the game forces you to choose between siding with people who tried to kill you in the past and people who currently want you dead, I might have decided to go with a Breton instead, or just screw the whole thing and play a Nord warrior like the game obviously wants you to.

You CAN be a Mage as a Nord.

To be perfectly honest it never really mattered to me. I chose Empire because I was tired of seeing a Stormcloak camp every few journeys. This began my quest of wrecking every Stormcloak camp I saw and freezing the general with in before making the horses run away. What a glorious quest it was! But then I started my battlemage Sedegan, who would not wreck anything because Sedegan is a pussy.

Remember Skyrim's true native race, the Snow Elves. The Nords are the true foreign invaders =P

And you can blame the Dwarves for what happened to the Snow Elves.

I go with the Empire. The Stormcloaks are downright entitled assholes. I enjoy slaughtering them in their forts.

I've done both. I play a Dunmer and both have kinda good reasons for siding with both.

Stormcloaks:
The Empire has been terrible for the people of Morrowind and abandoned us when we needed them.
After the Khajiit tore through Morrowind the Stormcloak racism towards, at the least the Khajiit is something my Dunmer can appreciate and be happy about. Also my people know the feeling of having our own homeland taken from us.
You could also say your Dunmer is sympathetic to the Thalmor cause. I never was. Fuck the Thalmor.

Empire:
If you are pivotal in the Empire's victory there is a chance you can use your influence to get Imperial aid for your people back on Morrowind.
The Stormcloaks treat your fellow Dunmer like shit, and fuck that.
My Dunmer was one who loved great power, and securing the Empire foothold in Skyrim ensures that the Empire is still very strong, this is especially good if the Thalmor attack again, and again fuck the Thalmor. I've never been a fan of the Thalmor as a Dark Elf. I think they take the idea of being a mer and bastardize it with the Thalmor. Also Dunmer> all other mer.
