It was the night. She couldn’t keep living like this anymore. Jumping at her own shadow, fearing the creaking of the old house and the fact that. . . Luke Dune had been thrown from her bedroom when things were getting uncomfortable for her. It was now Tuesday, and Jemma knew that her father had finally gone to bed and was well asleep. It had been hard for her to stay away for this long, but she felt that doing this in the middle of the night was better than doing this during the day. What was she doing up still at three in the morning? She was going to finally confront the ghost haunting her bedroom.
Jemma finally let her blue eyes flutter open to stare at the darkness of her room. The green light of the time glare back at her from across the room where it sat on her dresser. Jemma still didn’t dare move. She was scared. She had always liked horror movies, even the ones that were way pass her age rating but watch anyways. But this. . . was totally different. This was real and that terrified her. She closed her eyes again hoping that something would jump out and scare her, or something wouldn’t reach under the covers and drag her off to her death. She shifted under the covers a little as she started to pump herself back up.
You can do this! We just have to walk over to the bedroom door, close it, turn on the light and pray to go nothing evil is haunting this room. What if it tries to kill me! No, you can’t keep living in fear and not going in your own bedroom anymore just like the cat. God I miss having him sleep with me. Stay on task Jemma! She talked to herself inside her own head before peeking one eye open before the other one, her eyes still well adjusted to the darkness of the room. She was really starting to wish she didn’t have school tomorrow. Maybe she could convince her dad to let her stay home, that would be highly unlikely. Rolling over in her bed she started to look around the other side of her room. Making sure everything was clear of evil ghosts.
She knew this wasn’t all in her mind anymore, she really had started to think she was crazy, losing it. She was just glad her father didn’t notice how out of sorts she had been lately. After all he was having a much harder time then she was over her mother’s death. It was after all why they moved to this two bedroom, two story house. Sitting up quickly she looked around the room with wide and fearful eyes. Her hands gripped the covers of her bed, ready to hide under the covers as if they would protect her from the ghost. Taking in a shaky breath she threw the covers off darted across the room on her tip toes trying not to wake her father and closed her door before flickering on the light. She pressed her back to the door and glanced around the room before quickly darting back to the safety of her covers.
She sat in her bed, her hands gripping the covers again with wide eyes as she looked around. Her heart was racing, and she could feel her breath becoming uneven from the pure fear she was feeling. She swallowed the spit in her mouth her eyes still darting around. “Come out. I-I-I know you’re here!” She said just loud enough for some invisible thing in her room to hear her but not her father who was down the hallway. “I’ve had enough! Come out!” She said being brave for that moment and hoping that she live after the monster that has been spooking her for not just days but a year and a half to come out. After all how could you explain, things moving around your room when you knew you put things in a certain spot, the randomly cold places that came and went randomly, and lastly why her cat would no longer come in her room. If it hadn’t been for what happened Saturday night when her father was out with some friends from the last town they lived in, she would have never thought there really was a ghost haunting her room.
