The New Yorker Treading the Rhetorical Minefield

"Such splendid work. Truly splendid. Hold on, just hold on a moment. Please put down the gun, don't you remember me? That's right, me. I am here to congratulate you, of course. Of all the projects I've undertaken, of all the metamorphosis' I have supervised, you are the most radiant. You understand the issue with radiance, don't you? It draws in too many moths. The flittering, fluttering wings of the FBI are flapping far too near your brilliance. Do not fret, my dear, take a hint from the sun; you must only be so bright that they never think to fly near you again."
The foundation for this RP is based upon the multitude of stories concerning Hannibal Lecter. It is expected that when you show interest here that you have some kind of familiarization with the mythos. If you do not, that is also fine, as long as you let me know before you submit a character. I will try my best to provide an in-depth analysis, from my prospective, of the Chesapeake Ripper, as he is sometimes known.

Here's where things get a little complicated, I do not believe this story will follow the story of Lecter, but rather, someone who was infinitely inspired by him. This person will likely have characteristics similar to Lecter and will commit similar acts, but will be totally independent. This should be a character driven roleplay as the plot will be very open to interpretation, This serial killer will probably be controlled by myself, unless someone feels like they are up to the challenge, and are willing to work with me very closely. The PC will vary greatly (I hope). They can be anything from a psychologist working with the FBI, to a survivor of the killer. Due to the nature of the investigation, and the variability of the location of the crimes, there might not be any "local cop" characters, but rather FBI agents, or even trainees.

As you might be able to tell, the plot is not set in stone, the main characters are not fleshed out, and the GM is a little nervous ;)

With that in mind, I am expecting a few things from those who apply: An advanced understanding of writing and grammar, a sense of dedication and honesty, and an interest in telling interesting stories with other like-minded people. Once I receive more interests than I think I need, I will put up an OOC.

Please feel free to ask questions and provide feedback. This is still very much in development.

I would be interested in possibly playing an FBI Special Agent, who has been personally affected by a serial killer as one killed her mother when she was a child and was never caught.

Hey, if this doesn't get anymore interest I wouldn't mind doing a 1x1 version of this- what do you think?

I don't necessarily see an issue with that. I'd like to hold on for a few more days though.

Hold on a second, are you two STILL there? I'd be willing to get this show on the road. (Even though I had a lapse in attention)

I would be interested. How about the FBI take a trainee or younger agent, and after months of murders and not being able to catch the guy, they "set up" the younger agent as bait to try and lure the murderer? This could go wrong, or not, depending on how it turns out. Obviously the story would have to lead up to this.

I'll gladly be the younger agent, or a victim the FBI works with. I would really love to do this story, but I'm really worried over the murderer becoming some kind of godmodding hero that is super human in terms of intelligence and getting away...
Mostly I just want this to stay realistic, and if that can happen, I'm 100% in. :)

I wouldn't mind taking on that serial killer... I have one in mind that I have been keeping for a story of mine (The villain) That I have been wanting to put to field test... he is very much based off of Hannibal Lecter....

Alright boys. I'm so happy to see interest here. I would love to work out these specifics in an ooc. So, as long as you're still interested, I will make one. I love both ideas, but I might have to arrest control of the serial killer. We'll have to work out the details via ooc.
