Name:
Zhen ‘Zhi’ Juan
珍'智'胡安
Age:
27
Height:
5’7
Weight:
135lbs
Bending:
Fire Bending: Expert level.
Breath of fire: Needs catalyst, can only do it for a short amount of time. No catalyst means short amount of smoke and sparks of fire, i.e malfunction.
Lightning: Has to stand completely still to use it, she isn’t the best in this technique and needs more practice. But she’s more than capable of teaching it. She can also redirect it, but it leaves her wide open for an attack. If she’s interrupted while redirecting lightning, depending on where the lightning is at, it could injure her internal organs or explode out of her finger tips blowing her back.
Skills:
Being trained by her father when she was younger, a member of the White Lotus, and trained in some arts by the Republic City Police Force, she exceptionally skilled in fighting:
Northern Shaolin Kung Fu: Used particularly in close-ranges, utilizing strong kicks and quick punches. She’s best in this technique when it comes to just fighting, no bending involved.
Xingyiquan: The classic "Seven Stars"; or the hands, feet, elbows, hips, knees, shoulders, and head; are incorporated into most firebending. She’s best at this technique when it involves bending, for the fact that a Firebender needs to know these moves to be proficient in Firebending.
Chaquan: A fighting style that involves acrobatics and agile, graceful movements, it emphasizes long range movements and stances combined with speed and power. Even though she’s better in using Northern Shaolin Kung Fu, she works well with combining these two fighting styles.
Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis Style: Heavily rooted stances and strong kicks and punches that evoke the mass and power of earth. Hung Gar itself parallels animal movements such as the tiger's hard blows and the crane's affinity to landing gracefully on the Earth. This isn’t Zhi’s best technique, nor does she have much knowledge in it. When she joined the Police Force, she was trained lightly in this technique. As well, by her father shortly. Only knowing a few hard blows, and the act of landing gracefully, she’d much rather leave this fighting style to the Metalbenders.
Equipment:
Flask: She carries a small flask with tea around just in case; she uses it to be able to perform Breath of fire. Heating up the flask, she takes a drink of the now boiled tea, and is now able to shoot fire from her mouth for a short amount of time.
Blades: She carries two hidden blades in her gloves, or sleeves (Depending on her clothing). She doesn’t kill people (All the time), she mostly use them for traps or distractions.
Bio:
From the ages four through nine, Zhi had grown up with a loving family. Her mother had always made her read books, when she’s grateful for now, but back then she wasn’t too fond of reading. She was interested in the stories her father told her, though. About the past Avatars and about bending, although she read about them in books, hearing them from someone with experience made it more interesting. She would only get about an hour a day for hearing stories before her father had to leave for late nights.
Watching him from her window, Zhi had gotten interested in watching her father train in fighting. And train in earth bending, she wanted to learn too. Running out, she asked for lessons in which she got short ones. Learning how to fight Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis Style, she first went through endurance training. Strengthening her fist and arms through push ups and punching trees, she strengthened her legs by running and kicking train, then went on to learn the Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis Style, only a few hard punches. And that’s where their training ended, due to her father’s death.
One night, her father went out when she was supposed to be asleep, to do his job. Curious as to what his job was exactly, Zhi snuck out to follow him. The following lasted a couple minutes until she heard a scream as her father ran down an alley, following, she saw a man getting beat up by a gang. Her father helped the man getting beat up escape by fighting off the gang alone, as the man escaped; her father had taken down half of the gang. What happened next brought tears to her eyes, her own father was taken down. Stabbed, left half dead on the ground as the rest of the gang made their escape. Running to get help, she got it. Her father was taken to a healer. The next day she went in to go see him, before his death, the last words he spoke were, “Know the White Lotus stories, sweetie? Well, daddy is one of them….He helped save what Aang had helped bring back, an Airbender. From the rogues, like in the other stores…I love you sweetie, you and your mother. I’m sorry that I couldn’t see you grow up, but don’t be sad that I’m going awa-“ and before anymore words could be spoken, his eyes slowly shut and he was gone.
A year later, at age ten, she was went off to live with her uncle in Republic City who revealed he was also a member of the White Lotus like her father. A master firebender, whom Zhi had asked to train her. Ever since her father’s death, she had read up on the White Lotus and aspired to become a member to accomplish what her father couldn’t: Protect the Avatar, despite the new one not being revealed yet. Her uncle agreed to train her, warning her that it would be tough…Zhi accepted, of course, with the training beginning. Her uncle taught her firebending, first she trained in the arts of Xingyiquan. The style that most firebenders used, after getting it down after a year, firebending training began at age eleven. Her uncle teaching her the past of firebending, where it came from: The unflinching will to accomplish tasks and desires. Something she had, something that made this element easier to learn. Life and energy, she had to keep a peace of mind. Had to have a grasp on her emotions. She meditated for most days, becoming calmer as she had a peace of mind, not holding on to her father’s death or who murdered him. The rest of that year was spent practicing firebending, something she got down quick. It took half of the year in which she turned eleven, then half of the next year where she turned twelve. She was able to fire bend greatly, which was mostly due to her uncle being a master and teaching her. Next came more fighting techniques, Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. She was taught in that art first, training slowly in it for three years. Getting it down at age fifteen, she started learning Chaquan for three years. Already small, that was easy for her considering it involved being agile. Seeing the improvements, her uncle was impressed at how fast she learned and how strong her will was. This brought him to teach her Breath of fire, Lightning, and Lightning redirect. Having being weak in those three departments mostly, she got Breath of fire down in a couple months. Finding out she needed something hot in her belly before performing it, otherwise a small amount of smoke and sparks of fire would shoot out. She shot the smoke out every time she got frustrated. A year later, she trained in Lightning and Lightning redirect. Only able to do it if she was standing still, she figured it was good enough. Age nineteen, stopping her training and becoming a low ranking member of the White Lotus. A White Lotus sentry, but due to the new Avatar not being found yet, she remembered the Rogue benders as they were getting out of hand. Wanting to stop them, she wanted to do it in a more legal way, and joined the Police Force. They had put her through a bit of Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis Style training, in which she had a bit of skill in, it was ended when her uncle requested she become an undercover member. Due to his status, and good points on how she wasn’t a metalbender, she was put as undercover. It worked well for her. Throughout her years (Eight) she had taken down Rogue Benders (Physically, and leading them into traps), even a couple gang bust. She even goes to secret underground bars when she wants to take a load off from time to time.
Though, her motivation for protecting the Avatar hasn’t went away. Although she is undercover, she checks in with the White Lotus to see if they’ve found the new Avatar.
Personality:
Zhi is a caring woman, very calm and laid back. To the point she’ll randomly start playing with children on the street, probably because they’re her soft spot. And she wants to protect anyone she can, and give advice to anyone who’s down…Even to criminals she beats down and locks up. Working undercover for the police force, it made her intelligent, setting up plans and traps from criminals on the spot. Even made her better in battle. Though, despite her calm and laid back nature, she’s still capable of anger and rage. Annoyance, when this happens it’s best to stay away from her, although it’s hard to get to this point with her, someone could still get there. Mostly by hurting those she cares for, giving them injuries, or putting them in a life or death situation. In other situations, she can be sarcastic, sassy, and flirty. Mostly when she’s undercover, and when she wants information she tries to seduce men…With her words only, of course. She would never show her body unless it was absolutely necessary….Like a shower.
