I use a mod for that issue. Right when I first played the game and finally hit that part a was like, "What the fuck? Nope. Fuck this shit I'm king of blades, you do what I say." After that I saved, looked for a mod to fix this, used it, and told blades off like the bitches they are. Paarthunax still lives.

I could be wrong, but I'd bet that that would be the reason behind her sudden bought of lethal hypocrisy. she's not meant to be a follower for long, and since Thalmor patrols are random encounters, it's just one of those things where it would be oddly specific game logic for one character, even if it totally goes against what her character believes.

I know, Dervish, but it just added to her overall hypocrisy list. I mean, even without this incident, I already put her in the 'Hypocrites' list.
She's one of the Blades, who're sworn to guard and serve the Dragonborn (her words, not mine), and the first thing she did after finding out my char was the Dragonborn, what did she do?
She sent my char straight to the Thalmor infested Embassy. -_-;; Yeah... fine example of 'guard and serve the Dragonborn' there.

Alright, maybe there wasn't anyone else and Delphine was in the wanted list so she couldn't go herself, I'll give her that.
But after that? When the quest to find Esbern come along, the least she could do was offer to accompany my char (not that I would take up that offer)! How the heck did she expect to 'guard' my character if my character was all the way in Riften while she's sitting in her cozy tavern back in Riverwood?? Strike two.

In the Sky Haven Temple, when Esbern found the big room full of pressure plates trap, what did they do? "We'll cross once it's safe."
..... seriously? If I'm the dragonborn in the game, I'd be scratching my head and start to wonder 'Are they guarding me or am I guarding them?'.

Strike three. I'm already out by this point, but when she and Esbern told my character to kill Paarthunax, the one dragon who didn't want to kill me and already helped me a lot...
Well, I wish there's an option in game to tell them to kiss my... Wait! I don't want them anywhere near me!! Uhm.... Right! To tell them to kiss Elenwen's pale behind. >3

And don't get me started on how she 'lectured' my character to not be afraid of using her power and whatnot in her bossy tone. (That 'setessential 13478 0' console command looks VERY tempting to use. I'd probably use it as soon as this Main Quest done.)
