Still mental shattered from the knowledge that his mother eventually one ups him and he ends up getting hitched, Nathan looked over to Sky, he has grown to trust her in the past week, she helped organize the lab, he wouldn't admit it, but she did allow him to jump forward an entire week in progress towards finishing his machine, had she really been on his mother's side the entire time? "Why would you do this to me?" His tone lacked the spirit he usual spoke with, usually a clue for his mother that he would be normal for a while, but not productive in the slightest bit.

"Well, I shall pop in again in the near future, Try to stop him from getting all down like this will you dear? Nobody capable of producing amazing grandchildren would want someone who slips into that sort of depression over something so simple." She turned around and started walking out, then turned to blow a kiss to Nathan, "Remember Nathanael, Mommy loves you and does this for your best interests." She continued on her way out till the noise of the final door shutting echoed throughout the lab.

Nathan sat down on the floor and looked towards the ceiling, "Well, I guess you should be proud of yourself, in the end you succeed."

Simon burst out from his hiding and latched right onto Sky's leg, "Great Granma is scary!" The poor boy had done all he could to be silent during the whole conversation, and even with his superior intellect, he was still just a child after all, he started to cry, and a small trail of snot started out his nose.

“Doctor… Nathan, you have to believe me. I had no idea what your mother was planning.” Sky was desperately trying to find something to say that could possibly convince him when Simon ran out and latched onto her leg. Sighing softly, the young woman pulled him off and knelt down so she could hug him. Holding him close, she rubbed his back gently and cooed comforting words into his ear, “Shhh, you don’t need to be afraid. It’s okay. She’s gone now.” She felt her shoulder growing wet with tears and other fluids she’d rather not think about and hugged the boy a bit tighter. She wanted to tell Simon that Mrs. Burnoise wasn't a bad woman and that he didn't need to be afraid of her but the woman’s ulterior motives had caught Sky off guard as much as Nathan and she was no longer sure what to think.

Speaking of which, Miss Donahue looked over at the young doctor, her eyes full of sympathy and concern. She still wasn't sure how to make him believe her and she worried he might not give her a chance. If Nathan fired her and kicked her out of the lab, she’d never find another opportunity like this. Sure, the esteemed doctor was a bit odd but he was also quite brilliant and he had the most amazing lab she’d ever seen. Skylar still didn't know what most of these machines were for but after what she had seen today, she felt certain at least half of them did things you wouldn't think was possible. Besides, on a more trivial note, she couldn't stand the thought of someone thinking so poorly of her. Even if she never saw Nathan again, it would bother her to know he thought she was a manipulative traitor, especially since she had done nothing wrong. Cautiously, she called out to him, “…Doctor? Is there anything at all I can do that would make you believe me?”

Pulling himself up off of the ground, Nathan then rubbed his temple with two of his fingers, "For now, you can take care of Simon... I need some time to be alone, and work things out in my head. Maybe accept things? No that would be too easy of a solution, and I am too stubborn for it to just work, find another way maybe?" A sign of recovery, he had started to talk to himself again, still not in his usual spirit, but an instant recovery was not to be expected from him, or was it? He had to much on his mind, it was working overtime, yet in to many directions to be productive in any manner, He walked over to a machine that he had neglected for some time, and started to disassemble it, then he would examine the parts one by one, and reattach them, in a slightly different order, he didn't say a word, no bright outbursts or signs of a mad genius plan for the machine, just sampling keeping his hands and mind semi-busy. His expression still that of defeat, but otherwise looking much more like a normal scientist.

Simon slowly removed himself from being so tightly against Sky, he tried to sniffle his mucus up his nose to no avail, and then decided that his sleeve would do the job better, just like any other boy. he then whimpered out a question between sobs, "Did Great Granma make you and Grampa have a fight as well?" It would appear that the genius boy's thought process slowed down greatly depending on what mood he was in, right now he was much more like an innocent little child.

“Of course, whatever you need.” Sky watched Nathan attempt to work, her hand still rubbing Simon’s back absentmindedly. She hadn't known the doctor very long but it was difficult to watch him like this. Frowning slightly, the young assistant wondered why Mrs. Burnoise had felt the need to interfere. Even if Sky had been aware of her plans, what did she expect to have been done in just a week? Nathan was who he was and that was unlikely to change. Besides, he wasn't so bad… was he? Pausing for a moment to imagine seeing the scientist out of the lab, in public with normal people, she suddenly doubted her judgment. Well… No. She’s his mother. If anyone, she should love and accept him.

Simon began to pull back slightly, redirecting Skylar’s focus. She looked at him and smiled softly, despite his runny nose. She watched him use his sleeve and felt her brow twitch. She gently picked him up and began walking over to the desks where they could sit more comfortably and have access to two boxes of tissues.

“I… It’s a bit complicated, Simon.” She sat the boy down in one of the office chairs and grabbed a tissue. She held it to his nose and waited for him to blow as she continued, “We’re not exactly having a fight but your grandfather’s feelings have been hurt. You see, he thinks I lied to him and I don’t really have a way to prove that I didn't. He just needs some time to think things over and decide if he wants to trust me or not. But I don’t want you to worry about it, okay? This is just a bunch of boring old adult stuff and I promise everything will be alright. Okay?” She gave the sweet young boy the most reassuring smile she could and gently bopped his nose with her finger.

“So. What would Mr. Simon like to do while grandpa works?”

Simon blew his noise, it made a wet noise, that he couldn't help but chuckle during. Simon listened to the rest of what Skye had to say, and it seemed to calm him down somewhat, he was an intelligent boy, so he probably was able to piece it all together when he started think properly, or it may have been when he looked at his own hand and started to smile. "I'm still here so things still work out fine I guess!" He looked up to her with a big smile on his face, the remainder of tears starting to dry around his eyes.

Looking around for something to do while his Grandpa worked seemed like a hard task for the child though, he looked around, cocking his head whenever he saw somethng that potentially caught his eye, then shaking his head and looking at something else. He was looking for something to do that wouldn't interfere with time, or something he was supposed to interfere with so that time would stay on track. "I need to find the train!"

Nathan's ears twitched at the mention of the train.
