Technology of any kind hates me

I just bought the Last Of Us and it freezes after the first cutscene. I can't even make it half way through the prologue. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but to not avail.

This happened to me with Red Dead. Never got it working.

Made it to the second cutscene! The girl's eyes were glowing white and the screen was severely glitched out. As soon as the girl starts to get up out of bed, it freezes.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's just a bad copy of the game. Did you buy it used or something? If so, it might be damaged.

No. It's a new copy, and there are no visible scratches or anything on the disk.

Made another attempt. This time, in the screen between the first two cutscenes, a loading bar showed up, got to just under 5% and then black screen and frozen.

Deleting and reinstalling a third time.

My brother beat Last of Us on a PS3 a couple of days ago. How long have you had the PS3? It could be the consoles age.

You should see if the disc works on someone else's system.

Also try orienting the system differently (for example my PS3 only detects 3D movie discs if it's standing on its side -- no idea why).
