Gin did not have any sentient life on before it was colonized, either it never developed, or whatever intelligent species that did live on the planet died long along. Ancient structures dot the planet, but it is hard to tell if their architects were native or foreign, mostly because not one tomb or fossilized corpse has been found.
The people who came to Gin were not sturdy pioneers, nor brilliant archaeologist, the people who now call Gin home are rich criminals, mostly because Gin does not fall into any galactic nations borders due to it being rather isolated and unimportant until the rich criminals moved in. However, they did not come alone. They brought slaves.
Axel was born to a slave, in a large mansion owned by the son of a corrupt loan-shark. The son was not the kindest person, but so long as they slaves remained obedient and worked hard, they got by. And compared to his parents, who visited often, he was a saint.
Each slave was assigned a role at birth, if they would not or could not fill the role, they will be throw to the wilds to be slaughtered. Axel was assigned to be a technical repair servant, as his father was before him. A relatively high ranking role in the strict caste, but also one of the more dangerous ones. His job was to fix the electrical devices that made life easy for his masters. Electrical shocks, rusted metal, and malfunctioning machines were all job hazards.
However, all slaves regardless of rank were taught some basic skills to be more useful to their masters and to require less resources to manage. These were sewing, cooking, and first aid. Some slaves, including Axel, who proved particularly loyal had even more advanced medical training in cause the master need aid in an emergency.
Axel was loyal, not out of fear of punishment, though that was most certainly present, but mostly because he knew nothing else. Due to him working with machines, he had the best education of all of the slaves, learning how to read and write, and various other useful information. However, even him could avoid the master's inherent distrust of slaves and all slaves were forced to were "Obedience collars." which is basically what it sounds like.
However, one day, he meet a strange visitor. The master often had over guest, but this one was strange because he was not looking for the master, but for him, or at least someone like him. He was looking for someone to fix a machine. He wanted to help the man, however doing so would most assuredly result in punishment, and the collar would not allow him to leave the property as the man urged him to do.
The man seemed to understand and forgave him, even if he could not forgive himself. He then did something Axel was surprised by, he snapped his fingers and the collar fell off. He had known of magic, the master and his family had know it and often was in the company of other sorcerers, but never had he seen a magic user show him such kindness. Even slaves who show signs of having magic were freed and promoted to high roles in order to keep them loyal to the loose association of Gin, that was the closest thing to a government it had. The stranger then said, "Now you must leave, or you will be punished." with almost a laugh. Axel nodded.
What Axel seen next surprised him, a space-ship. It was small, and looked as though it could house two to four people. He had heard of them, but was never allowed to see one. Professionals worked on spaceships, not slaves. The man than gave him instructions on how to fix the ship, and left him with the supplies he would need. It was a giant task, but he set to work immediately. Work has always made him feel better, he enjoyed work, and to work on a space ship, it was to much.
The ship was actually less damaged than it would first seem, it was sturdy and well-built, and the ship almost seemed to guide his hand as though it was talking to him, and then he realized it was talking to him, kind of. The ship had a rather simplistic but very intelligent A.I. that was sending him information as he needed it. He lost count of the days, but by time the owner of the ship returned, he was finished.
The ship owner seemed pleased, though casually mentioning that, "I could of fixed it faster, but I did wish want to look at the ruins, and I did not feel like it at the time, but you did a splendid job." The ship owner than suggested, "Why do you not accompany me on my way home. I could use a student, even if only for a short while."
Axel agreed, having no where else to go. From the strange man, who referred to himself as Nikoclous, he learned more complex robotic engineering and magic over the course of a year. When asked why he did not free all of the slaves of Gin if he could, Nikoclous replied, "Patience. I have lived for a long time, and I will for a long time more. If I be to blunt in my operations, I will attract enemies which will hurt me and the people I am trying to help, but if I am subtle, I can change the world so slowly, no one will even notice. And sometimes that small change is having one more good person in the world doing good things."
After the one year with Nikoclous, he then joined the egis hunters as a prodigy magic-tech engineer.

The scar even persists in this form. Fenrir does not have a feral form, but instead he has what is called "Ragnanok form" which is a very large, feral form that is able to stand on his hind-legs for a short amount of time.
