Two years after the events of Super Mystery Dungeon. All seemed calm, strife nearly non-existent, or so everyone thought. That said, it's been a well-known fact that the hostile Pokémon residing inside the world's various dungeons have become organized and dangerous; some even venturing to peaceful settlements and attacking. The world's guild leaders brushed it off initially as an attack by the Thieves Guild, or another unknown criminal organization. However, their modus operandi was notably different; they attack without a set purpose.
Cogs are beginning to turn, and the fate of the world rests once again in the hands of a human and their companions; one partner alone will not suffice.
Our story starts in what used to be a closed off settlement; Folio Town. A giant tree is situated atop a desert oasis, with a town built into its branches. A sandstorm conjured by an ancient Tyranitar used to shroud the tree from harm, however it has since subsided. With Folio Town now accessible to the pubic, travelers from far and wide are gathering at the towering tree.
Current Areas
Folio Town
Folio is a large town situated on a gigantic tree. Located to the north of the Sand Continent, Folio Town sits atop a desert oasis.
Normally enveloping the tree is a sandstorm, which serves to protect the town from harm. However, the sandstorm has recently subsided.
The path through the tree is known as Folio's Trunk, and is a sprawling Mystery Dungeon. The dungeon is split in two. An easier path which leads to the town, and a difficult one which explores the massive caverns created by the tree's root system.
Town Locations
The plaza is the liveliest part of Folio Town. Glyph's Guild, along with the town's inn The Blue Treecko are located here. Additionally, you can find other town staples here. Café Connection, a Deposit Box, Hawlucha's Slam School, Rockin' Lock, Kecleon Shop, as well as Glorious Gold are found about the plaza.
The Observatory is a small platform built over a protruding branch of the giant tree.
This structure pumps water from the oasis beneath to the town.
The Windmill uses the sandstorm's power to draw water all the way up to the treetop.
On a thick platform-like branch resides most of the town's population. It's near the entrance to the Folio's Trunk dungeon.
A mysterious location guarded by several Grovyle. The town's prophet resides within.
Folio's Trunk
The dungeon's entrance is a small cave made by the tree's slowly decaying roots which can be entered from the surrounding desert. Once inside, there are two paths to choose from; the easier path leading to the town, and a harder one leading down into the earth. The paths branch at a Waypoint. This Waypoint features a Deposit Box.
The path leading towards the town features 8 mystery dungeon floors covered with dry roots and sand.
The Town Path portion of Folio's Trunk features standard Floor, Wall and Stair tiles. The rooms are typical, and there are no special events on the floor save for a few Traps and Wonder Tiles.
Taking the more difficult route plunges the adventurer into the basement floors of the dungeon. There are 14 basement floors, and one Secret Room. Unlike the other path, this one features luminescent moss growing on the cavern's walls, as well as some traces of water.
Dungeon Breakdown Floors: 14 [Basement] Common Weather: Clear Skies, Rain, Heavy Rain Traps: Discord Trap, Emera-Crush Trap, Grimy Trap, Hunger Trap, Mud Trap, Poison Trap, Pokémon Trap, Slow Trap, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Sticky Trap, Summon Trap
Splitting off from the Waypoint is the Treacherous Roots portion of Folio's Trunk. It features standard Floor, Wall and Stair tiles, as well as Water tiles. Traps and Wonder tiles are also found in this portion of the dungeon. There are a few special events rooms including a Boss Floor, a Secret Room, as well as a Monster House.
Altepa Desert
The northeastern portion of the Sand Continent is made up of this arid desert wasteland. While remnants of an ancient civilization that once thrived here dot the landscape, today the area is dominated by sand, wind, and the occasional Pokémon that roams the dunes.
Sarutabaruta
On the southern fringe of the Altepa Desert is the vast steppe region known as Sarutabaruta. Plant life is minimal, but it is a welcome sight for many coming from the deserts of the Sand Continent.
The term "Horutoto Ruins" refers to the set of ancient towers that are spread across the plains of Sarutabaruta. While no one is certain why these massive structures were built, the powerful magical energy that emanates from them has intrigued adventurers for decades.
However, the ruins seem to lead nowhere, though some suspect there's a vast network of tunnels underground.
Inside of the Lily Tower, through a crack in the wall, one would find additional passages through the Horutoto Ruins. However, they would find a true barrier in the Elemental Gate. A rune of Fire, Water, and Grass is etched mysteriously into the ground.
If the Elemental Gate is opened, one would find entry into the Toraimarai Canal. Named after the famed explorer Torai-Marai, this series of canals underneath Sarutabaruta provides water to the massive roots of the Great Folio Tree and is also home to a wide variety of Pokémon. With multiple levels and a number of dead-ends, venturing in this frightful labyrinth often leads to certain death.
An ancient fountain discovered by the first Sol Sibyl. Legend has it, this is where she was bestowed the gift of foresight. The fountain is said to contain the vast power of the sun and moon and is home to a legendary guardian beast.
Character Creation
Characters are limited to first and middle stage Pokémon only (unless you are a chosen storyteller). For example, Charmander and Charmeleon are acceptable, but Charizard is not. Additionally, an Eevee is acceptable, but its evolutions are not. As is Riolu, but not Lucario, and so forth. Pokémon that cannot evolve will generally be acceptable as well, I will have to take it on a case-by-case basis.
We've also reached our human limit, so for now, no more transformed humans.
Your character can be good, evil, or anywhere in-between. If you wish for your character to be on the villainous-side of the spectrum, please send me a message.
Please thoroughly fill out each relevant section. You may add additional information to your skeleton as you deem necessary. If you are afraid of other players using your backstory to meta-game, you are more than welcome to send me a private message with the information.
In regards to equipped items, and things on-hand, please be reasonable. No overpowered Looplets, and things of that nature. Emeras are found inside dungeons, so the only Emeras that will be available are ones that I leave for players to find. A few Apples, Oran Berries, Elixirs and maybe a Tiny Revival Seed are fairly standard for an adventurer. I also feel I should mention this. No Connection Orbs. Ever. Requests will be on a bulletin board. If you have an idea for a request, let me know.
Once your character sheet has been accepted by me, you may post it to the characters tab and begin posting.
You are encouraged to select a font color for your character's dialogue. That said, the color must contrast well will the site's dark background, in a way that it is easily able to be read. There are many acceptable colors. If you need assistance, you need only ask.
Name: Gender: Pokémon: Ability: Moveset:Limit to Four Moves
Name: Devon Gender: Male Pokémon: Totodile Ability: Torrent Nature: Bold
Moveset: Water Gun Ice Fang Bite Rage
Backstory: As a human, Devon's life was... Adventurous? If you count getting beat up by many wild Pokémon due to misunderstandings as a child. Young Devon was always interested in Pokémon, and thought the best way to interact with them would be to befriend wilds in near his home towns of both Hearthome and Goldenrod. (His parents live apart due to work reasons, but are still in love and share Devon throughout the twelve months of the year.) His naive way of making friends via butting into the personal space of wild Pokémon angered most he came across. Thus leading to many painful injuries, and frequent hospital visits. These unfortunate events did not daunt Devon however. He continued to attempt making friends with Pokémon and eventually succeeded. Making friends with a female Starly outside of Hearthome that he named: 'Flappers'. Thought childhood the boy played with the bird for years until they grew apart due to conflicting goals. Devon became interested in becoming a Trainer, and Flappers wanted a family of her own in the wild. The two parted ways when Devon was nine years old and have yet to encounter each other again.
Just before being brought to this strange new world, Devon was a happy, sixteen year old Pokémon Trainer. Collecting the badges of both Sinnoh and Johto while travelling with his five beloved team mates. Shock the Ampharos, Cyan the Marill, Quill the Monferno, Missy the Mismagius, and Nasir the Zoroark.
Personality: Devon is an outgoing used-to-be-teen who is very social between small groups, but cannot handle being the center of attention in a large crowd. He’s quick to make friends, mostly leaning towards those with the same light hearted attitude as him. Though he can adapt to others of a different mindset with little time. Devon is patient, but does have his limits for things like long journeys with no excitement or stubborn Pokémon. His temper may seem almost non-existent, but do not be fooled. He is relatively good at hiding anger thanks to him seeing his fathers stern expression not change for sixteen years. That has been helpful in many situations such as dealing with childhood bullies. He may seem distant at first, but he does feel a sense of purpose to help others. Going out of his way to do so. He is competitive, taking offence to challenges and accepting them with little thought in the moment that sometimes lead him to misfortune. Due to being around others for most of his life, Devon is also bothered by being alone for long periods of time.
Team: Devon's Team - Name Undecided Guild Affiliation: Glyph's Guild
Special Features: His back spikes are a light brown instead of the normal red, and his irises are a deep brown. Reflections of his former self.
Name: Glyph Gender: Male Pokémon: Flygon Ability: Levitate
Moveset: Earthquake Dragon Claw Rock Slide Aerial Ace
Backstory: Glyph spent the majority of his early life living with his parents and sister high in the branches of Folio Town. Back then, the town was much smaller compared to nowadays. The town itself having a very low population due to the difficulties of even reaching the town from the outside of the sandstorm. These were favourable conditions for Glyph's parents. Their own adventuring days concluded and a peaceful rural town was just what they wanted to settle and raise their children. Throughout childhood Glyph and his sister Glyde were told many tales of their parents adventures together. Exploring Mystery Dungeons, visiting different towns and continents, and collecting treasure. The stories inspired the two younglings. Upon being told about the dungeon that resides under the town, Folio's Trunk, the twin Trapinch prepared for a solid week. Stocking up on items, drawing up plans, and honing their skills. Once ready, Glyph and Glyde set out into the Mystery Dungeon.....They didn't really last very long. Glyde got frightened by a Galvantula inside of the root cavern, and fled back into the safety of her mother's arms with Glyph at her heels. As it turned out, the Galvantula that had originally scared the twins was not a hostile Pokémon. Just a simple traveller on his way into the hidden town. The misunderstanding was quickly settled over a nice dinner between the family and the traveller. After only a few day, kids went at it again and this time succeeded in their goal. Bringing back a few Poké coins for their parents. Glyph and Glyde were proud of their achievement, as well as their parents. The siblings decided to continue their adventures and form an Exploration Team known as Team Quake. The two travelled all across the Sand Continent aiding Pokémon and plundering dungeons together for almost ten years. Growing a bit tired of the adventuring life, Glyph and his sister (Now both fully evolved Flygon) returned to Folio to take it easy and care for their now elderly parents. It wasn't long until their mother and father passed away, and the twins mindset differed for what to do next. Glyph wanted to return to a life of Exploration, while Glyde wanted to keep their parents house and start a family. Eventually Glyph had an idea. The experienced traveller deciding to create an Exploration Guild in Folio Town, and use the funds gained to not only support his sister and the town, but to also partly keep doing what he enjoyed. He may not be out in the field as much as he would want, but training a new generation of Explorers was good enough in the Flygon's eyes.
Personality: Glyph is a hearty, well mannered Pokémon that was named due to his parent's love of unknown and mysterious ancient symbols. He is very thoughtful, and goes to lengths to help those around him. When not instructing members of the guild or assisting the town populace, one would most likely find him in his room in the guild. The room itself a vast library of notes and journals written during Team Quakes travels as well as other literature that Glyph has gained over the years. The Flygon can sometimes become a bit absorbed into his books, and as such may space out on occasion in pure thought as well as relay too heavily on prior knowledge for some situations. He finds family and team work to be critical for survival in this world, and can be a bit preachy when conveying his opinions.
Team:Formerly Team Quake Guild Affiliation: Glyph's Guild: Guild Master
Family: Glyde the Flygon (Sister) Glen the Trapinch (Nephew)
Raiden the Feraligatr: Scarred Feraligatr with extensive combat experience. Typically seen wearing a cloak.
Brick the Poliwrath: Trainer for new recruits. Member of Glyph's Guild.
Letho the Sableye: Street-smart member of Glyph's Guild.
Personality: Don't let the name fool you, this Pokemon is as rough and tough as they come. She's a veteran explorer with tons of experience, and some power to back that up. Though most of this demeanor is just for show. In truth, she is generally a very gentle and caring Pokemon, resorting to violence when there is no alternative. Although... sometimes she's just kind of... gone... it's hard to explain unless you're there to witness it. She tends to be a nomad, never staying in one place for long unless she has a good reason.
Backstory: Breeze was born in Shaymin Village on the Grass Continent. As a child, she always wondered what the world was like outside of their village, and often traveled to the Sky Peak to try and see as far as she could. Since she was still so young, though, her parents forbade her to leave until she was old enough.
When she finally did become old enough, her parents let her leave without any objection. They knew their little girl was a grown up now, and ready to see all that the world offered. And so she was off on her journey across the world. At first, things were a bit bumpy. She got banged up in quite a few Mystery Dungeons she wasn't prepared for, and soon found herself at a Guild on the Grass Continent.
She didn't register as a Guild Affiliate, but it was there that she started her own team, finding those who shared her dreams of seeing the world. She formed a team with two other Pokemon: Sonya the Emolga, and Lola the Gligar. Together they traveled across each and every continent, exploring all they could before moving on.
However, at some point, their team known as Windflower disbanded for unknown reasons. Sonya and Lola went off the grid, leaving Breeze alone once more in the world. However, she was far more prepared than she was when she first met them, and was confident in her abilities on her own. However, something deep inside still longed for the friendship that disappeared. Eventually she made her way to the Sand Continent, where she heard of Folio Town, a town built inside a massive tree. This, she had to see for herself...
Team: Formerly Team Windflower
Guild Affiliation: No Stable Affiliations
Selena
Gender: Female
Pokémon: Bayleef
Ability: Leaf Guard
Moveset:
Razor Leaf
Solarbeam
Safeguard
Protect
Personality: She can be quite skittish around strangers, even after evolving from Chikorita. She absolutely hates fighting, but her father, a Venusaur, made sure she could easily defend herself if need be. She tends to frequent the same places every day, following the set schedule she has developed over a lot of years. If she makes a friend, it is something she will cherish forever. That being said, she doesn't have too many friends... She tends to be treated as somewhat of an outcast due to her personality. It visibly shows most of the time, due to her being unable to properly control her emotions.
Backstory: Selena was born in Folio Town to a Venusaur named Brute and a Meganium named Leanne. Her parents lived on the outskirts of the town. Due to this, she had little interaction with other kids her age. She lived a solitary life, with her family being her only anchor. Things were soon to change however.
When a cooking accident burned down the family's home, they were forced to move into town. This was the first time she had been into town, and Selena was terrified. Suddenly she had been thrust into a world in which she had no clue how to act. Sure, some Pokemon tried to make friends with her at first. But each time she would end up running away, not used to having friends.
Over time her father trained her almost day and night, something she loathed with a passion. She hated fighting, and thus hated the training her father put her through. Soon the training triggered her evolution into a Bayleef, something that caught her off guard and caused her to become more reclusive than before. She completely stopped training and ended up spending a lot of time dangerously close to the entrance to the Folio Trunk.
Slowly she has started to come out of her shell a little, spending small amounts of time near the Town Plaza. Sadly, by this time, most of the kids her age and evolutionary stage treat her as an outcast and tend to avoid and make fun of her. She is very clearly hurt by this rejection, often running off in tears as she can't control her emotions well. She continues to search for someone who understands her position and would be her friend.

Ember
Gender: Female
Pokémon: Quilava
Ability: Blaze
Moveset:
Ember
Flame Wheel
Quick Attack
Dig
Personality: Ember has a fiery spirit, and that's no pun on her fire typing. She tends to be a wild child, and often gets mixed in with the wrong crowds. She eventually wises up, though. She's a gentle spirit at the core, and doesn't have a wicked bone in her body. However, getting her angry is a big mistake... the last Pokemon to get on her last nerve ended up with third degree burns for about a week. She hasn't had much training or battle experience before, which makes her a rookie when it comes to dungeon exploration, which she is an avid fan of.
Backstory: Ember was born a Cyndaquil to a single Typhlosion mother who lived near the center of Folio Town. Her father had gone missing months before after he kept raving about an unproven discovery of a second Mystery Dungeon in high branches of the Folio Trunk. Only his treasure bag was ever found, no sign of what happened to him has been found to this day.
Not having a strong father figure caused Ember to get mixed up with some bad Pokemon around town, one in particular being a young and reckless Tyrogue named Bruce. Over time she had many falling outs with the fighting type, but somehow always ended up back in the group again. This often put her at ends with her mother.
Soon enough, as is the natural process, Ember evolved into Quilava. At first she hated her new form, she had trouble walking around with her longer body and was upset that she couldn't get into many places she could when she was a Cyndaquil. Over time she has slowly started to wise up, and now has been trying to teach Bruce and his gang the error of their ways. It's... not going well. Recently her temper has begun to flare more than ever, and Bruce is about to touch that potentially deadly last nerve. She's been working on controlling her nasty temper since that incident when the Servine at the Blue Treeko stepped on her foot by accident... yeah, they don't talk about that much.

Ligero "Fuse"
Gender: Male
Pokémon: Luxio
Ability: Intimidate
Moveset:
Spark
Thunder Fang
Bite
Discharge
Personality: He gained the nickname "Fuse" because, well, he's got a short fuse. He's got a small temper, but if something truly eats at him, it doesn't take long for him to get angry. However, it takes something BIG to get him angry. Something like someone getting mugged in an alley, or a brutal four versus one battle. He's normally pretty relaxed, and is happy to help out someone in need. Other than his quirks, he's a pretty normal young Luxio. Except... he considers himself an outcast from his tribe due to his many failures, and has decided not to return until he feels he has redeemed himself.
Backstory: He doesn't remember much about where he was born, they didn't stay there long. He was born to parents in a nomad Luxray Tribe, always on the move across the Desert Continent. His childhood was a fairly normal one, except for one thing: a long standing feud between his tribe and a tribe of Manectrics and Electrikes who lived on the same land. Almost every day there was some kind of battle raged. This was the one thing he hated about his family, which helped lead to his short temper in these situations.
Eventually he became old enough to set out on his own, which was kind of a right of passage for the Luxray Clan. He was sent out to find an artifact that belonged to the Luxray Clan, which was stolen by the Manectric Clan long ago. He tracked the artifact across the Desert Continent, but failed to find its location. Eventually, the trail went cold.
He came upon a rather large town, though, and found out about Pokemon Law Enforcement. He applied to become an officer, where he trained and eventually evolved into Luxio. However, he failed when his attitude was put to the test in a number of scenarios. Another failure. He'd failed his tribe, and he'd failed himself. He wouldn't return until he had righted his wrongs, he decided.
After that, he traveled the land alone. He'd grown used to it by now. At least, until his supplies were stolen by a gang of Outlaw Pokemon. It looked like he was finished. But he would be saved by Guildmembers from the Folio Town Guild. They brought him to Folio, where he finally had a chance to right his wrongs. He would end up joining the Guild as a solo member, not wanting to burden anyone with his personal dilemma. And that has been where he's stayed ever since.

Guild Affiliation: Folio Guild
Fun Fact: Fuse's real name means "Light" in Spanish
Rules and Guidelines
• Follow the rules of the Roleplayer's Guild. • Do not god-mode or powerplay. • Do not overpower yourself or others. We like to have fun here. • Do not metagame. • Only bunny (autowalk) characters if you have permission, or if the other person has not posted in some time. • Never autohit. • Do not mix IC and OOC. A character is a character. You are you. • Avoid breaking lore. Thrall cannot save you.
Post collaboration is fine, however if it's taking you a week to write it and dragging down the RP, reconsider its use.
Post often. Real life takes priority, but do try to let everyone know in advanced if there's a hold-up of over three days. If you wish to drop the RP, it would be much appreciated if you notify everyone in the OOC.
There is no post order. That said, be mindful and considerate.
Post should be two paragraphs or more; at the very least enough for someone to respond to. Spelling, grammar and punctuation do not need to be perfect, however if no one can comprehend what you're writing, there's a very big problem.
Finally, please start your character in an area other characters can interact with you.
Approved characters can go ahead and start posting. I have two major starting areas in mind. First one is in Folio Town proper, and the other in the 'easier' mystery dungeon. I'll need to write up my starting post for the latter.
About a Power Restriction, Shaymin really gets no power from changing forme that much. It can fly, that's pretty much it. Also a type change, but that isn't too overpowered.
I would like it if it could work like this: "Will switch to Land Forme when Night, Cold, or Defeated in Battle."
Well, this is awkward. I actually chose to use an Aron too, before you'd posted your CS. To make matters worse, her personality would have some minor similarities to yours. I won't continue with creating her until I've heard from you if you're okay with that, I wouldn't want to make you think I'm copying you.
@Empour That's cool with me. I don't mind playing with another Aron, and even if she's similar to mines, that just gives both our characters something to relate, yeah? If you want I don't mind if they both also already know each other too.
She wears a black lace bow on the side of her head.
Ability: Flash Fire
Moveset: Will-o-Wisp Fire Spin Hex Pain Split
Personality: Veronica is a quiet Pokemon who doesn't show emotion very often. In fact, it's rare to see her smile. She doesn't talk very much, not because she's shy or anything, she just doesn't have much to say. It's hard to get more than a few words out of her at a time. When someone does try to talk to her, she tries to get straight to the point, and end the conversation as efficiently as possible. This often leads to saying things bluntly. She is patient and stoic, and doesn't get angry easily, but can be quite scary when she does get mad.
She is quite friendly deep down. She can be one of your closest friends if you have the patience to deal with her. The reason for her personality is because of the bad reputation Ghost types tend to get, especially the Chandelure line. She is accustomed to bullying and people saying terrible things about her and her family. The reason for her joining a Guild is to prove that not every Lampent in the world is interested in eating souls. Her favorite activity is reading books.
Backstory: Veronica was born in a village where her family were the only Ghost types around. Ghost types had a bad reputation, so everyone in the village had assumed they were evil. Since they had done nothing wrong however, they couldn't really be kicked out of town. Veronica had a normal childhood. However, she was often bullied and picked on by virtue of being a scary Ghost type. She was hurt by the constant teasing, but tried to ignore it as best she could.
It all came to a head on one particular. While she was walking by, she overheard a student say, "Oh look, here comes that freak. I bet she's just waiting for the right moment to eat our souls." She got upset by this, and then suddenly, without meaning too, a fire suddenly appeared next to him. The student tried to put it out, but the flame spread, setting himself on fire. When she walked up to try to help the person, he responded with "You did this didn't you?! Get away from me you witch!" Which made Veronica more upset, causing the fire to grow. Veronica ran away tears streaming down her face.
As Veronica ran, random things she passed started bursting into flames. Eventually, the entire school caught fire. By the time help arrived, flames had consumed the entire school. Several people were burned, and some even died. After that incident, it was confirmed in everyone's mind's that Ghost types were evil, and Veronica and her family were forced out of the village.
They tried to settle in a new village, but every time they would get forced out by people who were too scared to look past their bad reputation. Eventually, Veronica and her family found Folio town. Nothing bad has happened yet, but Veronica doesn't have her hopes too high up. She is a fire type living in a village inside a tree. That just screams disaster. She wants to improve her reputation, and thinks joining a guild can do that. She just doesn't know which one to join.
