When he still followed the teachings of them, kind of.
Cain was adopted into a clan of assassins who's belief is in the "Ultimate State". They believed that only the purest folk deserve to be sent there, and the only way to be sent there is to die. They sought out those who were "worthy of death" and executed them. Great warriors, Royals, peasents. It didn't matter. whoever they encountered that was worthy, they killed them.
Cain realized one day that he was not born into the clan and decided that their work was so pure in intention that they were all worth of death, except himself. he was devoid of emotion and figured he would not be good for the Ultimate State. So he killed them all and set out to continue the work. He encounters a noble woman by the name Azierr and realizes that she is the perfect soul for the State and sets out to destroy her, but is foiled in hi first attempt by a whole group of adventurers. It took six well trained, hardened adventurers to even cut his skin.
That's about where the thread ended (for Cain) but Avarice and I decided it would be good for the plot if he were related to Morgana and the royal family. So, for the masquerade I decided I would bring in the version of him that had been defeated and learned of his family connection once again. He is the son of the founder of Artanis's Royal Guard if I remember correctly, and has been accepted by the new royal family as a sword to call upon when needed. He no longer wishes to kill, but that doesn't mean he wont hurt people.
