Earlier today, I was tagged in a post which had an @mention to a user named MaxxRocker. As MaxxRocker is a new user, this problem has not, to my knowledge, happened before, but as he is in a roleplay currently I'd appreciate it if someone could fix the bug before it starts happening more frequently.

Is it perhaps feasible that the poster had first accidentally tagged you, then edited to include the second part of the user's username?
